CKD stage 4
My 15 year old cat Mr. Pisze, was just diagnosed with stage 4 chronic kidney disease.
Despite the diagnosis, he still eats, drinks, purrs, and seems to have a pretty good quality of life overall. If I didn’t have the paperwork from the vet, I honestly wouldn’t believe he was this sick, his behavior hasn’t really changed at all.
The vet told us it’s very hard to predict how much time we have left with him, but I doubt that we have a short time with him, at least based on how he is acting day to day. Still, we should start preparing ourselves.
I also started giving him Ipakitine a while ago, just because he’s getting older. I don’t know if it’s actually making a difference, but I keep wondering if it might be helping him stay as stable as he is, considering he’s already in stage 4.
If anyone has gone through something similar with a cat in late-stage CKD, I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.
