I can’t get out of fight or flight mode

I am deathly afraid of vomiting. And someone in my house just had a diarrhea bug. Because of that, I’ve been in fight or flight mode for days. And you know what that means? I’ve been experiencing mild nausea for days because I get sick to my stomach if I get too stressed.

Nausea and diarrhea don’t bother me, for the most part at least. I’m used to being nauseous, but feeling nauseous still gives me a bit of anxiety. The problem is my fear of vomiting. I have been horribly afraid of catching a stomach bug ever since last time I had the stomach flu, which was months ago. What’s funny is I never vomited when I had the stomach flu, but my fear seems to stem from the idea that I can’t control a stomach bug like I can the very thing that caused me to be so deathly afraid in the first place.

So, how can I get out of fight or flight mode?

[Discussion] What if Cassandra sang “Show Yourself” from Frozen 2?

Who would you replace Iduna since Gothel isn’t the best choice?

[Discussion] How would you include TTS characters in the live action remake?

This is not another discussion about the possibility of characters and other elements from the series being included in the remake. I want to know how you might include them if you were writing the remake.

I want to know how you’d include Cassandra, Varian, and Lance. Would you include Cass and Varian’s villain arcs? Or do you think if they’re in the live action it should be an AU where they don’t have villain arcs? Would you include the Moon Stone in any way? And what about the Brotherhood?

In your answers, assume the live action won’t be getting a sequel, ever.

[Discussion] What if Varian found out he was part Northuldra?

I’m thinking of writing a mini fanfic based on my headcanon that Varian’s mother is Iduna’s sister, making her a part of the Northuldra tribe from Frozen. I’m having trouble coming up with a plot/conflict for the fanfic, so I want to know how you think Varian would react to finding out he’s part Northuldra.

[Discussion] What do you think Rapunzel wants most after escaping the tower?

I have an idea for my TTS rewrite, but I need a “greatest desire” for it to work. I’d prefer something other than her wanting to marry Eugene because even though that’s something she wants, I already have plans for how that affects the story.

What if Varian and Ulla reunited?

I want to write a mini fanfic about Varian reuniting with Ulla in Arendelle. But, I plan her just showing up in Arendelle, so once Varian gets there she’s not that hard to find. So, I’m not sure what the conflict should be. Any ideas?

By the way, this is based off my personal headcanons about Ulla.

What if Elsa and Anna found out they have an aunt?

About a month ago, I made some posts about the possibility of Elsa and Anna having an aunt, and I posted a backstory for her. What do you think would happen if they reunited?
Anna does not remember she exists, and Elsa remembers her, but very vaguely.

[Discussion] I came up with a possible new direction for one of the aspects of my TTS rewrite. What do you think?

Originally, I was going to have Eugene propose as normal in the first episode, but before Rapunzel could answer “yes”, I was going to have Fredrick forbid her from getting engaged. Afterwards, Rapunzel and Eugene would have realized they have different ideas about what comes after marriage, with Rapunzel wanting to have adventures, and Eugene wanting to settle down. They would’ve determined to work it out, because they would rather compromise than break up. Eugene would’ve started to feel as trapped in the castle as Rapunzel (thanks to Fredrick). This would have led to him seeing Rapunzel’s side of things and he would’ve decided he wanted to show her the world. Then, in season two, they would’ve had a failed proposal.

Because I’m lazy, I copy and pasted the season two proposal from my rewrite of Rapunzel’s arc I posted:

Eugene tries to propose again. Rapunzel is nervous at first because of what happened last time. She doesn’t reject Eugene, but they don’t end up getting engaged. (Basically the initial proposal is awkward, and Rapunzel later admits to wanting to say yes be being a little afraid). She later comes to the understanding that while her father had been trying to protect her, that doesn’t make him right. She starts to gain confidence in making her decisions.

(Is it wrong that the only reason I refuse to let them get engaged before the end of the series is because I really want to keep the proposal scene from the final episode?)

I’m considering changing things a bit after reading some comments on other threads saying that Eugene proposing in public is out of character. So, here’s my new idea:

At the coronation banquet, Eugene wants to ask Fredrick for his blessing before he proposes to Rapunzel. Fredrick, not wanting his daughter engaged, forbids Eugene from going through with his proposal, not realizing Rapunzel is listening. Rapunzel is near her breaking point with the coronation pressure, and overhearing her father is the last straw, and she storms out of the room. She sneaks off with Cass, but this time Eugene isn’t left completely in the dark. After this, instead of the relationship conflict I originally planned, the focus is strictly on Rapunzel and Eugene trying to get Fredrick to let them get engaged. And, obviously, there will still be some development for their relationship outside of that.

In season two, Eugene wants to give Rapunzel a promise ring. Something (I’m not sure what and I’m open to suggestions for this part) gets in the way and the season two premiere stays the same, with the Staylan conflict rewritten a bit. At the end of the episode, Eugene gives Rapunzel the promise ring, which she happily accepts.

The season three proposals stay the same.

It’s a Frozen and Tangled crossover because I wrote it, so why wouldn’t it be?

Note:This backstory ignores the Dangerous Secrets book. When I finally get around to reading it, I may revise this a bit. I also may write this as a fanfic one day. Right now I have too many writing projects going on.

Iduna, and her sister Ulla, grow up in the Enchanted Forest. They live the typical life of any child raised in the Northuldra tribe. They move constantly. They get used to it, although it can be hard not settling in one place for very long.

From a young age, Ulla was eager to learn more about the spirits of the forest, and became increasingly interested in science and magic. She sets her sights on becoming an alchemist. Iduna often works on inventions with her.

Their lives are changed the day the king of Arendelle comes to the Enchanted Forest to celebrate the peace between them. When the fight breaks out, the sisters are separated. They both manage to escape the forest before the mist traps them.

The girls reunite, relieved to see that the other is safe.

They go to the castle with Prince Agnarr, who quickly becomes friends with Iduna and Ulla. The prince constantly talks about the mysterious person who saved him. Ulla quickly figures out that it was Iduna who saved him.

The girls are raised by Lord Peterson, with whom they bonded when he helped them adjust to their new life. Despite trusting him and Agnarr, the girls don’t tell them or anyone that they’re Northuldra.

In secret, Ulla researches a lot. She believes that, as an alchemist, she can free the Enchanted Forest from the mist. Iduna initially isn’t on board with her sister’s idea, but she ultimately decides to give her a chance. Ulla sneaks off to the Enchanted Forest after gathering some theories and ideas over the course of a few months. Nothing she tries actually works.

As they grow older, it becomes clear to Ulla that Iduna and Agnarr have feelings for each other. She acts like a Cupid for them, eventually getting them to go on a date.

Ulla never does give up on her quest to free the forest, even if she never does go back. She learns about the Sun Drop and Moon Stone and Lord Demanitus, and theorizes that the Moon Stone could free the Enchanted Forest.

After a couple years of dating, Agnarr and Iduna get engaged. Ulla helps with the wedding planning and helps Iduna prepare for her role as of Queen of Arendelle.

After the wedding and Iduna’s coronation, Ulla travels to the Dark Kingdom. She constantly sends her sister letters about her discoveries. She meets the king and queen of the Dark Kingdom and the Brotherhood, and does more in depth research on the Moon Stone.

Ulla bonds with one of the members of the Brotherhood named Quirin. He is interested in her alchemy research and she is interested in his studying of the Moon Stone. They eventually fall in love and start dating.

A few months later, King Edmund tries to destroy the Moon Stone. Both Ulla and Quirin are lucky enough to be unaffected by the stone. They follow Edmund’s orders to leave the Dark Kingdom.

Ulla takes Quirin to Arendelle. They spend a few weeks in the castle with Agnarr and Iduna. While there, Ulla and Quirin get engaged. Ulla wants to get married in Arendelle so her sister and brother in law can be there for it. She always dreamed that if she ever got married, her entire family would be there, but everyone else was stuck in the Enchanted Forest. Both Ulla and Iduna are sad about it, but they cope with it like they always did.

In private, Ulla tells Quirin about her being Northuldra. She trusts him, and she wants him to know before they get married. She makes it clear that he can’t tell anyone about it.

They decide to stay in Arendelle long enough to plan and have the wedding. Quirin tells Ulla that he wants to move to Corona because the Sun Drop flower is rumored to be there and he is interested in Adira’s theories about its connection to the Moon Stone—theories that Hector believes to be nonsense. Ulla agrees to move with him.

They settle in Old Corona, where Quirin quickly becomes friends with King Fredrick. Ulla continues her alchemy full time, and both her and Quirin conduct research on the Sun Drop and Moon Stone. Quirin has a piece of the Demanitus Scroll.

The villagers are wary of Ulla do to her alchemy, so she keeps her distance to get out of trouble.

Ulla and Quirin live peacefully for the next few years. Then one night, a fleet of guards begins frantically searching the area. Quirin goes outside to figure out what’s happening. He learns that the queen is sick, and her baby is getting ready to come. They might not make it, and the king is desperate to save them. He has sent everyone he can on a mission to find the Sun Drop Flower. Quirin rushes to the castle to warn the king not to take the flower. He doesn’t listen.

The king’s daughter, a healthy baby girl named Rapunzel is born, and the kingdom celebrates. Until the baby gets kidnapped.

A few years later, Ulla finds out that she’s pregnant. She’s overjoyed. And since she finally has the chance, she decides to travel to Arendelle to spend a week there. She can’t wait to see Iduna’s young daughters, Elsa and Anna. Quirin stays behind.

In Arendelle, Ulla visits with Agnarr and Iduna. They introduce her to Elsa and Anna. With her parents’ permission, Elsa shows her ice powers to Ulla. Ulla is fascinated by them.

When Ulla is getting ready to leave to go back home, Iduna gives her a box filled with some things she left behind. Upon opening the box, Ulla discovers its contents are hers from the Northuldra tribe. She takes it back home with her.

Nine months later, Ulla gives birth to a healthy baby boy who she and Quirin name Varian. The three of them are happy.

A few months after Varian’s first birthday, Ulla is helping Quirin tend to some crops when a villager approaches. He has a question for Quirin. Ulla had been working on an experiment earlier that day. She wore an apron with Northuldra embroidery on it. Normally when she wears that apron, she always takes it off, but she forgot to. The villager sees the embroidery and immediately realizes that Ulla is Northuldra. Word spreads fast, and within a few weeks, Ulla can’t even leave the house anymore because it’s not safe.

Arendelle and Corona have a strong alliance, so when the war broke out between the Arendellians and the Northuldra people, Corona sided with Arendelle. Because of this, the entirety of Old Corona turns against Ulla when her heritage is revealed. Even inside, she feels unsafe, and even receives death threats. Not wanting to put her family at risk, Ulla flees to Arendelle, leaving Quirin and Varian behind. Ulla hates leaving them, but staying only puts them at risk, and Quirin can’t leave because the king removing the Sun Drop Flower means the Moon Stone’s darkness could awaken at any moment, and Quirin has sworn loyalty to the Moon Stone. Ulla leaves Varian with him because she can’t put him at risk if someone in Arendelle finds out she’s Northuldra.

When Ulla arrives in Arendelle, she writes a letter to Iduna asking her to meet up in private. Ulla wants to lie low in case someone from Corona tries to expose her. She would like to see Elsa and Anna again, but she doesn’t want to put them at risk of being associated with a Northuldra person. (Basically the death threats have her paranoid.)

Ulla finds a place to stay and continues her alchemy research and doubles down on freeing the Enchanted Forest. She meets with her sister in secret. When the gates are closed, Ulla helps Iduna get through it, and researches Elsa’s powers in secret.

Varian grows up without a mother. Quirin considers telling him about her, but Varian sometimes has a hard time keeping his mouth shut, and he never asks about her anyway.

Years later, Iduna discovers that Ahtohallan could have something to do with Elsa’s powers. She tells Agnarr the truth about her past and they agree to sail the Dark Sea for answers. Before they go, they talk to Ulla, who begs them not to. They go anyway.

When the news hits that they are lost at sea, Ulla is absolutely devastated. She struggles with her grief and doesn’t have the energy to practice alchemy. She blames herself for not trying harder to stop them from going. She seeks help, and is eventually able to process her grief. She determines to honor her sister’s memory and free the Enchanted Forest.

She gets back to her research, and eventually resigns to the fact that alchemy can’t part the mist. She begins a relentless quest to find a way to get across the Dark Sea without dying. She tries calming the Dark Sea. She can’t. She can’t even access it because of the mist. She’s able to send things through the mist. None of it ends up helping. She comes up with many theories to get to the Dark Sea. None of them will work. And everything that could work is too dangerous to try.

Three years pass, and it’s time for Elsa to be crowned queen. Ulla attends the coronation in disguise. She’s afraid of someone identifying her, especially after finding out people from Corona will be attending. During the coronation, she encounters Rapunzel and Eugene. She tries to subtly get information about Quirin and Varian. She wants to know how they’ve been doing.

When Elsa creates an eternal winter, Ulla tries to help stop it with her alchemy. She tries to keep her actions a secret in case she messes up. People are already scared. She doesn’t want to make that worse. Her alchemy doesn’t help stop the winter, but Ulla is able to use her skills to keep people comfortable.

After the winter, Ulla wants to reunite with her nieces, but she still can’t risk someone figuring out that she’s Northuldra.

Three years pass. Ulla discovers that the Enchanted Forest has been freed. She wants to know how, and reunite with her people. She’s waiting for the opportunity to reveal herself to Elsa and Anna.

Yet another post regarding the backstory I’m writing.

Iduna’s sister leaves Arendelle but comes back before the accident that caused the gates to close. After they close, Iduna visits her in secret. But I can‘t decide:would Iduna introduce Elsa and Anna to their aunt?

I was originally thinking no, because I always imagined that at some point in the present, Elsa and Anna would come across her in either Arendelle or the Enchanted Forest and discover that she’s their aunt. But, I don’t see any reason why Iduna would keep it a secret, or why she wouldn’t let her sister meet her daughters, since they do have a good relationship.

I just made a post talking about a backstory I’m writing for a character I headcanon as Iduna’s sister. I started working on it, and I‘m planning having the sister do research in hopes of freeing the forest. But I’m not sure how Iduna should react when she finds out.

ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS FOR DANGEROUS SECRETS (Okay, so the caps were probably a bit too much.)
