First Time Trying Myka Greek Frozen Yogurt in the West Village
I went to the West Village location of Myka after seeing it on social media. I got the natural Greek yogurt with berry crumble and Mykataifi, which is pistachio cream with toasted kataifi pastry. It was very good; would highly recommend trying at least once!
Stuck in my hotel for the day- what to order in? In lower manhattan!
Hey everyone- I’m here from London for 2 weeks and am staying in a hotel in lower manhattan for 2 days, I arrived yesterday but my luggage was lost (including my hand luggage which I was forced to check :/ ) the airline said it would arrive between 12-7pm, I’m getting some work done in the hotel today but want to order myself something nice for lunch & for dinner! Any recommendations? I don’t eat red meat but otherwise am willing to try anything!
Edit: my nearest subway station is prince st & I’m open to anything budget wise. Just needs to be deliverable !
What is your favorite thai spot in NYC for price and value?
I miss Lamoon in Elmhurst that closed a few years back. They were unique and had dishes like pearl (boba) pad thai (pic above), thai tea infused pad thai, and mango salad w/ ant eggs. I feel like the current Thai scene is either over priced charging too many fees for certain proteins or lacking in flavor/portion.
I do go to Saranrom in Elmhurst when I eat out or have friends visit, but wanted to know if there are any standout thai spots thats recommended in terms on portion, price and value. I have been to alot of spots in elmhurst and would like to try new spots!
Looking for jeyuk deopbap (spicy pork over rice) in NYC
I had this dish in Korea a year ago and I still dream about it from time to time. From what I’ve been able to figure out, it’s jeyuk deopbab (spicy pork over rice), apologies if incorrect.
I’m having a hard time finding it as is on menus in nyc and would appreciate any recommendations. I live in Williamsburg but happy to travel for it :).
Thanks!
Current best spots for steamed razor clams in NYC?
I used to get steamed razor clams at WoHop, are there any other new/great spots to get steamed razor clams?
Where can I find good congee near the Seaport / financial district?
Hiya. My stomach’s been weird lately and I’d like to start trying congee. Are there any places near the Seaport or financial district that you’d recommend?
I’m aware Chinatown is right there but walking distance is a factor; it’d be easier to get into Two Bridges during lunch. Definitely open to Chinatown recs though.
I’m aware that it’s sort of easy to make but would like to try some first to have a good baseline to compare my attempts to.
I'm a new pescatarian who wants to try sushi, what's a good omakase to start with?
I'm looking for an omakase that's good for people who haven't had much, if any, sushi before. Price isn't really an issue for me, although I don't think I'd be able to appreciate the highest end yet, but I'd like to get a decent survey of what's out there. I'll be dining alone at the counter so if there's any good recommendations for that specifically I would appreciate it.
Where’s the good food in midtown that’s not $50+ and not corporate slop?
Trying to find a dinner spot in midtown that’s not your standard DIG or carrot express, and not the other end of the spectrum like monkey bar. Where’s the actually good food that’s in between?
Searching for the best FRESH fruit tea in the city (no syrups, non boba)
There are tons of threads discussing the best BOBA places in the city, but I am looking for recs specifically for the best fresh fruit iced tea (or other similarly refreshing recs along these lines). I don’t want JUICE. I don’t want a SMOOTHIE. I don’t want a BODEGA iced tea. I don’t want LEMONADE. I especially don’t want STEVIA. I want an extra large cup of subtly sweet, fresh and refreshing icy drink. Is that too much to ask (/s). Places I’ve found thus far that fit this criteria include MISS DU’S TEA SHOPPE (many options) (1 million out of 10) and FIFTYLAN (specifically the fresh passion fruit teas) (10/10). Honorable mention of TWO WHEELS drink options but they are a tad too sweet. I’ve tried a number of aguas frescas around the city and they are always TOO SWEET. An agua fresca vendor that adds sugar separately would fit the bill but I’ve not been able to find one yet (at least not in NYC).
Many boba places do have these types of options but they can be extremely hit or miss (namely to due the ARTIFICIAL SYRUP epidemic), so I’m looking for solid recs of either boba places that have fresh fruit tea (or similar) options or non-boba places that fit the bill. Tons of places charge top dollar and are using fruit SYRUPS which I’m trying to avoid, or otherwise just are TOO SWEET. I am OPEN TO OTHER SUGGESTIONS. Price is not a factor in this search.
Looking for restaurants under $100 in Manhattan that has similar vibes to the restaurants listed below. (Prefer restaurants that don't have raw food...)
Staying until the end of August for work and saving money, with most of my meals being frozen Trader Joes food. Think I naturally prefer Asian or Non-Western cuisines. Had a really great time at these places and was hoping for similar vibes/quality/price range:
Konban NYC, Atoboy, Yoon Haeundae Galbi, Pranakhon, Thai Villa, Fish Cheeks, Ariari, Tsumo UWS, Shukette
Been to other places like Sala Thai or La Pecora Bianca but was slightly disappointing.
Restaurants I'm really hoping to visit right now are:
Don Angie, Soothr, Olle, Chalong Southern Thai, Mokyo, Thai Diner
(Sorry if this is considered a low-quality, repetitive post.... Tried to make it as specific as possible..)
Best 40th bday private dinner spot or experience for 14-16ppl
Hi! Looking for recommendations for a really really nice 40th birthday dinner spot for my husband and a group of 14-16 friends. Must be fully private space and ideally delicious food. Considering some fancy Michelin spots like per se and Le Bernardin but they feel very corporate. Also curious about options at the Aman. Looked into blue hill at stone barns but their private room is maxed out at 12. Really want to celebrate him and cost isn’t an issue. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
Breakfast Burrito at Border Town BK on fresh tortilla
I tried the ($16, weekends through 2pm only) Border Town breakfast burrito at Border Town in Greenpoint yesterday and it was so good I had to go back today (and take some pics cuz my phone was acting up yday)
The main selling point IMO is the fresh homemade tortilla. Super soft and stretchy with a bit of niceeeeee char.
Comes with Egg, bacon, potato, refried beans, caramelized onion / jalapeno, and queso chihuahua.
The green salsa is very refreshing and light, the red salsa is rich and spicy and flavorful, both are amazing.
I definitely intend on going back even more to try the Chorizo burrito and revisit the tacos (I've had their tacos in the popup days but not recently).
To compare it with some other breakfast burritos:
- The texture inside is nice and wet and gooey similar to SF BK (not similar to Mama Yoshi which is pretty dry inside) (not similar to Little flower which is sopping wet with pico de gallo juice and white crema [cold and unnecessary])
- I really like the potato / beans / white cheese / green salsa combo, similar to my previous favorite Jessi's coffee shop.
- Places that make fresh tortillas. This burrito is better than Vato or Los Burritos Juarez IMO.
Recs for Jerk Chicken places where the jerk actually pack some heat
Looking for recommendations for places that don’t shy away from the scotch bonnets. Thanks in advance!
Any suggestions for a Manhattan seafood lunch coming in at under three figures?
We have a visitor from the waterless middle of the country coming in who requested a seafood lunch. Sadly, I don’t have the kind of $$ for anywhere ‘classy’. Anyone know of a hidden gem?
Birthday recommendation to choose between Kyma or Buddakan?
I am looking for a dinner spot for my 26th birthday with 9 people. I have seen great reviews about both places.
I would rather Asian than Greek but think the “vibes” of Kyma is more what I’m looking for (fun, dancing, good food & drinks).
What would you pick if you’ve gone to both or have any negative reviews about either or another option that I may be missing.
I prefer to stay in manhattan & exceed no more than $150 pp before drinks, taxes, grat. (I’ve gone through at least 10 places lol). TIA I am so indecisive but want my friends to have a great time!
Pancakes and scrambled eggs from Jeffery's Grocery
For a once-in-a-while meal, it's a good spot.
Sushi Noz ⭐⭐, Noz 17 ⭐, & Noz Market, NYC, June/July 2026
I was in NYC for a few days, and as a sushi lover, I said why not go to supposedly one of the absolute best sushi restaurants outside Japan! When I was making a reservation at Sushi Noz, I learned that Chef Noz has two other restaurants, Noz 17 and Noz Market! And given their prices weren't too too bad, I decided to try out everything Noz has to offer!
Noz Market
My first meal was at Noz Market, the most casual/regular Noz sushi restaurant. Unfortunately my phone died not long after dinner started, so no pictures for Noz Market. I got the Chef's Menu Omakase for $155. Overall, everything was quite good. I’d describe Noz Market as one step up from a standard quality sushiya. The knifework, fish, shari, miso soup, and tamago were far from exceptional, but still quite tasty. Besides the one uni piece, all the other fish served were relatively cheaper cuts, though you can add stuff like otoro à la carte.
Noz 17
Next up was 1 Michelin-starred Noz 17! The head chef here, Chef Matsu, used to run the second/Ash counter at the flagship Sushi Noz. I got the only menu they offer, which is an omakase menu for $195. I was the first guest Chef Matsu served for their first reservation time so I don’t know if he was still calibrating himself, but my first two pieces had way too much wasabi. The shari was a bit too mushy, slightly too sweet, and certainly didn’t have enough vinegar/acidity, but overall it wasn’t bad. The eel was served very hot and they didn’t tell us, so I almost burned my tongue with the first bite. The miso soup and tamago were the best I’d had in my life, and the chestnut ice cream dessert was a great closer.
Sushi Noz
Finally, the last night of the trip was spent at the one and only Sushi Noz, with 2 Michelin stars! All I can say is that, disregarding the $550 price tag, the experience was very disappointing. None of the starting otsumami were particularly great, and the rock oyster was straight up unenjoyable. The actual sushi part of the meal was similarly underwhelming. The shari was better than Noz 17, but was still certainly unbalanced IMO, having practically no acidity. Three pieces had too much wasabi, with one of the most important pieces, the chutoro, having the most. I didn’t appreciate them grilling the otoro, Noz 17 had far better soup and tamago, however, Sushi Noz’s dessert was slightly better.
My Ratings
Noz 17: 1* (#1 value for money)
Sushi Noz: 0* (#3 value for money)
Noz Market: 0* (#2 value for money)
To be honest, I’d actually say I enjoyed my experience at Noz 17 more. The crab and the deep fried shirako with caviar otsumami dishes were much better than any of the starters I had at Sushi Noz, fewer “messed up” sushi pieces (4/9 at Sushi Noz), and significantly better soup and tamago. With that being said, as a whole, I unfortunately can’t say I’m a fan of the Noz sushi universe.
Kabawa Reservations seemingly impossible? Or am I just dumb?
So I was waiting to finally try Kabawa for my birthday and timed it out perfectly, refreshing and waiting exactly at midnight for a party of 5 exactly two weeks out. and after refreshing, it buffered and there was still nothing available at all, tried for a party of two and still nothing. I’m a bit new to reservations/higher class dining and was just wondering if I didn’t do something correctly, or is the par for the course? Thanks.
