Just joined and saying hi!

I'm a 39-year-old woman and realized several years ago that I was not straight. I am in a heterosexual marriage but realized that I was also attracted to women. So I started identifying as bi. But recently I've come to realize that "bi" feels limiting as I am also attracted to non-binary people. So I am now identifying as pan! One of my trans/genderfluid friends reminded me that it's ok to use several flags, so I'm not going to get rid of all my cute bi-color accessories. But I have an excuse to buy some new stuff with pan colors :-)

Anyway, hi everyone! ::waves::

New Supergirl Fan

Hi all! Let me start off by admitting I'm not a huge DC nerd or anything. I grew up with the Batman movies of the 90s, enjoyed some Superman here and there, but wasn't a die-hard fan of any comic book franchise. In recent years I've gotten more into comic books. I enjoyed the latest Superman movie, so a friend gave me his copy of "Absolute Superman" when he was done with it. I was at Third Eye Comics recently and one of the employees overheard me when I pointed to "Absolute Superman" and said to my husband "Oh yeah, that's the Superman comic [friend] gave me." The employee started talking about what he liked about the various Superman comics, then said "I'm looking forward to the Supergirl movie, hopefully you guys are too!" I admitted I wasn't that interested in Supergirl. He asked why. I said I found the drunk party girl thing kind of annoying. He said "Oh well then you'll actually really like the movie, because they explore why she's like that. And you'd like this book..." and hands me a copy of "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." Well, the folks at Third Eye haven't steered me wrong yet, so I bought the book. And let me say, I really enjoyed it! I have a much better understanding of the few minutes we saw of Supergirl in the other movie, and now I'm looking forward to seeing how they portray the story I just read. I'm sorry for judging you prematurely, Supergirl! And props to the staff at Third Eye Comics who are so good at taking my opinions and preferences and making solid suggestions.

Tang Pie has become my go-to summer dessert!

Our neighborhood has a potluck today, and I made a Tang pie! It’s become my favorite shareable summer treat. Easy to make, and very refreshing on a hot day.

Nice find at the antique store today

I assume/hope it died a natural death before being preserved.
