I would like to ask you a general question. Being this subreddit U.S-centric, are U.S. Americans really open to Long-Distance relationships with people from outside the US? I ask because I´ve been doing some research into this and it seems part of the reason many don´t want a LDR, is because they don´t want to be uprooted from their families, which I understand and respect.

However, what happens when there are few matches in your area? Also what is your view on other cultures? Do you see yourselves being compatible with them?

In many articles and threads I´ve read on the internet, and from my immediate circle, it seems that being multilingual, while admirable really doesn´t make that much of a difference, because English remains dominant. Other languages like Spanish, German, French and Italian don´t seem to be as important. This discussion should hopefuly clear this misconception.

I´ve been wanting to go Down Under several times. Some acquaintances from Melbourne have invited me over several times. I would like to take advantage of seeing the most out of this beautiful country. What would be a good strategy: Melbourne-Canberra-Sydney-Gold Coast-Brisbane? How about Adelaide and Perth?

+Interests/events: apart from landmarks( i.e. Sydney Opera House), I´ve been invited to an event called the Messy Family Project(Melbourne, Sydney). My friend, who's an engineer wanted to take me to a couple of projects in renewable energy where I could potentially work in(I´m an environmental manager), i.e Lower Wonga in Queensland .

+I can´t surf so the beach would not be the best choice. I also don´t know if the shark attacks have lessened as of late. I heard Perth had been hit pretty hard. Is that true? I would at least like to watch an Australian Football match (Melbourne vs Sydney)? I would be coming in October.
