I’m hoping someone out there can help me identify a cat litter option that’s cheaper than my current brand, Pretty Litter.
I have one cat who is quite particular about her cat litter and Pretty Litter seems to be working okay for her so far.
While overall, I’m happy with it, this stuff is PRICEY and I’d love to find a similar litter that’s a bit cheaper (such as corn or wheat). I also need it to be a lighter weight cat litter as I’m disabled.
Please don’t recommend pine pellets, or any other pellets. I can’t use them for a variety of reasons. Clay cat litter will also not work.
I am simply seeking people’s experiences with corn or wheat-based litters, or any other similar types of cat litter.
I have a mobile home and typically buy K-1 twice yearly, once in the summer (when prices are lowest) and then once mid-winter. However, because of the ongoing war in Iran, I’m wondering if now is still the best time to buy and would love to hear people’s thoughts. The current price in my area is $4.489 (obviously a sharp increase from this winter).
If I buy now, it’s possibly the lowest price and the greatest availability. However, assuming this war ends in the next couple of months (a girl can dream), prices MIGHT go down a bit. However, I also run the risk of not being able to access any K-1 or only a limited supply at a higher price if the war continues.
Obviously it’s a numbers game. I’m a single parent and while I can afford either option with savings, I obviously want to get the better deal.
Shoutout to Imani Jade Powers, who reads the audiobook version of Agustina Bazterrica’s novel. What a powerful performance of this book! The book is intense (and good lord so well-written), but her reading of the author’s words adds a layer of meaning that is truly transportive! Even if you’ve read the book, I would highly recommend listening to it as well. What an experience!

I can’t seem to find the answers to these questions and will follow up with my provider as well, but I’m interested in the following:
I’m deeply concerned about cross-addiction. I’m in recovery and have been sober 12.5 years and counting. I have a strong program BUT I’m still concerned about relapse. Has anyone in recovery successfully navigated this? I do know someone else in recovery who had RNY and she’s stayed sober but doesn’t seem very happy, which brings me to my next question.
If you were diagnosed with depression and anxiety prior to surgery, how did it impact that after the surgery? I have both and am able to treat them with therapy only. I’ve taken meds in the past but would like to avoid them if at all possible.

After over a year of frustration, pain, steroid injections, nerve ablation, and physical therapy, I’ve finally lost enough weight to have much-needed back surgery!
Man, what a time I’ve had. My first appointment with the surgeon, I was told I needed to lose about “twenty pounds or so” before I could be approved. I needed extensive surgery, meaning multiple fusions and a laminectomy due to severe degenerative joint disease and nerve compression from bone growth in the foraminal canal. I spent the next three months trying to lose weight on my own due to preconceived notions about GLP-1s, even though it was suggested to me by my sports medicine doctor. I finally decided to start on Wegovy in August 2025, mainly because I misread my insurance company’s formulary (ugh). Follow up visits with the surgeon in the fall made it clear I was still too fat for surgery.
Six months on Wegovy yielded only 15 pounds of weight loss. Finally, in January, I switched to Zepbound. I’ve lost over twenty pounds! This drug has been miraculous for me. I am so, so grateful for Zepbound.
Surgery is scheduled for 6/12!!
Like a lot of people who realize what’s at stake in this election, I’ve been following the Graham Platner campaign closely. I’ve also been fascinated by the “recent revelations” about Platner published in both the New York Times and the right-leaning Wall Street Journal, as well as the resulting social media debate about what those articles disclose.
A couple of thoughts, then:
Why is Graham Platner receiving so much attention at the national level? Why is the establishment going after him with seemingly everything they have? Well, consider the possibility that Platner is a genuine threat to the status quo. Poll after poll has him beating Collins. He speaks the truth plainly, he understands that the system is rigged, and he’ll be a real voice for the working class in Washington. Nothing could be more terrifying for those who benefit from our current system than someone like Platner.
I’m also fascinated by the number of social media accounts all making similar comments about Platner’s “scandals”. They all run something like this: “Well GOSH, I’d just love to vote for Platner, but I’m getting CONCERNED. I’m no fan of Collins but this Platner fellow has me worried!” Similar comments, similar talking points, different accounts. If you think the Republican Party isn’t trying to astroturf a Platner backlash, you haven’t been paying attention to how their dirty political machine operates.
Stop listening to the bullshit. Platner can win. Platner can be a real voice for us in Washington. His ideas are solid, he’ll work hard to better the lives of Mainers, and he’s got my vote. If you want things to change, he should have yours.

I just made my first meal from TVP and I am in LOVE. Those who buy it often, any tips on the cheapest online price that isn’t Amazon? Cheapest I’ve found is 4.10/pound. I searched the sub and most recommendations are from years ago. I don’t have a Hispanic or Indian market in my area. There’s one that’s about a twenty minute drive from my house and I don’t even know if they carry TVP.
I have a mobile home so my heat and AC both use forced air through ducts that run under my trailer. Today I cleaned them out using my vacuum cleaner, and then by running through a garden hose with damp rags attached to one end after popping off the vent covers.
I was curious if people had other methods to accomplish this? The rag and hose combo was an idea from one of my neighbors who does this on the regular, and it definitely works pretty well, but it has me wondering if there are other ways to do this that might be more efficient.
