Shokz OpenFit 2+ BAD sound

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand if this is a known issue with the Shokz OpenFit 2+, or if I’m just unlucky with two bad units.

I first tried the OpenFit 2+ as a demo unit in-store, and the sound was really good. That’s why I bought them. The first pair I received sounded completely different: very muffled, no clarity, almost like the sound was trapped or boxed in. Dolby made it even worse.

I returned them to the retailer. They told me Shokz tested them and confirmed there was a problem, so they sent me a replacement.

I just received the new pair, brand new, and the issue is still there, maybe even worse.

I tested them with two different phones and a computer. Same result every time. The sound is very muffled, lacking clarity, and Dolby makes it worse, it a nosense for an option we pay for.

While waiting for the replacement, I bought basic Apple EarPods for around €20. Honestly, the EarPods sound much better: clearer, more natural, and much more enjoyable. I know open-ear earbuds have limitations, especially with bass and isolation. That’s not really my issue. What I don’t understand is the huge difference between the demo unit I tried in-store and the two pairs I received.

Has anyone else experienced this with the OpenFit 2+?

Could this be a bad batch, a firmware issue, or some quality control problem?

I’d really like to know if this is normal for this model, because right now the sound quality feels completely wrong for a €200 product. thanks
