Is my plant supposed to look this way? Do I have mealy bugs or something weird?

I just bought this plant from a place and my friend says she has notice some of their plants having mealy bugs, which leave a white residue.

I’ve never owned this plant before and I noticed that it had this white cast but I didn’t know if it was just like that, I tried wiping the leaves down with water and it lightens, than darkens again.

Pls lmk if I need to quarantine. I don’t want my other plants to die.

I just adopted a kitten and saw his paw looked weird.

I’m in the US with a vet accessible, I’m definitely taking him to the vet soon anyway, just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before. He’s 2 months and he was neutered on Monday.

Edit: This is his back left paw and all the other ones look normal
