I just realized that I should not have made my story a smut novel.

Wile it dose contain explicit mature content, its more lore adventurer and action focused.

From what I have seen on webnovel, smut fallen into 4 categories.( i made the names up)

1. Heavy smut: 18+ every 2 chapters, aka garbage

2. High smut: 18+ every 6-8 chapters.

3. Low smut: 18+ every 15-20 chapters.

4. Is it even smut: 25+

I lost a lot of my readers when they found out that it's not category 1-3, but im still happy that I have readers who love my novel despite everything.

Long story short, I had a mini arc with the Mc and his love intrest, did some research and found out I made it too long, most people are going to skip that arc and wait for the new arc is what I was told.

That happened, it is painful to watch.

Anyways, new arc is out, and it's action time.

How many chapters if action can I write before I calm things down and go into more relaxed chapters?

It been a month of writing my novel, i never expected it to get so popular so fast, I was expecting it so reach 1k collections in 2-3 months.

Compared to other smut novels realsed and contracted at the same time my stats are very similar, I wasn't expecting it since I have less than 10 smut chapters in total while other smut novels focus on the R18 and not action.

My readers/ effective readers count stayed very consistent and didn't drastically drop of like i was expecting it a very happy surprise.

By no means am I saying my novel is good I think i made some parts confusing with the plot twists and their is a lot of action for a smut novel.

What i wasn't expecting is my current novel to be getting 2800+ views a day, 10+ collections.

I had a comment say that they came for the horny but they liked the fights.

Like I know that the numbers will drop once readers catch up but this many people here is shocking.

To day is a good day☺️ my novel is doing way better than I expected it to do.

Like it is a smut novel, the Mc is an androgynous guy, and the novel dose not have the Mc cracking some big busty milf, so I thought it would get like 17-25 readers, but this number it's.. its beautiful.

Another good thing is I talked to an administrator about THAT FILTHY SHIT of a novel and now its gone.

I'm felling good about myself, I have had so many novels flopped to the point were I was just going to quit, but after discussing it with the sub a number of people told me to write what I'm good at even if it's not what i want.

I spent 2 weeks coming up with the chapters, story and plot and a month writing( more like 2.5 weeks).

The first day stats are looking good. :)

Also yes it is a smut harem but no it's not slop, their will not be 86 random women and they will not have pointless sex. It's a action, romance so the women that are added are earned through romance.

I started a new novel, I decided I will take 2 weeks to write the premise, storyline and characters and the entirety of June to write the first major arc.

I made the major arc into 3 minor arcs, it will be easy I told myself, only 45 chapters a bit more if I fell like it,and I do the final edits and post on the first of July.

I have 9 days to write and edit the final 50 chapters. I don't know why I gave myself a month to write 80 chapters.

So i was scrolling through webnovel, like I usually do funding novels that I can take inspiration from, when I decided to check out the novel that pop up when some one gives a gift.

I was shocked to see what was in the notifications, turns out as long as your story has romance steady progression, action, comedy and slow burn romance it has a high chance of getting contracted.

Out of the eight novels I scanned 1 was smut, 3 were Yuri, 1 was BL, and the others were normal.

One of the Yuri/ Gl literally said, warning this is an action romance Yuri harem with futa girls.

Do what you will with this info.

So i have been doing some thorough research about my writing skills, turns out the novels that I have written, I suck at writing them.

My most popular novels were the ones that had a twink MC and were comedy/ecchi.

I wrote action, smut system novels, because I wanted to get contracted cause the extra cash would be great, but as I found out I'm not good at these type of novels.

What about you fellas. How's things going for you?

I also know that the novel true stats are when it's contracted.

This is the second version of this novel, the first version was a smut/comedy, it had 104 collections and averaged 35 readers and 20 effective readers daily, Within 9 days.

Since this new version is a slice of life that focuses on the plot I thought it would do worse.

I know I said I'd wait two weeks before I posted my novel, but it's the first of the month and i couldn't wait.

I'm not superstitious but, I think it will bring good luck to my novel.

I have been writing my novel and realized that slice of life is depressing as hell.

My novel is a comedy so I can liven the mood after a depressing conversation between characters, but for authors that don't write comedy/slice of life, how do you do it.

I went through my old novel posted chapters and my current one and just... Holy hell is the difference insane.

For my old novel the rating was averaging 6.5 to 8, on Ai assisted.

The current novel drafts hasn't past a four and averages a 2 on the scale.

I tried to make it a one but it's literally impossible for a fantasy novel, it's so annoying.

Had the chapters checked and the ai said it get a two on the scale not a one because of the last paragraph.

Like thats just how I write, I can't change that.

Bake sure you check your drafts before you post them because even if you made it without ai assistance it can scale very high.
