I’m planning a trip to Oman from the UAE and contacted my insurance provider regarding vehicle insurance coverage for Oman. They told me they can’t provide it and mentioned that I can directly purchase insurance at the border.

I wanted some clarity from people who’ve done this before:

1. Is it straightforward to get insurance at the border?

3. Does it take a long time?

Is it just me, or does every morning start like a self-improvement journey? I get into the car with peace in my heart, positive energy, maybe even a little gratitude for life. Then I merge onto 311, 611, or Al Khail and suddenly I’m enrolled in Dubai Highway Survival Simulator 2026.

The left lane apparently has evolved into a scenic cruise lane where people discover the true meaning of patience. You flash politely and somehow it becomes a challenge of pride: “Move? Me? Never. This lane was handed down to my family for generations.”

Then there are taxis and Toyota Hiace drivers who seem to take overtaking as a personal attack. Like I accidentally challenged them to a Fast & Furious audition.

I’m not saying everyone needs to drive like they’re escaping a movie explosion, but if someone is clearly faster and flashing, lane discipline exists for a reason. If your destination is “eventually,” the other lanes are available.

Does this happen to everyone else, or is my morning commute just a daily anger-management subscription?
