Preparing for a Masterbuilt "Black One" (BLK1) tribute build... The loaded body is from Genesis Pickups and the neck is custom made by a luthier
Need a little adjustment to fit my neck + some drilling to fit the tremolo claw, so I'm going to take it to a tech to get it assembled and set-up. The loaded body from Genesis Pickups is incredible!! The raised wood grain has a 3D texture that can be felt, similar to the exorbitantly expensive masterbuilt copy of John's BLK1... so I guess this guitar build will be a copy of a copy? 😂 From what I can tell, the black lacquer is nitro as well.
The locking tuners are from Hipshot, they sell them in gold with the pearloid tuners, in case anyone is looking for a cheaper but high quality alternative to the original Schaller elites.
I relic-ed all gold hardware myself by using micro mesh on the surface, and then putting them in a Tupperware container full of vinegar vapor.
I am beyond pleased with the body from Genesis and if anyone is looking to build one of their own, I highly recommend checking them out.
The neck is custom made by a luthier with reference pictures of a masterbuilt BLK1 to have a similar relic job and appearance. I opted for slab rosewood and a thinner neck, as those are my preferences but I believe the masterbuilt is a veneer board.
is it 52mm or 55mm? (E to e string spacing on the bridge) thanks!!!
