I made a 4 videos about Star Deli, a 30 yr struggling greenpoint bakery, they are doing well now -- looking for similar stores and more info :)

A month ago I came across Star Deli, a 30-year-old Polish deli that was planning to shut down this year because business was bad. I made 4 videos about them and started a fundraiser. 4M+ views and $5.9K raised later, it's going well. Other bigger influencers have started visiting and promoting it too.

Not here to self-promote. I'm trying to actually understand what's going on with small businesses in Greenpoint.

Do you know of any other mom-and-pop places that are struggling? And why do you think this is happening, gentrification, rent, something else?

I'm hoping to make more videos about places like this.

GoFundMe paused my transfers raising money for someone else who isn't tech savvy. What do I do?

I started a GoFundMe on behalf of a 70+ year old small business owner who isn't tech savvy and doesn't really use email. We raised $3,200 for him and now GoFundMe has paused transfers asking me to add him as a beneficiary.

The problem is he doesn't have easy access to email and I was planning to deliver the money to him in person and film it for full transparency.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Can I just reply to their email explaining the situation and manage the funds myself? Or do I need his email no matter what?

Anyone know of any struggling Family owned resturants in NYC??

I am tired of content creators making inauthentic food posts about restaurants. It’s really annoying because they are obviously charging money for these reviews.

I was so tired of it that I created my IG account. I’m not a big influencer, but my food posts usually get somewhere from 10k–100k views. Don't want to post about account here as I want respect self promotion guidelines .

I don’t charge money, ask for free food, or anything like that for these reviews.

Does anyone know of any struggling family-owned restaurants that are actually good but struggling around the NYC area? I’d be happy to go check them out.

I don’t own a car, so I’d prefer it to be close to the subway.

EDIT:

Thanks for all the responses! I went through the comments and made a list of restaurants people recommended.

I’ll try to prioritize based on which restaurants seem like they’re actually struggling / could use the biggest boost. If I don’t like the food, or if it doesn’t seem like they’re struggling, I’ll probably pass on posting them.
