Free Broodscale primer + sideboard guide

Free Broodscale primer + sideboard guide

Hello everyone!

I spent some time toying with mono green Broodscale. Started way before Phlage was banned, and now, all of a sudden, Broodscale is probably the best deck in the format!

I have a few Challenge top 8s with it, including a win. Meanwhile, I tested a ton of different builds, some were pretty stock, others focused on Glaring Fleshraker (I really love the design), and since I'm still undecided which one I should bring for Ghent, I decided to write a primer and sideboard guide for both a traditional build and a Fleshraker build.

If you're looking for something about Broodscale before the upcoming RC weekend, this may be the article for you!

The primer is free: https://mystical-teachings.com/mono-green-broodscale-primer/

The sideboard guide is behind a paywall: https://mystical-teachings.com/broodscale-sideboard-guide/

Together, it's 42 pages and 17k words about Broodscale. In the sideboard guide, I cover the top 18 archetypes in the current format. It took me a lot of hours to prepare, so I hope you'll like it!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments; I'll do my best to answer them all :)

Hello everyone,

In the last few weeks, I decided to go back to Red Belcher - the deck I loved back in the times when Recross the Paths was a thing. After the printing of Stormscale Scion, the Red Belcher got viable again. I tried it at first, but I kept losing to Consign to Memory. The addition of white and Orim's Chant to the deck changed everything.

This is the list that I won the Challenge with --> link here

Currently, I'm 60-17 on MTGO, so it's a solid 77,9% win rate. I have 4x 5-0s. Out of three challenges I played, I won one, top 4ed the second, and 4-3ed the third. The deck is real. In my opinion, there are three reasons why it's good now:

  1. Fast combo kills are essential (turn three happens quite often, turn two from time to time), so you can race other combos and not be outraced vs Energy or Prowess.
  2. Belcher has resiliency to the most commonly played hate cards - High Noon, Orim's Chant or Damping Sphere don't do much if you can play one card and win on the spot.
  3. Orim's Chant is phenomenal. It both protects you from all of the Consigns and other blue counters, but also messes up the opponent's combo turns. And Red Belcher can play a lot of them since once again - if you play one card and win on the spot, you can pack a lot of the cards that aren't connected to the combo plan.

What do you think guys? Am I the luckiest Belcher player on the planet, or am I into something? What are your thoughts about the archetype and the format as a whole?

If you want to see how I won the Challenge, check the video here. It's for free, I hope you'll all like it!

If you are interested in the archetype, consider checking my primer + sideboard guide. It's 12.5k words about how to build, play and sideboard with a deck against the top decks of the current format. Before you ask - yes, it's premium, I spent a whole week writing it, and I strongly believe the knowledge you'll find there is worth it.
