And why do you think so?
My answers:
Thaddues - we can all agree that he's the most underrated in all of them. Bro got snubbed. He just background until his big moment in season 5 in last episode.
Nathaniel - the first and also his last big moment is his calling after that he just a pretty much a side character. Nothing big happening about his character
Philip - love his energy and what he brings to the group but just like nathaneil the writers didn't give much anything big for his character
John - this felt weird to me considering he's part of the big three (Peter, John, Paul)
I’ve read the New Testament so many times, and every time I come across this verse, I can’t help but feel a little emotional thinking about everything the apostles went through.
But after watching The Chosen and growing so attached to these characters—seeing them portrayed as real, three-dimensional people—this verse hits so much harder than it ever did before. The show made them feel human, with their own personalities, fears, and emotions. It’s just really sad when you stop and think about everything they had to endure.
I literally on the verge of crying while typing this no joke
btw this is in 1 Corinthians 4:9-13 for anyone want to know
James the Lord's brother/cousin played a big part in the early church and even became the leader in Jerusalem church. I'm assuming they will include him in The Way but I'm curious how they gonna do it without offending the Catholics. Are they gonna make him Jesus brother or they will made them cousins?
The Thomas and John friendship feels so force to me. In Season 1 and season 2 I didn't see a hint or even forshadowing they will be close. Then we go to season 3 episode 1, they back in Capernaum after Jesus sermons and suddenly they became this so close, insperable. Like did I miss something? I wish they could done it better. I mean look at Matthew and Philip I really love these two friendship (it's one my favorite). Although their friendship kind of fell off after the actor of Philip got replaced. Thomas and John close friendship wasn't earned the same way these two. I know a lot happening in the story off screen but the writers could done better than choosing to shove us how close John and Thomas are without showing us a proper build up of their closeness or how they became that close. With this as a viewer I can't help to feel their friendship feels force to me. Idk, this is just my opinion
Can we talk about how the show didn't give his character much attention as it should be as being part of Jesus's inner circle. If you look at John and Peter the show give them beautiful arc especially Peter. And the development of Peter and John's relationship with Jesus, and how they grew closer to Him, was portrayed really well. Then you look at James... I can't even barely name a solo scene/moment between him and Jesus. If I weren't a christian and never read the bible then I watched the chosen, I wouldn't guess he's one of Jesus closest disciple. No shade but Matthew would pass more (imo). When there's a scene of Jesus with his inner circle, It's feels like he's part of the inner circle for the sake of being part of the inner circle.
This is all constructive critism to the writers (no hate)
Did Peter touch John's hair with his wet hand just to mess with him? Or was he actually removing something from John's hair... or maybe he fixing his hair? 😭
We know very little about what happened to the apostles after Jesus ascention. Most of them just mentioned onced in the book of acts. Do you think they will follow the traditional beliefs about them when they do the Way of the Chosen? Like Big James going to Spain and Thomas to India?
In all honesty, this is something I missed when I first watched the show. After rewatching it, I realized that Jesus has a unique relationship with each of the disciples, but in my opinion, His bond with John just hits differently.
John seems to be the most openly affectionate toward Jesus and never hesitates to show his affection for Him. He's also the only disciple who says, "I love you," to Jesus. All of the disciples have different ways of expressing their love for Jesus, but John's is the one I connect with the most.
You can clearly see John's admiration, attentiveness, and compassion for Jesus in his eyes. George is incredibly good at expressing emotion—his eye acting is amazing. You can see almost every emotion just by looking into his eyes. He portrays both the "Son of Thunder" side and the loving side of John exceptionally well.
The show did an excellent job of translating the closeness between Jesus and John in Scripture to a television series without exaggerating it or downplaying it.
I also think the on-screen chemistry between Jonathan and George helps a lot. It makes the closeness between Jesus and John feel natural, genuine, and convincing.
I got expectation they will include this part. Lowkey dissappointed they didn't. It would be interesting how they going to do it.
When Jesus said to Peter "Ask my Father in heaven how long a thousand years is. Then talk to me about 'soon." I laughed because I know they referencing to what Peter wrote on his second epistle 2 Peter 3:8. I just love those little referrences they put on the show.
So I've been thinking about this lately. John the apostle often depicted wearing green tunic on paintings throughout history and in the chosen John wearing green tunic also. Does the costume department choose this intentionally for this reason or this is just coincedence? Answer seems to be obvious but I just want to be 100 percent sure
