Why shouldn't you buy defensive items on melee damage dealers?

I totally get it when talking about adcs or mages. Those champions have range, they usually don't need to be durable.

However on champions like Diana, Briar, Gwen, Jarvan IV, and so forth, I worry a lot about CC and burst damage. When I get a couple of kills on those champions and finish my two items, like Lich Bane+Shadowflame or Profane Hydra+The Collector, I feel tempted to buy a big HP+resist tank item, because at that point the enemy champions finish their first damage items too and they group up more, which increases the likelihood that I'll get hit by CC and eat a bunch of damage.

Am I wrong to feel that way? If I look at Master+ rank builds, it is always an "either/or" thing. If they buy big damage, they never buy HP and vice-versa. Don't get me wrong, I've seen games where the glass cannon builds pay off and they never stop snowballing, but I've also seen games where they get repeatedly nuked and throw the game, like when a fed full AP Diana keeps getting hit by Ashe arrows or Syndra QE and then dies to a couple of basic skillshots without accomplishing anything.

WTW for the salesmen tactic where the first offer is outrageous, so that the final price is still too high?

Example: someone wants to buy second-hand hardware in person and the trader initially demands twice as much as you would pay when buying said item from the secondary market online. The trader expects negotiations and thinks the buyer will ultimately accept a negotiated price that is still way higher than what they would pay elsewhere, just less awful than the initial offer.

Things to do when resting your wrists?

Wrist pain after playing PC games consistently for a few hours per day over months is nothing new, in the past I simply quit playing for a few days and then it was fine.

Nowadays I work manual labour with hammer, screwdriver and so on, so recovery takes longer. I need to rest my hands during my free time for at least a week, which means as little mouse & keyboard use as possible.

I still want to get better at League of Legends in that time, but experience is the main thing I'm lacking, I already sifted through a ton of educational content. What would you recommend?

Is ARAM actually a good way to practice teamfights?

I'm feeling confident in my laning on Summoner's Rift, but I suck at teamfights and my ARAM winrate (regular, not Mayhem) is only around 20%.

Of course, I could grind ARAM just to get better at ARAM, but I play League for standard S.R. and not ARAM. However regular S.R. games are long and don't feature many teamfights, so it's not very time efficient if I want to get better at those specifically.

Either way, a major drawback of ARAM is that I rarely get the champions that I would pick on S.R. (Diana, Irelia, Briar, Zaahen) and since I specialize in melee bruiser champions, it feels like I'm sabotaging the ARAM by picking those over someone like Lux or Leona.

Looking through search results, this was a commonly discussed topic 10 years ago, but the answers vary:

Multitasking and fumbling under pressure

I perform best in games where I can tunnel vision on one objective or one enemy at a time and not have to deal with the chaos of teamfights. Like when games are decided in lane phase or by me splitpushing and winning duels in sidelane. Then I even win with 0 deaths and 8+ kills sometimes.

However in games where I have to group up, I struggle a lot. If my team starts baron while the enemy team approaches and one of my teammates flashes out of the pit for a surprise attack, I get thrown off completely. Then I begin to make major micro mistakes, like mistiming my Smite as jungler, or fail flashing against the pit wall when I normally wouldn't have any trouble doing it, or losing track of my champion in the crowd as soon as I unlock the camera, or missing all my skillshots.

Stuff like this here is my worst nightmare: https://www.reddit.com/r/summonerschool/comments/1myx171/i_made_this_gametool_for_training_multitasking_in/

What is the best way to handle this? Should I play to my strengths more by positioning away from my team, or do the opposite in an attempt to fix a weakness through exposure? So far I leaned towards the first, so my champions aren't that great in teamfights to begin with.

Diminishing returns on ability haste/cooldown reduction

Let's assume your champion doesn't have a special ability where more cdr is always worth it, but you still want some A.H. to be able to fight more often. Taking a 90 second cooldown R and 6s cd Q as example:

Ability Haste R cd (s) Q cd (s)
0 90 6
5 85.71 5.71
10 81.82 5.45
15 78.26 5.22
20 75 5
25 72 4.8
30 69.23 4.62
35 66.67 4.44
40 64.29 4.29
45 62.07 4.14
50 60 4
55 58.06 3.87
60 56.25 3.75

The diminishing returns kick in really early. At which point would you say should you avoid spending more gold on ability haste?

How to carry games as jungler?

I don't have much trouble carrying games if I'm playing in lane. Winning through splitpushing comes natural. I just aim for the towers and this eventually gives us an opening to close out the game after winning a fight from behind.

However as jungler I struggle a lot. I don't get much access to towers without drawbacks for the laner. Destroying the tower of a losing lane is hard and will doom the laner, since the wave will push deeper. So I can't really focus on the towers.

I also have the job to handle epic monsters, but doing those solo is risky and trying to teamfight with losing lanes often results in number disadvantage situations that I can't overcome. Like if my toplaner died and used TP to get back to lane, while the enemy toplaner saved TP to join the dragon fight. I also tend to lose lots of time walking over to the objective, only for my laner(s) to get picked off before I can do anything. Then I'm at a number disadvantage and can't fight and it would also take too long to walk over to a lane and destroy a tower, so I can only go farm. My lead quickly disappears this way.

Should you fight Epic Monsters solo after winning a skirmish?

You're the jungler, it is 07:40 and you just won a top+mid+jungle 3v3. Your botlane is busy with their lane opponents. Your midlaner and toplaner survived too, but they're not interested in the objective, they'll just crash a minion wave, walk into a bush to recall and then return to their lanes to catch the next wave pushing back to them.

You have enough HP left to kill Voidgrubs or Dragon by yourself, but the enemy jungler will have respawned by the time you finish walking there and it will take you at least 30 seconds to kill all three Voidgrubs or Dragon solo.

You don't know if the enemy team has vision over Voidgrubs/Dragon, but they can see your laners, so they'll at least know that nobody is helping. Would you still risk it?

If you don't take the objective and instead recall to start your next clear, there is a chance that the enemy team does it instead while your laners are in base. However if you get caught by the enemy jungler before killing the monster solo, then you die and they get the objective for free.

How to have agency in losing matchups?

All laners lose sometimes, causing them to get zoned out of XP and gold.

High elo players rely on ganks from the jungler or support to flip bad matchups, since the wave never crashes into the tower of the player who keeps damaging the minions, but you can't and shouldn't expect low elo teammates to know when or how to gank a losing lane, much less to carry the whole game for you.

Like if I'm on Zaahen vs Teemo, Viktor, or Quinn and my jungler comes to gank at lvl 5 while I'm down to 50% HP and there is a big minion wave crashing into my tower, I can't help them with the fight. In the worst-case scenario my jungler gets counterganked and we both die.

The safest thing to do would be to sit back and accept that I'll be useless until I've farmed up in sidelane, while leaving all agency to my teammates. However then I also can't expect my chance to win that game to be high.

Roaming when behind is perhaps an option for Pantheon, but not every champion can play the 2nd jungler. Not to mention that my odds of doing a successful gank are lower when behind, the worst thing I could do is feed another lane. So what to do?
