What's in it for the BIW?

What's in it for the BIW?

SO... Following what was revealed about From, I wonder what victory brings to the "players"...

MIY gets to have fun, socialize a bit and the best part is the massacre. That's when he's free to collect the livers and eat. Feeding and experiencing the chaos seems to be the prize for winning a cycle.

What about the BIW? He's not a ghost kid, so he probably don't need to be freed... And it seems he don't eat anything or have fun. He don't even like to play with people, he's always tense.

What will be his prize if he wins the game?

Anghkooey?

Anghkooey means "remember"... But those kids were born, raised and died in USA, didn't they? Then why would they start speaking this language in the afterlife?

If the writers had them saying "remember" it would be equally puzzling 🤔

Why did they paint this?

I mean... IDK if it was the MIY or the monsters who did it, but they could have used Jim's blood to leave a finger-painted message anywhere they wanted... But one of them had to get a brush and a can of paint and do it so carefully...

First mystery

When I was just a little boy
I asked my father, "What will I be?
Will I be handsome, will I be rich?"
Here's what he said to me
"Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que será, será
What will be, will be"

You know what I noticed? The guy in those lyrics asks his own dad if he'll be pretty and dad's like "no idea". This guy must be UGLY AF if even his parents can't say he'll be pretty 🤔

And later he says the same to his kids, proving it's probably a family thing.

For the audience

That was clearly meant for us, the audience, and Ricky(Kenny) has a point here that some people don't know... In From the audience knows more than the actors. The people acting in the show know as much as their character, unless they too became part of the audience and saw beyond their work.

That said, I think people should avoid demanding more from the actors. I bet their DM's are flooded with messages wanting more, wanting answers, angry or sad... But they are as confused as we are 🥹

How did he get in?

This is probably too weird for the other From subreddits, but I always wanted to know... How did Smiley get inside Fatima's womb?

Like... For real... He was still alive when she started feeling pregnant, then he died without having any contact with her or Ellis that day.

MIY had to make a formal deal with Clara and cut his own hand to manually get his blood inside her bloodstream. But Smiley just jumped straight into Fatima without any ritual.

RPG

This place plays with people like an RPG, but it won't tell you that it gave you special traits as soon as you entered the town...

Julie was lucky to learn she has "storywalk" as a power, she only needs to get better at it... But it makes me wonder who else got "powers" and what they can do:

Sara can tap into the voices, she could spy the creatures if she learned to control it.

Elgin, Ethan and the people who had seizures can see visions of this place. Important locations, happenings... They could see beyond the normal eyes if they controlled it.

Randall has something living inside him. The cicada entity entered his body and that's why the monsters couldn't kill him, they were afraid of what the cicadas would do to them.

Jade, Victor and Tabitha have a ton of experience with everything.

Boyd's neurological problems aren't real, that's something else manifesting in his body. It is growing according to how they move forward in the game.

Fatima is the only one developing her skills with the Golem and the transformation.

The monsters keep repeating, it's a game... And games need to be fair to work. The talismans are a good example of what the human team has to defend themselves, but they don't realize they also have things to counterattack.

Undead Golem

They should get the bones and attach them to the Golem. The ghosts will power it up and let it SMASH everything.

I don't mind the 1999 CGI, I actually enjoy it. The night creatures will stop smiling.

Get the bones and...

They're risking their lives to get the bones... Ok, and no one has any idea of what they need to do with the bones.

I wonder if they had to get them through another route and take them to the tree to teleport to a special place designated by the sacrificed kids...

Elgin's true weakness?

I was thinking about Elgin's fate, then I noticed a pattern...

He arrived in town and isolated himself, only opening up with Julie, his first friend.

Easily accepted the existence of monsters, but when the Kimono woman came for him, he thought she was an angel.

After capturing Fatima, Boyd caught him and hurt his hands, but his confession only came when Sara removed his eye.

To Boyd he said something like: "soon or later then town will learn the truth of what you did". When talking to Julie about losing an eye, he said it's part of God's plan...

Even with damaged hands, he managed to kill a creature in colony house and save a lady about to be attacked.

Found a picture of Sophia and showed her instantly...

Elgin's weakness is the presence of a female 🤔

If a girl is involved he'll lower his guard, if she's a monster he'll find an excuse to contact her.

If she violently removes his eye he'll forgive her and say it's God's plan.

When he sees a girl in danger, hell forget the broken fingers and instantly grab the nearest weapon.

And when he finds this mysterious photo, he found the perfect excuse to talk to this new cute Blondie who grew up in a religious house, just like him and his grandma.

Dude just wanted to be loved 🥲

Kenny S5

I just hope this man doesn't die in the next episode...

Look at his noseless face, that's a protagonist right there... I want to see a Kenny vs Smiley episode, so he can avenge his family.

Fred is coming

In The Grand Gooligog, Gooligog welcomes his distant cousin, Storywalker Fred. He's a man that mastered the story walking skill and travels as he please.

Gooligog learns from his cousin how to create bookmarks and what's needed to travel properly.

Theory: Julie is the Gooligog and she won't travel properly until she finds "Fred", her distant cousin. But who's her cousin that mastered story walking? Eloise.

Eloise is daughter of Miranda = Tabitha, the different incarnation separates Julie and Eloise, they can't exactly be sisters... Maybe "distant cousins".

In the book, Gooligog and Fred are cousins, but they're not even the same species.

When Henry dreams he's in a hospital, people are already there taking care of him... But Eloise is coming, she's taking the plane to see him.

When "dream Eloise" arrives, real Eloise will also arrive in town and find Julie. Maybe she'll teach her how to story walk completely, body and mind, and that this is the method that kept her safe all those years.

They're alive + MIY

They're trees powered by the hope of the sacrificed children and (theory) they might be as active as any other human in the town, just less mobile.

When something goes inside the hole, the tree analyzes it with it's own intelligence, they're not random.

When Victor threw a rock inside, the rock spawned midair, at a tall height. The tree knew Victor was demonstrating the mechanism, if the stone spawned somewhere close to the ground, no one would find it, ruining the demonstration.

We were taught it does things randomly, but it never did:

Sara and Boyd go in, the tree takes Sara back home and under the church, where she can hide. The tree knows ppl are against her during this time! Then it takes Boyd to Martin and pushes the story forward.

Victor goes in, the tree sends him to save Tabitha.

Tabitha goes in, she goes to the lighthouse.

When Dale goes in, the tree hates him and puts his body inside concrete. The tree knew he was problematic and stabbed Ellis 👀

Now... I wonder what would happen if the MIY or any creature were thrown inside a faraway tree 👀👀👀

Don't touch the bottle tree!

The children poured their hope into the roots and it became the tree.

The trees are some of the most magical things in the series.

WHAT IF the bottle trees represent the wires that expand the "good magic" throughout the land? The magic cast by the children as their dying wish.

IF this is true and people remove that bottle tree, they'll immediately turn off all the good magic they ever used.

No more amulets, no more totems, no fast healing in town, no electricity, maybe not even water in the pipes...

I think I've found out the MIY weakness...

https://preview.redd.it/79dnkf7hzu6h1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c7684580a3a115412e93e686f0914124ae139bb

I think they showed us how the MIY can be hurt, based on how he's secretive about it.

  • MIY hides to transform into people.
  • MIY never changes its clothing.
  • MIY wash its clothing instead of changing it (it was covered in blood in the massacre).
  • The suit defines who/what MIY is.

My theory: if people destroy his clothes, he dies. But I think each form is tied to its own thing. For example, Sophia might not be damaged by the destruction of the yellow suit. That's why she wont wear anything other than that dress.
