Got my first printer second hand for an insane deal, any tips for cleaning it up?
This is my first foray into resin printing and I'm looking for advice. I recently picked up these machines along with a number of accessories for almost nothing. Under $50USD for the printer, wash&cure, a second FEP+vat, a bottle of resin, and some accessories like scraper and funnel. The lady selling them said it was a gift for her son from a few years back that he only used twice then it sat in her basement for years.
Clearly by the pictures they are pretty messed up, more so than I realized from the listing or when I picked them up. I'm hoping to still make use of them as they seem perfectly fine on the digital end. I guess I'm mostly just looking for confirmation that my current plan sounds good and there isn't something massively wrong I'm missing.
-The wash tub had a ton of hidden rust I didn't notice until moving the agitator around. seems like a lost cause to me. Not too mad about that since I can hand wash or buy a replacement tub pretty cheap. -My main concern is the screen. It works just fine but has a few scratches and some resin dried on it. I'm only planning to print small accessories for some wargaming minis, so I can just use the side that isn't scratched, but any advice on the best way to clean the resin off would be appreciated. Currently trying with Isopropyl with minimal success, I'm hesitant to scrape it even with a plastic scraper. -the build plate is incredibly scuffed (the scraper she gave me was a random very chipped one with bent corners so I assume that was the cause there). I've heard that some level of roughing up the build plate can actually give you better adhesion but this seems a bit much, currently looking for a magnetic build plate I can just put over it after smoothing off any protrusions. -the second vat+FEP looks perfectly unused. Any tips on cleaning the pictured one would be nice, but I'm fine writing it off.
Anything else I should be wary of or tips for salvaging this? Thanks in advance.
