This is part 3 of my master 8 rewrite in this part I’ll discuss the third round of the tournament.

Round 3:
3 Cynthia vs 8 Alain
Despite Alain’s strong start Cynthia is in a world of her own and is easily able to bring down the newcomer.

1 Leon vs 4 Diantha
One of the biggest criticisms of Leon was the fact he didn’t have many feats of power prior to his battle with ash. So this gives him a chance to battle against a strong trainer and prove he’s stronger by winning this match as well.

5 Steven vs 7 Iris
This match is pretty straightforward Steven would defeat Iris however as the match ends Iris can tell she’s getting stronger.

2 Lance vs 6 Ash
Lance is one of the strongest in the tournament so he isn’t a slouch. Ash meanwhile is desperate to get a win after his loss to Cynthia. Ash’s strategy seems full proof but things go left as Lance turns the tide and comes out the winner. However as the battle ends Lance can tell ash hasn’t reached the peak of his strength and if he keeps growing he will get much stronger.

What are your guys thoughts and what would you guys do differently ?

This is part 2 of my master 8 rewrite in this part I’ll discuss the second round of the tournament

Round 2:
8 Alain vs 5 Steven
In this match I would once again have Alain win. Showing his growth from the kalos series and him finally defeating Steven. This would also fuel Steven as he knows he must get a win soon.

4 Diantha vs 2 Lance
Before the battle begins we get a flash back to the previous M8 tournament. During last years semifinals Diantha and Lance fought and Lance was able to defeat her. This time Diantha is after revenge and after a hard fought battle Diantha will come out the winner defeating Lance.

6 Ash vs 3 Cynthia
Despite how far ash has come he’s will lose this match however he is able to push Cynthia to the brink almost winning.

1 Leon vs 7 Iris
Leon would win this match even though Iris has gotten stronger she isn’t on Leon’s level just yet.

What are your guys thoughts and what would you guys do differently ?

It’s no secret that the masters 8 tournament is one of the most criticized arcs in the series. Despite being the ultimate test for ash it doesn’t feel that way. In my opinion making the tournament Round Robin would have helped flesh out the arc even more. So I came up with my own version of the M8 tournament where it’s a round robin and would like to hear your feedback.

The tournament format would be this the first 7 rounds would be 3v3 round robin matches the 4 trainers with the best records would move on to the semifinals stage which would consist of 6v6 matches.

I will be splitting the post up by round starting with Round 1.

Round 1:
4 Diantha vs 8 Alain
Despite Diantha being the heavy favorite of the match I would say Alain wins the match. Not only showing that he’s grown since we last saw him but also showing that he’s no pushover. For Diantha this would just be a sort of passing the torch moment as the next generation rises up.

3 Cynthia vs 5 Steven
This match doesn’t need much explanation Cynthia is just much stronger than Steven so she wins mid difficulty.

1 Leon vs 2 Lance
Lance and Leon are arguably the Strongest here since they fought in the finals of last years M8. It would be a tough battle coming down to the wire but Leon would win.

6 Ash vs 7 Iris
A battle between the next generation it would be a tough fight showing that both trainers have gotten much stronger since the last time they fought but in the end ash would win.

What are your guys thoughts and what would you guys do differently ?

I’ve heard many people say they where upset when aiger beat valt. However as a valt fan I was happy when valt lost. Seeing him pass the torch was amazing and knowing that valt could lose made future battles even more suspenseful. I was just wondering if anyone else felt this way
