Stuck between 2 2000s and 2 3000s
Hi all, spouse and I are moving to an area with mediocre power (that costs a lot). She'd like to have a backup system waiting when we arrive, and I agree that it's good risk management.
Our current plan is 2 Jackery 2000s with 2 200W solar panels. This would let us run essentials in the house off 1 of the 2000s and charge the other with panels, swapping each evening. We'd be running a Starlink (or cable modem/wifi), 2-3 monitors and a desktop, and some fans off the 2000. We would use this to save electricity $$ during normal times. After a natural disaster, it's possible that we'd need to run the house for 2 weeks or so off of this; we would do without AC and figure out if the fridge is correct or not.
Question: is this a reasonable amount of power for this application, or should we go for a 500W solar charger and 2 3000s?
Second question: Does the 2000 have the hardware necessary to be a house generator (instead of just having some stuff plugged into it)? From what I see, the 3000 does. There might be a tax credit for E-only house generators, but we'd need to show plans with the manual transfer switch.
Thanks for helping us wade through the options!
