Voodoo hicks?
I was cast as the "sheriff of Hicksville" in an indie movie that was supposed to be titled "voodoo hicks". That was it's working title, so it might actually be called something else. It was filmed around the Pittsburgh area between 1998 and 2001-ish.
The scenario was a kid is adopted and raised in rural Hicksville among the local hillbillies, but when he grows up he follows his roots, becomes a witch doctor and ....? Hilarity ensues? I have no idea, I've never seen anything about it since filming my scenes.
The guy that put it together was named Haddad (sp?). Who also played the titular character.
Last I heard, there was a falling out with the editor (who was also the videographer) and the project got shelved, but for years afterwards I ran into people who has actually seen it.
Another clue, there's also a band called "voodoo hicks" who did a song for it and had a music video out, but that's all I could ever find.
All these years I've never been able to find anything about it. Maybe the title changed before release. Has anyone seen it, or even might have a copy? I've got to see this thing at least once! It haunts me lol
The voodoo witch doctor character has his face painted as a skull, wore a top hat and a (purple?) tuxedo jacket. Blonde fellow, not skinny. It's been 20+ years, I was in college at the time, it's a bit fuzzy.
