If you’re a fresher coming to Southampton, you need to get organised against racism!

Race riots have started in Britain. Black and brown people have been violently targeted on the streets. In Glasgow, people had to lock themselves in their mosque to escape the riots. Far right activity has gone far beyond protests about immigration policy. They are profiling and attacking individuals, families and communities on the basis of race.

This is not an accident. This is the result of an intentional years-long propaganda campaign from the top of society promoting 'stop the boats’. This came from the Conservatives, Labour, every mainstream media outlet, and only then Reform, Restore and Elon Musk.

They promoted the culture war to hide the truth: It is not people fleeing war who have privatised the NHS. It is not Muslim workers who put up the price of food and energy. It is the capitalist elite who get rich off of the cost of living crisis. The more they prolong the culture war, the longer they get away with bleeding us dry as we blame each other.

Get organised!
The example of Minnesota
Earlier this year, ordinary people set up community defence networks to protect themselves from ICE. As soon as ICE agents appeared, they could rapidly inform one another to mobilise against them.

What we must do
Participate in activity with anti-racist or workers' groups; connect these groups together in discussion with grassroots solidarity. Consistently advocate mass methods, such as action networks, which connect as many people as possible. Dissuade reliance on the police or the political establishment, who won't help humiliate these racist thugs off our streets. Provide an alternative to the culture war with politics which can inspire: there is enough for everybody in society, but it's in the hands of capitalists. In short, what is most desperately needed is more organised communists.

What is a communist?
The Communist Manifesto explains: "They have no interests separate and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole. Practically, they are the "most advanced and resolute section" of the working class, "that section which pushes forward all others". Theoretically, they understand "the line of march, the conditions, and the ultimate general results of the proletarian movement."

Israel is annexing the West Bank

In 1993, the Oslo Accords were signed, laying the blueprint for the violence today. By paying lip service to a future Palestinian state, the Zionists got everything they wanted:

The West Bank was stratified. Apartheid walls were erected. East Jerusalem was colonised. There was no right to return. Jewish settlers were bussed into fortified towns secured by military checkpoints, creating a labyrinth of colonies cutting across the West Bank.

This was all sanctified by the official 'peace process, which in reality has buried Palestinian statehood under the ruins of apartheid and genocide.

Israel is annexing the West Bank using capitalism

1. Financial incentives flowed into the settler project: tax breaks, cheap loans and huge grants for businesses.

2. West Bank gravel quarries are used by Israeli capitalists to extract limestone to fuel construction in Israel 'proper and the settlements.

3. Industrial zones producing plastics, textiles and metal goods, such as Barkan and Mishor Adumim, were developed using the cheap land and even cheaper Palestinian labour.

4. Fertile soil in the Jordan Valley feeds the global Made in Israel agribusiness, while so-called defense firms such as Elbit Systems use the land of occupied Palestine as a testing ground.

The two economies are linked by a thousand threads, with the shekel being the common currency, and the Palestinians a captive market.

Block everything for Palestine!

Students in our society asks those paying lip service to the fiction of a 'two-state solution': where is this state meant to be? In Gaza, buried beneath the rubble? In a West Bank carved into disconnected, strangled enclaves: In Saudi Arabia, as Netanyahu has previously jibed? It does not matter what prosperous Palestinian state you imagine for tomorrow when your actions have ensured there is nothing left to call Palestine today.

Last September, the UK, France and Canada recognised the state of Palestine. Along with the International Criminal Court, the apparatus of the 'rules-based order' has achieved nothing.

In fact, it has only served to distract from the sole course of action which can actually oppose Israeli capitalism: mass militant action from workers and youth.

Dockers can block arms shipments. Engineers can prevent the manufacture of weapons. Lorry drivers can stop weapons being transported. Media workers can prevent the publication of the capitalists' lies.

This is how we win. We must fight the enemy at home.

As long as there are Zionist states and reactionary dictatorships in the Middle East, there will be no meaningful peace for the Palestinians. One-state, two-states, or a sea of isolated enclaves: there will be no just settlement for the Palestinian people on a capitalist basis. To end all the suffering and oppression in the region, the forces of reaction must fall.
