We're a small video game studio, and we built our own platform to hire and work with voice actors. Would love you to tear it apart.
We're building a pixel-art MMORPG, and we're at the point where we need voices for our characters. Like everyone, we've watched the industry drift toward AI voices and honestly, the reason we built this is that we'd rather work with real actors and make working with them genuinely easy.
The problem is that when we looked around, there wasn't a platform that made it simple for a game studio to audition, cast, and actually record lines with voice actors over the long haul. So we made one.
Here's how it works:
- You audition for a role.
- You get the part, and you unlock all the quests your character appears in.
- read and record your takes right inside the app, record, trim, edit, redo, all in the browser.
- We review each take, approve it, or send feedback so you can do another pass.
- When we write new quests or add content, you get notified there's fresh stuff waiting, log in, and record it.
- You get paid per word (we default to $0.05 per word but we need to add the ability for you to set your rate?), and the role is yours for the long term, not a one-off gig. (payouts coming soon)
It's early and rough and plenty of features are still missing, which is exactly why we're posting, we want your feedback. Even if you're not looking to audition, going in and telling us what's broken, confusing, or missing would help us enormously.
The whole point is that if human voice acting is going to hold its ground against those who choose AI, we need to make the tooling around it better, less hassle, faster turnaround, whilst building a a real ongoing relationship with a role. For now, we're just trying to make it easy for us to cast and work with actors in our game.
If you fancy auditioning for one of our characters, sign up here: https://voicebooth.app/ And if you just want to poke holes in it, that's just as welcome.
Happy to answer anything in the comments.
