What is a good place for ginger scallion chicken in Chinatown?

Chinatown NYC while anywhere in lower manhattan is fine too. Preferably small portion over rice while 1/4 lb is fine too. I know it can be called hainanese chicken rice. Cantonese, Singaporean, Malaysian style etc doesn’t matter. I’ve only had Cantonese style.

What are good Marriott hotels in NYC?

Anywhere within New York, NY. Preference is lower manhattan and some nearby neighborhoods like Greenwich, west village, east village, etc okay. One that isn’t too expensive overall and I will make it work when I put in my dates. Clean too. I will be in Chinatown hence the preference. I will be dropped off and leave via Penn station if that matters but plenty of time to explore. Just one night and one room. 8/31-9/1 are dates I’m thinking of if that matters. I’ve been staying at Marriott for years even before I turned 1. Thanks.

Why are some people against some forms of free healthcare?

I have medical school friends who assist at a free clinic while on rotations at time. It’s completely free if you don’t need surgery or certain prescription drugs. Some complex procedures can be done for free if only clean exam room needed. Rich donors and some medical school tuition helps pay to keep the clinic afloat. Hospital pays the utility bill as inside a hospital. Donors pay for workers who aren’t medical students or resident doctors. There are more free clinics like this all across the U.S. The patients at the free clinic openly mention receiving free care. Yes, people pay for it to stay open but it’s not most tax payers. There are medical students who pay to assist there. I will not say it’s the best care at times since some people can get better care with insurance. At least some people have the option for free care without requirements besides waiting your turn when waits are long. A few people have mentioned that they don’t want these places to exist as not free at all when they aren’t even paying for it.

Just my claim for the case. I have served food to the homeless for over 15 years if that matters. Feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions.

Budget meal ideas with just pantry items

I am looking for cheap meal ideas with just pantry items. I will be moving out of my apt a little over a month from now. I’m trying to clean out the fridge as much as I can. I plan eat as much I can from my fridge first before I make items with just dry pantry items. I just needs idea that isn’t rice and beans. I don’t beans beyond as in Asian dessert or at a place like Chipotle. I already have vermicelli, pasta, lentils, rice paper, ramen, etc. I can’t eat cereal all the time as not always healthy. I have two half full pasta sauce so one Mariana sauce from Trader Joe’s and an Alfredo. Vegan and vegetarian is fine though I do eat meat/seafood. I’m Viet but open to anything. I can buy a little more if needed. USA resident.

Got $25 for 100 pieces of fried chicken.

I ordered 2 boxes of 50 piece mixed fried chicken. Original price was almost $100 and it ended up being $75 pre tax. 100 piece only mixed was sold out. I didn’t even have to ask for any discount since I’m feeding the homeless alongside other people. I kept clipping coupons on the app. The only coupon I remembered was 10% off deli related. Just fried chicken in my cart. Ordering for someone else who is out of town so all new to me.

DOJ-EOIR hiring timeline?

I had an interview last minute this week. The interviewer told me that there would be only one other person interviewing with them. So the interviewer only had 2 people interviewing this week with one being myself. I was also told I could be sent to the hiring manager. Just if it worked out. Many vacancies for legal assistant on usajobs when I applied. I have a USCIS background as a contractor if that matters and have experience with these files on the USCIS side. The prediction I was giving was up to 3 months with hiring manager and 2 weeks is rare. It can take long per my interviewer. I just want to know estimate of the hiring timeline like months, weeks, etc. I applied two weeks ago. Thanks in advance.

Taylor farms still available

They had a lot being sold at Sam’s. Some of the bags were going bad and I could tell since some of the bags had wilted lettuce. I’m not surprised since people aren’t buying Taylor farms. I am not taking any chances. Feel free to share any comments.

Why do some people say just go to Aldi or Walmart to save money?

I see quite a few budgeters mainly USA ones say just go to Aldi to save money. Some will then mention Walmart once they realize that the person has no Aldi in their state. Multiple budget people got mad at me when I said Aldi is no longer the cheapest grocery store near me. It used be when I was in college as town had limited options. I told one person that Aldi doesn’t have fresh fish selection and they didn’t have much to say afterwards. I found fresh salmon that was 50% less than Aldi near me which also played a part in not much to say. I have family that live in states and areas without an Aldi and Walmart is usually not worth it for them price wise due to other stores with better deals. They don’t live in food deserts which I understand as I have friends who grew up that way. I shop at Asian and international grocery stores the most plus Lidl at times. Sorry if it’s a rant. Feel free to share any thoughts, comments, or opinions.
-I don’t care where people shop. I’m not shaming Walmart or Aldi shoppers at all.

Partner ‘33M’is still too touchy and it makes me not like him as much ’29F’what to do?

We are both Vietnamese people who live in the U.S. He’s been naturalized for over 10 years and still has some basic culture stuff to learn about. I was born here. We met through my step cousin in law. I’m not a fan of being squeezed so hard but he doesn’t get the message. He was doing it and somewhat inappropriately when we had to order food at panda and coldstone. Worker at Panda wasn’t too happy and I had to hint to him get off as worker is working on us. The mall had kids around when he got slightly inappropriate like squeezing to the point he went towards my chest. He wanted to avoid them but couldn’t. He also doing it a bit when my step cousin in law wasn’t looking and my step nephew was asleep. Focus was on the TV as World Cup. I didn’t want to kill the vibe and it did stop once my step nephew woke up. He’s 2. I am waiting for the right moment to say no and just be friends but haven’t found it. Plus it helps he has to work overtime at the airport. He also wants to introduce me to his family back in Vietnam. My step cousin wants it to work out but she doesn’t see it all. The distance doesn’t always cut it since he’s 1hr away at times with traffic and I work in another state. He already planning marriage within 2 years if it works out.

TL;DR(summary)
-Partner doesn’t understand boundaries and not being too touchy. I tell him I’m not used to it and he doesn’t get the message. As an aunt with close to 10 nieces and nephews, I don’t expose them to anything inappropriate. Kids were at the mall. It stopped for a few seconds in the mall because workers were waiting for us to order. He acts different around my step cousin in law aka his best friend. Minus being a huge soccer fan and that’s never a problem. I’m pretty sure he understands what is socially acceptable if he isn’t inappropriate with a 2 year old around. Step cousin wants it work out as her husband is his best friend but she doesn’t see it all. I don’t think he’s marriage material. Vietnamese American 29F and he’s Vietnamese 33M .

Any advice would be helpful. I’m not good at breaking people’s heart especially with a person who barely has any friends.

How does the selective placement program work?

One I applied for said non competitive appointments for applicants with disabilities. I do have a valid schedule A letter dated in 2024. 2028 is when it wouldn’t be valid for this position alone. I have applied to similar positions with schedule A hiring only. They allowed me to pick the departments that I wanted or could work for as well. I have never been a federal worker while contractor yes. I’m also in the DC area if that matters. Thank you in advance.

How do I make a good vegetarian lo mein without mushrooms?

I will be making it for the homeless. One homeless person is a vegetarian and will eat anything vegetarian. Another homeless person is allergic to mushrooms. A recipe that I had nailed down had Lee ku kee vegetarian oyster sauce but can’t use it. I have Pearl River bridge dark soy sauce, Lee kum kee brown cooking soy sauce, garlic, ginger, onion, etc at home. I will be getting carrots and noodles for sure. I’m Vietnamese if that’s matters. I have wide variety of Asian grocery stores around me like hmart, Great Wall, 99 ranch, etc. Twin marquis noodles is what I plan to use. Thanks in advance.

My mom wants me to move back home

She’s been asking for a while since I started living in my apt. Then she’s like okay move back home once your lease ends since your room all set for you. She doesn’t understand how I’m mentally more stable and free. I can cook for myself which she doesn’t like. She buys take out a ton due to picky eater and doesn’t cook that much. Plus doesn’t always want what my dad makes. My dad had a different approach which was buy me a townhome by sept. Dad has multiple shared properties with friends plus two with my mom. My lease ends end of September. Family has realtor friends who can help. I enjoy being able to go wherever I want whenever I want without telling them. My mom would use to ask where I was going when she knew I’m talking my grandma aka her mom to grocery store or church. She complained to me about her friends having kids who moved out but live near their parents since she didn’t like. I don’t know them all but good for them. Almost 30 years old Vietnamese American woman. I haven’t told her anything about my mental state but her friends have vouched for me even ones who don’t know me too well. Both parents are Vietnamese.
Just a rant. Feel free to share your thoughts and your own stories. Thanks.

Partner doesn’t usually understand boundaries 33M and 29F

He’s 33M and 29F but will be 30 in October. He was born in Vietnam and now has been naturalized for over 10 years. I’m Vietnamese American. He works at the airport with my step cousin in law hence how I was introduced. We were at the mall yesterday and he kept holding me close and squeezing me out of nowhere. I didn’t know what to say besides I’m not used to it. I got say no and break free twice just because I had to give him the message that people are waiting to serve us at Panda/Coldstone. There were constantly kids around and I would not expose that to kids. I have 7 nieces and nephews myself. He’s already thinking about introducing me to his family in Vietnam next year and marriage in 2-3 if it works out. I just said will see. I already don’t know as could be busy to a Photo Booth date to show off to his family. Parent’s friends are coming to town soon but nothing is expected of me so not fully a lie. He was so different at my step nephews birthday party with his dad present no touching beyond a handshake. His dad told me one on one, he needs more friends in general and gave him opportunities to meet people but didn’t. He does work 1hr from me and my job is over 1hr away as something I can mention. Wed-Sun day time is his schedule with 4-5am out the door. I would only want to be regular friends at most but don’t want to say that wouldn’t break his heart too much. My step cousin who only got closer to me due to dating him in sense, wants us to work out but she doesn’t know the full story. I don’t plan to tell her full story especially if she can’t be close with her own step siblings who
did try to reach out.

Short summary/TLDR-
Vietnamese American girl 29 1/2F dating a Vietnamese born guy 33F and he came to the U.S. at age 19. He doesn’t understand boundaries most of the time especially in a mall filled with people and kids. He’s my step cousin in law’s friend hence how we got introduced. I think it’s rude to be super romantic when ordering food because the server/cashier deserves our attention. He wants to show me off to his family in Vietnam next year and then marriage 2-3 years if it works out. I just tell will see or I’m not used to it when he holds me close or squeezes me. He behaved at my step nephew birthday party as he knew he had to. I don’t know what to say to without breaking his heart too much. I can only think of plenty of fish in the sea but wouldn’t know how to best relay that in Vietnamese.

What is the best way slowly break up but still remain friends who aren’t dating? Already delaying as busy kinda.

What to expect at pride night?

This will be my second ever baseball game here as someone who lived in the DMV area their whole life. My first game was this year. I know ballpark food is overpriced. I have no expectations besides hoping the nationals win. I am queer. Thanks in advance.
