Felix (StrayKids) is a Pick-Me??

This a very controversial topic that has been dragged by many fans and critics but never actually brought to awareness -:

To really see why critics label Felix this way, you have to look past general descriptions that might have been wiped by searching for it in this community ( there's multiple addressing to Felix) and examine the specific, exact behaviors that trigger these debates .

1-The Aggressive "Voice Flex"

When critics dig into his musical delivery, they argue that his signature deep voice has transitioned from a natural physical trait into this deep voice that is totally unrecognizable from the show. on platforms like YouTube and Reddit, users point to songs like Maniac and case 143, arguing that JYP Entertainment intentionally isolates Felix's verses right next to high tenors like Han or Bang Chan solely to shock the listener with the how well he is supposedly, when the voice cracks and signs are pretty obvious.. The "pick-me" controversy was shown because fans claim Felix heavily exaggerates this effect during live performances and bts(behind the svene) recording vlogs. They accuse him of intentionally manipulating his breathing instead of using the classical singing technique to exaggerate to introduce artifacts to his singing.

2- The "Brownie PR" Narrative

critics frequently target Felix's habit of baking brownies for staff, managers, and other idols while fans view this as pure kindness, as you might question, how is this a controversy point, well people have argued that it functions as a tactic for the public especially in film or cameras to build this type of relation shield where fans protect him and prove his niceness no matter what, which we can see today, the controversy suggests that he establishes himself as the ultimate industry angel... Creating a environment where any future criticism of his vocals, dancing, or stage presence is immediately shut down by the community as "hating on a sweet person." critics label this move as a pick move or attention seeker /grabbing as it acts as a tactic to grab the moral attention or act up a nice side and build a highly defensive fan base and seem all innocent on camera.

3-The Over-Exaggerated "Fear" Trope

Another common talking point focuses on his reactions during Stray Kids' reality content or horro themed variety episodes like SKZ, people often point to clips where Felix reacts to jump scares/ bugs, or heights, claiming his gasping, hiding behind other members, and falling to the floor is highly performative, critics often theorize that this is an attempt of him building up the reputation of the "in need of protection" or fragile persona where he builds on his vulnerability or appears to seem much more endearing than his bandmates which leads to fans quick to point it out as "cute"

2-The Bubble Cat Incident

The most infamous incident is probably a long conversation that Felix opened with his fans on the bubble cat app stating that if he were to choose to become reincarnated as some type of creature he'd choose to become a cat and rest/be lazy all day, he also proceeded to comment that he wanted the fans to be his owners due to their sweetness "jokingly" stating that he wanted all of them to have his neck leash and take him to many walks, an incident like this isn't exactly new considering how Felix makes many Korean vulgar jokes and fans who aren't very well in Korean misinterpret them which strikes controversy and inappropriate behaviour, which gets toned down despite him seeming to know what he should be saying in spite of the fact he is Australian and his Korean wasn't its best in the survival show days,

Back to the main point-:

Critics viewed the bubble cat comment Felix made as not a joke as something seriously inappropriate because no kpop idol would encourage fans into a parasocial fantasy or publicly say something like that willingly to millions of fans unless they wanted to attract obsessive relationships and wrong attention.

3- Submissive Variety Show Tropes

Finally, critics point to his behavioral patterns on Korean or nternational variety shows where he frequently plays up a fragile, hyper cute persona noting that whenever Felix is teased by his members or put on the spot by show hosts his immediate response is to drop his shoulders, widen his eyes, and use a highpitched/childlike tone to whine or act helpless. People argue that this is a highly calculated move for the viewer to find him as innocent and endearing or in need of protection, or care, as netiziens point it out as some classical internet tactic of a tryhard pick-me

Overall there has been multiple incidents -:

Ranging from him threatening to starve himself of that he "hasn't eaten " and mentioning that "oh well.. I guess I have to take care of myself" which seems very attention grabbing coded ,

Another incident including where he brang down his band mates (in Teen Vogue or Truth Serum, not sure this interaction was a while ago) when asked a question about how they would rank each others looks , he quickly intruded in the question when he wasn't asked and was so quick to say " Oh so you're acting cute " , he made some rude comments as well and ended up labeling him self as superior.

Another incident where he addresses a joke comment that says they hate Felix and Felix replied back saying " I hate myself too" in a tone that is very similar to saying " oh I guess I desves it :("

There are multiple incidents. We won't decide to open another topic but the fact that he got privileged to enter stray kids when he doesn't bring much , well used to.

You could also notice him over exaggerating dances or rather over dancing in some of their dance practices if you focus moreover.

Needless to mention his "distinctive look" that seems a bit pushy .

What are your thoughts on these specific examples? Do you feel like these moments genuinely look forced, or does it just look like a typical K-pop idol doing their job?
