Going into as little detail as possible intentionally, just ranting.

I get promoted to assistant DUG manager. Couple weeks later, all of this happens in the span of a few days.

Tuesday: Manager gets put on leave (she has no choice).

Thursday: no call no show from someone and i found out just because i happened to be in store buying dog food. This person opens the next day. My shift that day is 12-5.

Friday: I get woken up by a call at 7 in the morning. No call no show from the same person, the department has been unmanned for an hour. So i go in 5 hours early and find out just a few hours later that the ncns is quiet quitting. Great. Now i gotta fix the schedule for next week. Which just so happens to be the week that our regular closer, our POWERHOUSE of a closer, is going on vacay (nothing against them, they deserve a vacay). So i manage to call someone else in to cover my afternoon absence, and i clock out at 1 after looking at the state of the orders and deciding it looked manageable for who was there.

It got worse.

Two hours later I get a text from the closer saying the store director asked me to come back for about an hour or so.

So after working an additional three hours, I'm called up to the store director's office and the conversation more or less went like this:

SD: Are you ready to step up to manager?

Me: Not really.

SD: Are you gonna do it anyway?

Me: Yeah probably.

If I had to ask for advice after all this, I would probably ask what the best cigarette to start out with is for an aspiring smoker.
