Should I make a complaint?

Hi all,
I’m visiting Peru for the first time, I’ve had good experience so far - amazing place, beautiful scenary and nice folks
…except for what happened at my hotel

The bellhop, after he wheeled my luggage (it had smooth functioning wheels, I could’ve taken it up myself), opened my room with my card without asking if I need any further assistance, went into my room, did more explaining that I already knew, asked for a tip INSIDE MY ROOM. He was very persistent.

I have Peruvian friends who tell me tips are optional. I have no problem giving tips to exceptional service, but as a woman, having a man in my room, knowing where I stay, asking for a tip felt very uncomfortable.

Is this complaint-worthy to the hotel? I would appreciate honest thoughts from local friends, thanks

How do you deal with “I did it for your own good” comments?

I(31F) have an emotionally immature, highly anxious and controlling father with intense narc tendencies.

It was worse when I was a child, I’ll spare you the details but his words and actions for the day depended largely on his mood.
It was absolutely the worst when he’d just woken up from his nap. Everyone was on their toes not to get on his nerves, and even then, our tyrant managed to get pissed by the smallest remarks or actions (such as spilling food on the table). Sarcastic and sharp comments followed, often ending with aggressive, raised voice saying “how dare you talk back to me, you spoiled brat”.

As I grew older, I pointed out this behavior of his and how I suffered each time. He replied, “I know I have a bad temper. But there are worse people out there who pull temper tantrums all the time. What if your future boss acted like me? If you were clever, you would’ve found a better way to deal with me. It was for your own good. In fact, you could’ve done a better job in those situations. I’m disappointed.”

Whenever he pulls cards like this, I am genuinely lost for words. How do I react to this, if at all?
