I think its time to play again.

The World Ends With You might just be one of the most important games in my life, kind of what lead to to be who I am today. As such I think I've decided to finally do a full playthrough of both the DS and Switch versions of the game again with the inte to fully analyze it and see what it is about this game that feels so special to me, that is to say Im gonna do a giga-shit video on it.

At this exact moment Id say Metal Gear Solid 3 is my favorite game of all time and TWEWY is second, but through doing an analysis video on both MGS3 and TWEWY (and the nex 2 games after that as well) im gonna try to figure out if TWEWY is still only #2 or if itll surpass MGS3 and become my favorite game of all time.

Regardless of the result, Im just excited to go back to this game after so long!

Where does TWEWY rank for you guys? Is it your favorite or would you say there are others you found more impactful?

Times when leveling up has a unique effect.

One thing I love in games is when leveling up is more than just stat increases, even something as simple as giving you a full heal is a nice touch.

In *the World Ends With You* when you level up it acts as a big attack on the enemies in the form of a large pillar of light, and I always thought that looked really cool.

Are there any other examples of games whrre leveling up does something unique? Or at least more than just showing numbers getting bigger?

Best examples of Characters stories overlapping.

We all like JoJo, dont we? Isnt it cool that Stand users are all drawn together, so weirdos are always gonna find the other weirdos for shenanigans to happen? What are some good examples of other series that do that?

Im watching the 2006 show "Heroes" right now, (show about people with super powers) and while Im aware it goes off the deep end later, one thing I am absolutely loving about season 1 is how all of these very disconnected characters keep overlapping.

Like you got characters from other US states or even other countries, yet they still some how come into contact with each other some how. For anyone who has seen it or wants to be inticed to watch it, the moment that hooked me was in episode >!4!< when >!at the end of the episode we see a future version of Hiro, a Japanese dude who speaks very little english who has the powet to bend space and time (which he uses for simple purposes by this point), approach Peter speaking PERFECT ENGLISH, saying he looks different without "the scar", and warning that some fucked up shit is gonna go down if they dont save one of the other main characters.!< Shit had me hooked right there.

Favorite Bizarre Games?

Fairly simple question, but I know most folk here have niche tastes so I wouldent mind some recomendations for odd and weird games that are still fun.

I just finished Killer7 for the first time, and that was quite the experience. It felt the same way that an experimental album does in a way, a lot of fairly conventional mechanics put onto unconventional ideas and a story that may not leave you knowing what exactly happened but you get the idea of how the characters feel about what just happened by the end... I think? Point is it was a weird game but a really cool experience, and as a huge No More Heroes fan I feel like I paid my respects.

Oh and I might as well mention Cruelty Squad for something more modern and... more weird, but this one is less experimental and more punk counter intuitive for the aesthetic of it, and its great.

Favorite Dopplegangers?

While doing some research on 1 v 1 boss fights (Stuff like Dante v Vergil and what not) I discovered I'm having a hard time finding some good examples of dopplegangers, which is kind of weird since I feel like "fighting yourself" is a trope in a lot of the games this sub likes!

Dark Link comes to mind given how striking his fight in Ocarina of Time is, in fact his fight in Zelda 2 might be one of the earliest examples of a doppleganger fight in games as a whole.

I dont think I'd consider someone like Shadow from *Sonic the Hedgehog* to be a doppleganger since he isnt explicitly trying to be Sonic, Metal Sonic on the other hand IS a doppleganger since... hes a Metal Sonic. (Wheres that guy that wrote that essay on Metal Sonic in one of these threads I wanna talk about Metal Sonic with you.)

What are weird spinoffs of games franchises you like? Stuff like Metal Gear Acid being a Deck building RPG Metal Gear game or the Persona Dancing games being... dancing games in the Persona universe.

I've been going back to my PS3 lately and while digging through some classics I found the one Yakuza game I never finished: Yakuza Dead Souls.

So I popped it in and playing it again feels weird, I genuinely do not remember anything about it even though I got all the way to Kiryu's segment before stopping.

But man its so bizarre, a Zombie game in the Yakuza series... BEFORE 7 I might add. It almost edges on feeling... wrong, like these characters and narrative structure should not be compatible with a Zombie story and a lot of the time it feels almost like its going the route of parody but it reels it in enough to know they were trying to be genuine.

And then theres the gameplay... Resident Evil 4 this is not and boy howdy does it make that clear with its... oddly counter intuative shooting mechanics? Maybe counter intuative is the wrong word but the game teaches you how to shoot in a 3D environment followed by how to at least lock the camera over your shoulder to straif around before taching you how to actually lock your aim so you can hit weak points and it just feels... weird.

Im gonna keep playing it because of how weird this game is, and Id like to see how exactly they decide to end it, could also make for a good video segment but overall... what an odd game.
