[FF+M4A] “Not your choice, Bloodbag.” [vampire soldier speakers] [general speaker] [human soldier listener] [involuntary listener] [TW: Bullying, Violence, Death, Listener death][your fate isn’t in your hands anymore]

((Part1: Your new, special special-team))

Okay for monetization (just credit me as the writer) and let me know where I can find it if you filled this script, please.

Ideas for a description: You’re a special forces soldier. The existence of vampires and other supernatural creatures is nothing new anymore, you even had some encounters with supernatural enemies already.
Recently there have been rumors that the army has been experimenting with putting vampires into service themselves for quite some time. You didn’t really give those speculations much thought, you and your unit work like a well oiled machine and do your duty whenever it calls for you. But one day the general overseeing your operations approaches you, you specifically.

Little help:

G= General I (or whatever letter you want) 1350 words
VS1= Vampire soldier T (or whatever letter you want) 1250 words
VS2= Vampire soldier E (or whatever letter you want) 710 words
<What I imagined as listener part in the dialogue>

Sounds
/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words”

(little explanations)
all the sounds are just suggestions. You can change them or leave them out as you see fit

Script starts here:

G/relaxed/ “At ease, soldier.”

<What brings you here, General I?>

G/kinda non-chalantly/  “I am here to tell you that you will be transferred to another base.”

<We’re switching bases? What about the mission we are training for?>

G/neutral, maybe a little desinterested/ “Don’t worry about the mission, your ‘previous’ team will stay on it.”

<‘Previous’ team? I don’t understand, sir…>

G/laughing/ “You’re the only one that goes.” /to serious/ “High command selected you to be a new member of a really special unit under my command.”

<A really special unit? What is this supposed to mean, sir?>

G/non-chalantly/ “You can get more details when we are on the plane later…” /to commanding/ “Now get your stuff, the flight is scheduled to take off in an hour.”

<But what about my position in my old team? What about all my->

G/slightly annoyed/ “ABABABABA, it will all be taken care of. Your team will get a replacement to fill the gap…  and don’t worry. You can keep your little ‘machine shop’, the transport of your stuff is already organized.” /to commanding again/ “Now get ready!”

<Yes sir…>
Sounds of footsteps fading out
Whatever noise you’d use to signal the passing of some time
Sounds of being inside a flying plane
(added context for general speaker, the general knows more than he is willing to tell listener, so adding to the descriptors for the tone of voice he may be also careful, a bit hesitating and a bit nervous for the next part )
Page on a book getting flipped
<Sir, can I ask now what I am in for?>

G/sighs/ “I guess I said you can have more information…” /contemplative/ “Hmm… Where to start?”

<How about my new team?>

G/quietly/ “Heard of the V- team before?”

<Can’t say I have, sir.>

G/whisper/ “They are vampires, soldier.” /short pause/ “... we have bloodsuckers working for us.”

<So command really is trying to get some vamps into our ranks?>

G/somewhat non-chalant/ “It would be wasted potential if we didn’t give it a try.” /to contemplative/ “Those vamps got some ‘qualities’ that make them a good fit for our missions. They are insanely quick, strong as all hell and they don’t appear on cameras…”

<This sounds really impressive, sir. How many are there?>

G/in awe/ “Their abilities are really impressive, soldier.” /to a bit frustrated tone/ “We only got to-” /stops himself, trying to sound calm/ “We could only recruit two vamps so far.”

<Two? Are there other soldiers to bring the number of the team up?>

G/a bit quieter/ “There are no plans to put more people on the team. Having only three members will probably be beneficial to your missions…”

<So I will be the only human in a team with two vamps? Won’t I slow them down? What role am I supposed to be playing?>

G/trying to laugh it off/ “Don’t worry about slowing the vamps down. You’re a capable soldier, we’ll find a solution. High command is working that out.”

<If you say so, General. But that leaves the question about my role in the team open…>

G/little annoyed/ “You’ll be support, soldier…” /hesitating for a little moment/ “You’ll help them out IF they need it.”

<IF they need my help? When would they need my help?>

G/pretending to be really annoyed to wiggle out of answering/ “The hell would I know what they need your help for! Discuss that with the vamps directly.” /short pause, not enough for listener to say anything, then still annoyed/ “Now, can I read my book in peace?”

Sounds of being inside plane fading out
Again some time passes (at new base)
Door opening

VS1/bored/ & VS2/desinterested/ “Hello General…”

VS1/annoyed/ “What brings you here, General I? Why are you disturbing us during our downtime?”

G/trying to be sound commanding, but a little nervous/ “I want you to-”interrupted by

VS2/excited/ “You brought us another human?!”/to sinister/ “Did you organize a PROPER meal for us?”

Some rustling or stuff (the vamps dropping everything and jumping to their feet)

VS1/in disbelieve/ “You brought us a mortal?” /to also excited/ “So none of those awful plastic bags today?”

G/frustrated/ “Get yourself together, ladies!” /to a bit more calm/ “They are not your dinner, they are your new team member.”

VS1 & VS2 /surprised/ “Our new team member?”

G/trying to sound confident/ “Yes, your new team member.” /already losing confidence/ “At least try to be nice…”

<I am excited to get to know you, I am->

VS2/angry/ “Quiet human! Did we ask you to speak?”

VS1 /also angry/ “We did not, did we?”

G/uncomfortable, hurried/ “I’ll leave the introductions to you… I gotta go, I have meetings to attend now.”

Some steps, then door again
If you wanna get really fancy you can have the voices of the vamps changing from side to side, like they are circling around the listener like sharks, slowly creeping ever closer over time

VS2/sceptical/ “What do you think, T?”

VS1/intrigued/ “I don’t know E. Looks like high command sent us a soldier this time. What unit did they pluck you from?”

<Special forces, Eureka team>

VS2/wondering/ “Special forces, you say? Eureka team?”

VS1/kinda excited, but in a malicious way/ “Supposedly they are the best those mortals can muster…”

<Supposedly!? We- >

VS1/frustrated again/ “SHUSH! We are the ones asking the questions here!”

VS2/aggressive/ “You keep your mouth shut until we tell you to speak!”

<Oh is that so? What is your rank if you think you can just boss me around?>

VS2/laughing/ “Our rank?”

VS1/malicious/ “No ranks here, we are outside of that.” /calm, but threatening/ “You better do as we say…Or we will make you, BB.”

<BB? That's neither my name nor my initials…>

VS2/amused/ “BB stands for bloodbag, bloodbag.”

VS1/amused and confused/ “Didn’t the general tell you about your role in the team?”

<He told me I’d be support for your missions.>

VS2/laughing again/ “Support?! That’s certainly a way to say that.”

VS1/little disappointed, annoyed/ “Of course the general didn’t have the balls to tell you…”

<What is going on here?>

VS2/mockingly/ “What is going on?”/to degrading/ “Didn’t you connect the dots yet, Bloodbag? I’d say it’s pretty obvious.”

VS1/amused, but slightly malicious undertone/ “Look, BB. It’s actually pretty easy. High command wants to send a human with us so we can have a fresh drink if the situation requires it.”

VS2/degrading/ “You’re nothing more than a walking E-ration to us. That’s all you’re needed for. That’s why we’re gonna call you ‘bloodbag’.”

<A walking bloodbag? ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!>

VS1/slightly annoyed/ “Yes, a walking bloodbag. Keep your voice down, nobody is shitting you, BB.”

<Why don’t you carry some normal bloodbags with you!?>

VS2/enjoying listeners discomfort/ “Oh, we do carry some regular bloodbags with us. But those forbidden Capri Suns don’t cut it for some applications.”

VS1/disgusted/ “those damn plastic bags…”/to a little annoyed/ “they only help to alleviate the hunger. If we want to boost our abilities, or if we need to heal… we need fresh blood…”/to malicious/ “…like really fresh…”

VS2/ominous/ “Straight from someone with a beating heart…” /to excited/ “What do you say, T? Should we have a little taste?”

<A little taste?!>

VS1 /non chalant/ “Don’t act so surprised, Bloodbag.”/to also excited/ “A little taste sounds like a wonderful suggestion. Good idea, E.”

VS2/mischievous/ “We need to make sure the quality is up to our standards…”

<Oh no, you keep your fangs off of me!>

Sounds of a little scuffle (Listener trying to get away, maybe only managing two steps before the vamps pin them to the ground), maybe ongoing noises of listener struggling for the next bit

VS1/fake encouraging/ “Come on, hold still.” /to ominous/ “No use in trying to resist us, BB.”

VS2/degrading/ “We are far stronger than you!”/to annoyed/ “You got no way out of this.”

<GET OFF OF ME!>

VS1 /mockingly/ “GEt OfF oF mE!” /to threatening/ “You got no choice in this, bloodbag.”

Sounds of fabric (the vamps pulling up listeners sleeves)
<Let me go! What are you doing?!>

VS2/malicious, enjoying the situation/ “Letting you go? Hahaha, not until we had a taste.”

VS1/fake caring/ “Don’t worry, we are just pulling up your sleeves…” /to ominous/ “So we get access to your skin…”

<On my arms?!>

VS2/scoffs/ “Of course on your arms! You think we’d go for your neck?!”

VS1/amused/ “Neck is way too personal… we reserve that for people we care about…” /to talking down/ “Which has been none so far…”

<STOP IT! If that’s a hazing ritual, you have taken it far enough!>

VS2/amused/ “No no, this is not ‘hazing the new guy’…”

VS1 /ominous whisper/ “We are dead serious…” /to non-chalant/ “Final question, BB. Do you smoke?”

<What?>

VS2/annoyed/ “Are you deaf, bloodbag?” /to more angry/ “Do. You. Smoke?”

<N-no?...>

VS1/satisfied,happy/ “No? Oh, that’s rare around here. Now I am really excited for that taste!”

VS2/threatening whisper/ “Don’t you dare start after this, you’ll regret it…”

VS1/getting annoyed/ “Will you stop struggling already!? You weak mortal can’t wiggle your way out of our grip!”

VS2/amused/ “The more you try to move, the more it will hurt.”/to malicious/ “Not that WE care about that!”

<STOP IT!!>

VS1/mockingly/ “Screaming at us to stop won’t help you, bloodbag.”/to threatening/ “Now hold still, mortal! That’s your final warning!”

Noises of the vamps sinking their teeth into listeners arms and drinking, like, a lot.
So, if you wanna be fancy again, I’d suggest having a little distortion on the voices (listener on the verge of passing out) from here…

VS2/pleasantly surprised/ “Oh my…”

VS1/pleasantly surprised too/ “Their blood… tastes exquisite!” /to thinking/ “I really hope they last us longer than the other ones!”

VS2/eagerly/ “That would be nice!”

<...the ... other… ones?...>

VS2/just surprised/ “You’re still concious?”

VS1/non-chalantly, just brushing it off/ “Haven’t heard of the other ones? We have been on missions before… with mortals to accompany us.”

<What… what happened… to them…>

VS2/not giving a shit/ “High command mostly sent inmates from prison… they weren’t well behaved most of the time…”

VS1/coldly/ “Or could watch out for themselves when we were in enemy territory… We had some ‘wear and tear’ in this team regarding the bloodbags.”

VS2/excited/ “But you are the first soldier high command sent us!”

VS1/malicious, hopeful/ “As an elite soldier… You should know how to show some discipline… and how to survive out there…”

<... you… YOU->

VS2/angry/ “Ah-ah-ahh, you better shut up.”

VS1/threatening/ “Whatever curse you want to throw at us, don’t. It will be better for you, trust us…”

<...damn you…>

VS2/disapprovingly/ “Look at them… Laying there, completely helpless. Pathetic mortal!”

VS1 /annoyed/ “Come on, it’s just a little blood loss!” /little pause, to completely not giving a shit/ “Lend me a hand, E. Let’s throw them out into the hallway, so their heavy breathing won’t get on our nerves!”

VS2/malicious laugh/ “Good idea, T. Let’s do that.”

Sounds of the vamps grabbing listener, door opening and them literally throwing them out into the hallway, then door closing again
Moment of silence, two or three steps approaching listener (General didn’t had stuff to attend, just waited outside the vamps room)

G/frustrated mumble/ “Goddamn… Of course these two wouldn’t hold back…” /to annoyed grumble/ “And right the evening before the first scheduled training…”

<I…I…>

G/feeling kinda sorry/ “Save your strength, soldier…” /trying to be nice/ “Let’s get you to medical. They may have a little trick to get you on your feet by tomorrow.”

to here.  Sounds of General helping listener up, then walking them to medical (fading out)

Time passes (next day)

Sounds of footsteps (running) fading in, coming to a stop
VS2/talking down/ “Are you finally done with your laps? I don’t understand why we had to wait for you to finish…”

<...Yes… … I am done…>

VS1/disapproving/ “You are pathetic, bloodbag. How often did you get around the course? Five, six times?”/feeling superior/ “We ran 30 laps in the same time!”

<...six times…>

VS2/mockingly/ “And we aren’t even out of breath! You on the other hand… you are panting like a dog!”

G/with authority/ “Cut them some slack, ladies!” /to annoyed/ “You are the ones who drained them yesterday…”

Sounds of fabric rustling (VS1&2 +Listener standing at attention)
<General I!>
VS1/unmotivated/ “General…”
VS2/unmotivated/ “General…”

G/a bit more relaxed/ “At ease, soldiers.” /to matter-of-factly/ “Now that we established the difference in your physical abilities, I have another exercise for you to complete.”

<... oh crap…>

VS2 /frustrated/ “Another exercise?!”

VS1/annoyed/ “Is this why we had to wait for our slow bloodbag to finish their laps?”

G/trying to stay calm, but an undertone of frustration/ “Yes! Can you two slow down on your snarky comments? Their times are quite good for a normal soldier! Impressive even, considering their compromised state after you two couldn’t keep your fangs to yourselves!”

VS1/desinterrested, slightly annoyed/ “We did that stupid little obstacle course, we ran our laps… What else do you want us to do?”

VS2/also slightly annoyed/ “We have better things to do than playing around all day long on those damn training grounds!”

G/smug/ “It won’t take long. I just want you two to run another 5 laps.”

VS2/annoyed/ “Another five laps?”

VS1 /frustrated/ “Why haven’t you told us earlier? We could have been done already! Why did we have to wait for bloodbag to finish their laps for that?”

G/gleeful/ “Well, you see… There’s a little twist this time.” /trying to sound as commanding as possible/ “You two take turns carrying them around the course.”

Little moment of stunned silence

VS2/shocked/ “WHAT?!”

VS1/laughing/ “That’s a good one! Like we would lower ourselves to carry a mere mortal!”

<Is this necessary? I think I can manage another five laps…Will take me a while though..>

G/stern/ “I am dead serious.”

VS2 /in denial/ “You can’t be.” /with a hint of anger/ “You MUST be joking…”

VS1/getting angry/ “What the hell?! We are vampires, NOT MULES!!” /to angry hissing/ “What purpose is this ‘exercise’ supposed to serve?!”

G/smug/ “Solving the logistical problem of them keeping up with you during the missions.”

VS2/very angry/ “You want us to carry them during these too?! Not happening, FORGET IT!”

VS1/frustrated/ “This is unacceptable! Why not drop a motorbike for them to get around, like we did on previous deployments?”

<I’d be more than happy with that, General.>

G/matter-of-factly/ “These previous missions showed that this is not a satisfactory solution. It may get damaged during the drop, if not the motorbike is still too loud to get close to the enemy in undercover operations. It would also make extraction more difficult whenever we don’t want to leave any traces…”

VS2/in denial/ “No, no… NoNoNo! I won’t carry a mortal around!”

VS1/pissed/ “Me neither! What are you even thinking, General?!”

G/seemingly unbothered/ “Don’t get angry with me, ladies. High command came up with this, I am just the messenger."

VS2/screams out in rage/ “These Assholes!”

VS1/defensive/ “What if we… You know… just don’t?”

<Do we really need to do that, General I?>

G/sternly/ “It is a ‘direct order’* from high command… You know what that means.” *(emphasis on ‘direct order’)

VS2/suddenly much calmer, maybe intimidated even/ “A direct order?...”

VS1/much less confident, much calmer, in disbelief/ “Direct order from high command? For this?!”

G/commanding/ “Yes! Now get your act together! This will be a recurring event in the training programme from now on.”

VS1/seething with rage, words pressed through gritted teeth/ “Fine then… if this is what high command wants…”

VS2/despaired whisper/ “I can’t believe we have to do this…”

VS1/yelling at listener/ “You heard the General, Bloodbag! Hop on my back, so we can get this shit over with!!”

Some fabric rustling (listener climbing on VS1’s back)

VS2/angry/ “The fucking humiliation…”

Sounds of quick footsteps fading out
again time passes (next day)
Beeping of an electronic doorlock, vamp’s voices muffled from here…

VS1/surprised/ “What the…?! Why is my keycard not working here?”

VS2/annoyed/ “Let me try with mine…”
just another beep, door stays closed

VS1/getting angry/ “Command gave us access to nearly every room on base, but we are denied entry to bloodbag’s room? This is bullshit!”

VS2/frustrated/ “They take the joy out of everything… If I get my hands on them one day…”

someone pounding on the door aggressively

VS1/shouting with a hint of anger/ “HEY BB! OPEN UP!”
a bit of silence (vamps waiting)
VS2/trying to sound nice, but clearly annoyed/ “Come on Bloodbag. We are not here to drain you, let us in!”
again a bit of silence
VS1/threatening/ “Open the damn door, bloodbag! If you let us in now, we’ll just pretend you didn’t hear us the first time. If you leave us out here, we will drink you dry when we see you the next time!”

VS2/malicious/ “We’ll make sure it won’t be pleasant!”

door opening
<What do you want?>

VS1 /ominous/ “Ahh… there you are…” /to slightly threatening/ “I don’t like your tone, BB.”

VS2/stuck up/ “Don’t take so long next time, bloodbag.” /to really snobbish/ “Aren’t you inviting us in?”

<Would you stay out if I don’t? Like in the movies?>

VS1/fake laugh/ “Ha ha ha…” /to really annoyed/ “That we can’t enter a house or room if we are not invited is just a fucking trope. It does not matter.”

noises of vamps shoving listener out off the way

VS2/better than thou attitude/ “Out the way, mortal.”

vamps taking some steps, stopping abruptly

VS1/confused/ “This… this is your room?”
<...yeah?...>
VS2/also confused/ “Are you sure? Looks like a workshop…”

VS1/dumbfounded/ “You got a lathe, a drill press, a milling machine, a bench grinder… And what is that supposed to be?”

<This little guy helps me measure charges and fills up the cartridges. It’s for loading ammo.>

VS2/perplexed/ “For loading ammo? Why would you load your own ammunition?”

<I need specialized ammo for my rifle. I produce it myself.>

VS1/in disbelief/ “What do you mean you make specialized ammunition for your rifle? Are you not satisfied with the standard-issue stuff?”

<Standard issue won’t fit. My rifle is custom build by me.>

VS2/trying to hide that she’s impressed/ “You- you build your- you build your gun yourself?!”

<Yeah. Everything custom made, always working on improving my baby.>

VS1/in disbelief/ “I don’t believe that you built your rifle from the ground up. All by yourself? You have to be joking.”

<But it’s true!>

VS2/realizing/ “So that’s what all these machines are for?”

<yes>

VS1/aggressive/ “Can’t be that special. Let’s have a look!”
noises of VS1 grabbing the riffle off a table

<CAREFUL!>

VS1/hissing/ “Calm down, I won’t break it!” /getting quieter/ “Holy cow… the diameter of the bore…” /to baffled/ “Are you hunting elephants with this?!”

<Not elephants, but you need some extra punch for the supernatural.>

VS2/surprised/ “So you faced the supernatural before?”

<Yeah, and I decided our standard battle rifle wasn’t enough.>

VS1 /quiet mumbling/ “And you decided your standard-issue rifle wasn’t enough…” /trying to wave it off/ “You are crazy!”

noises of VS2 picking up some sheets of paper

VS2/somewhat intrigued/ “Hey T! Found some of his paper targets!”

<Hey, keep your fingers to yourself!>

VS1/hissing/ “Shut up bloodbag!” /to teasing/ “Why don’t you want us to see? Had a bad day at the range?”

<Kinda…>

VS1/cocky/ “You did? Now I REALLY wanna see. Show me, E!”

some paper rustling

VS2/less enthusiastic, quieter/ “These groupings aren’t too bad…”

VS1/also much less cocky/ “What distance were you shooting? 200 yards?”

<500>

VS1 /shocked/ “500 yards?!”
VS2 /shocked/ “500 yards?!”

VS1/very quiet whisper to E/ “This is insane!”

VS2/very quiet whisper to T/ “I know!”

<What are you mumbling about? Did ‘a mere mortal’ impress you?>

VS1/trying to play it cool/ “We? Impressed by that? Nah. We… just… uh…”

VS2 /quickly throwing in/ “think your shooting skills are satisfactory.”

<As you say…>

VS1/being more confident again/ “Anyways, that is not what we came here for.”

VS2/ominous/ “You know, carrying you yesterday was quite the embarrassment for us…”

VS1/sinister undertone/ “You know, you sitting on our backs while we ran that stupid course… That was pretty humiliating!”

<Look, I can understand that… I would have preferred to avoid that exercise too!>

VS2(creeping closer to listener)/sinister whisper/ “Look, we don’t care whether you wanted to participate in that exercise or not, bloodbag…”

VS1(also getting closer)/very serious tone/ “We just think you got off looking WAAAY better than us…”/to slightly threatening/ “And we can’t have that… Can we, E?”

VS2/ominous/ “No we can’t.”/to cursing/ “Those damn mortals at high command and their stupid ideas!”

VS1/frustrated/ “The general made us make a fool of ourselves… And you know what that means?”

<I’d hate to think about it…>

VS2/suddenly very motivated/ “We are gonna make you make a fool out of yourself, BB!”

<The fuck is that supposed to mean?!>

VS1/commanding/ “Grab them E!”

sounds of E grabbing listener, listener struggling

<Come on, let go off me! Being carried wasn’t my idea!>

VS2/amused/ “Let you go? How about no?” /to annoyed/ “I know we both held you down last time…but you should know by now that one of us can easily overpower you… Just stop struggling.”

listener stops struggling

VS1/malicious laugh/ “Oh, you’re learning! How fitting!” /to gleeful/ “We brought you a little something, so others here at the base can laugh at you too.”

sounds of a buckle and a little bell jiggling

<A fucking collar?!>

VS2/sinister/ “Aren’t you an observant one? Yes, that’s a collar.” /to gleeful/ “Take a guess where it’s going!”

<NO! Keep your hands off of me!>
listener starting to struggle again

VS1/gleeful, malicious/ “Don’t start thrashing around again now, you can’t free yourself from E’s grip!”

sounds of bell and buckle again

VS1/sarcastically/ “Look, it has this ADORABLE little bell… and it’s made of nice soft leather…” /to malicious again/ “I am sure it will look reeeaaaally nice on you!”

<DON’T PUT THAT ON ME!>

VS2/fake caring tone/ “Now now… I’d stay calm in your place. Stop wiggling around, don’t make it harder for T to put that lovely collar on you…” /to malicious/ “We wouldn’t want you to get hurt, do we?”

<STOP IT! GET OUT OF MY ROOM, LEAVE ME ALONE!>

VS1/amused, mocking/ “Leave you alone? After we came all the way here? We gotta reach our goal first.” /to malicious/ “Don’t make this difficult…”

jingles of the bell and sounds of T putting the collar around listeners neck

VS2/amused/ “They are still struggling…“
<TAKE IT OFF!>
VS1 /calm, malicious/ “I guess I need to make it tighter then, not that they shake it off ‘accidentally’.”
Collar tightening, buckle closing
Listener struggling less
VS1/sarcastic/ “Oh my, seems it’s much harder to resist if you can’t breathe, huh BB?”

VS2/enthusiastic/ “Maybe we could call them ‘pet’!”

VS1/highly amused/ “What do you say, bloodbag?”

<No response, listener would be gasping for air>

VS1/mocking, amused/ “I can’t hear you…” little pause “But you don’t look too happy.”

VS2/mocking/ “I guess they don’t like it then.”

VS1/thinking/ “I think we’ll stick with BB or bloodbag then.” /to laughing/ “I think it fits pretty well, look how red their head is getting!”

VS2/also laughing/ “T, you are so right! This is awesome!”

VS1/with a frustrated undertone/ “As fun as this is, I am afraid we need to dial it back a bit, E…”
sounds of VS1 fiddling with the buckle again

VS2/disappointed/ “Oh… you're loosening it already?”

<listener would probably be coughing for a bit and breathing heavy before able to speak again, so no dialogue to account for here>

VS1/disgruntled mumble/ “Yep… I don’t wanna get in trouble with high command… They didn’t care much for what we did to those inmates, but I don’t need them angry at us if we killed this bloodbag outside a mission…”

VS2/quiet grumble/ “Maybe you’re right…” /louder to listener/ “Hey bloodbag, I let go now, careful to not fall on your face!” /chuckles/ “Though that would be funny to see.”

maybe a jingle of the bell again as VS2 lets go

<...You… …are… …crazy!...>

VS1/little annoyed/ “Yeah, yeah… we’re crazy… tell us something previous bloodbags haven’t said already…” /to really angry/ “HEY! Keep your hands away from that buckle! Don’t you dare try to take it off, we’ll make you regret it!”

<You’d like that, wouldn’t you?!>

VS2/friendly/ “Come on soldier. Keep that collar on, like a good… obedient…pet…” /to the most threatening tone/ “If you don’t… We’ll break every bone in your body!”

<Get the fuck out of my room!>

VS1/trying to act innocent/ “Calm down, BB. We will leave now. Goal accomplished…”

Some steps moving away from the listener(the vamps heading for door) then noises of listener fiddling with the buckle on the collar
VS2/hissing/ “What do you think you are doing?!”

<I am not running around the base like that!>

VS1/angry but also excited/ “Wohoho! Didn’t you understand what we said! FINGERS AWAY FROM THAT BUCKLE!!”
more noises of listener trying to undo the collar

VS2/pissed grumble/ “You had your chance…” /to angry words pressed through gritted teeth/ “Don’t say we didn’t warn you!”

Quick steps towards listener again
VS1/malicious and excited/ “You’re just making it more fun for us!”

Sounds of the vamps beating up listener (punches, kicks, bones breaking, like the vamps going full out, listener falling to the ground after a couple punches but vamps just continuing, maybe you throw in some mad laughter of the vamps too) until the sounds fade out as they beat listener into unconsciousness

beeping of medical machines slowly fading in (going on for the whole scene)
just a little rustle of bedsheets

G/relieved/ “There you are, soldier… Glad you are still with us.”

<G-... General?... What-... Where? >

G/quiet but commanding/ “Take is easy, the vamps beat you up really good” /very quiet/ “I expected you to be a goner when we found you… Your lights were out for 3 days…”

A bit more rustling, little jingle of the bell again, short moment of silence

<Why am I still wearing this thing?!>

G/uncomfortable/ “Well… the ladies put that thing on you… Ain’t nobody here to dare take that collar off of you…”

<Not even you?>

G/uncomfortable/ “I-... … …I don’t mess with them…”

<You had no problem ordering them around out there!>

G/slightly frustrated/ “I know that I ordered them around on the training grounds! But that’s a different situation!”

<Why is it any different?!>

G/very quiet, feeling kinda guilty/ “Everything outside the base is something high command is involved in the planning…” /to frustrated/ “What happens inside here, they don’t care. If the higher ups don’t have my back, my word means shit to the ladies…”

<Looks like the V-team’s organization is awful..>

G/frustrated mumble/ “It’s a difficult situation, soldier… You don’t even know half of it…”

<You know what? I don’t care. I want to go back to Eureka Team!>

G/not surprised/ “You want to go back to Eureka Team?... Can’t say I blame you…”
silence (G thinks for a moment)
G/mumbling/ “I kinda expected that… I got you the official papers to request a transfer,  I’ll have a chat with high command in a couple minutes…”

some steps as G leaves, medical machine noises fading out and back in again, some steps as G returns
scribbling of pen on paper from here… (maybe throw in a little jingle of the bell from time to time)

G/quietly, slightly nervous/ “You already started filling them out?”

<Of course, I just wanna leave. The sooner I am out of here, the sooner I can take this damn thing off!>
little jingle of the bell

G/discouraged/ “About that… Hand me the papers, soldier.”

<What? But I am not finished filling them out…>

G/frustrated grumble/ “It doesn’t matter that you aren’t finished with those… “/more commanding/ “Hand them over.”

<What’s wrong, General?>

G/louder/ “Hand them over!”
G ripping the papers from listeners hands and tearing them apart

<General? What is going on?!>

G/quiet whisper/ “You aren’t going anywhere, soldier…”

<What? I don’t want to be a part of the V-team if this is how I am treated!>

G/frustrated again/ “Whether you want it or not, it doesn’t make any difference! The way the vamps treat you is not of importance!”

G/trying to be a little calmer/ “High command reviewed your performance when you were a part of team Eureka and they decided that you, YOU SPECIFICALLY, are the right soldier for the V-team. They don’t care that the vampires beat you nearly to death! They don’t want anybody else, so you are stuck here…”

<This can’t be legal…>

G/scoffs/ “Legal? You thinking about the legality of this?” /to grumbling/ “You should be aware from your work with the Eureka team that we are working outside the boundaries of law…”

<Easy to say for you ,______!>

G/angry/ “DON’T you ever use my first name again, soldier! We may have been to basic together, but we weren’t buddies back then and we aren’t now!... Face it, there is nothing I can do for you!”

<I won’t work with those damn vampires again!>

G/defiant/ “Oh, you won’t work with the vamps again? What are you going to do about it?”

<I don’t know, but I am sure that I won’t hang out around these psychos any longer! I’ll find a way!>

G/calmer, worried/ “Don’t you think about going AWOL, soldier. These two now had a taste of you, they can find you wherever you think you could hide.” /to very serious/ “If you try to run, high command will take away the little protection we can give you.”

<Protection? What protection?>

G/grumbling/ “Well, they don’t get in here. They won’t get into your room as long as you keep the door shut. I know it isn’t much, but it’s something…”

<What if I just disappear?>

G/frustrated/ “If you just ‘disappear’? They will send these two after you, but not to bring to you back…” /quiet, maybe even regretful/ “Trust me, you don’t want that. You’d be lucky if they kill you outright. If not, what you experienced so far was nothing…”

<So you just expect me to take this shit?>

G/ashamed/ “If you wanna say it like that… Yes. I just expect you to take it…”

<You are a fucking coward! It’s easy to say that when you aren’t the one beaten up!>

G/more angry/ “You call me a coward?! You think I am doing this shit out of enjoyment?! ”

G/really angry/ “Do you think anyone on this fucking programme is here voluntary?!”

G/yelling/ “YOU HAVE NO IDEA!” /a little bit calmer, but still very angry/ “We captured E when she was draining a target we were looking for! We had her in captivity for five years, then T did enlist on her own. But do you have any idea what happened to them after that?”

<N-No…?>

G/frustrated, maybe a bit desperation showing/ “I don’t know how they did it, but High Command found a way to drug and incapacitate them! They performed a surgery to put an implant in their heads that will blow their brains out if they don't follow their orders! They have as little choice in this as you!”

<Stunned silence>

G/groaning/ “Of course this doesn’t excuse their behavior… but they are just as stuck as you are. These two need something to let their frustrations out…/to frustrated/ High command even encourages this shit, because it keeps the combat effectiveness of the vamps up…”
another moment of silence
G/regretful/ “I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I mean it when I say: I am sorry you ended up being their punching bag…” /to a whisper/ “I tried protecting the people high command sent over at first, I really tried… But High Command didn’t had my back… and that ended with me in the same position as you are right now…”

G/very quiet/ “Nearly beaten to death one too many times…” /to sad/ “I know this is incredibly selfish, but I have a family at home. I want to see my kids grow up, not end up dead because I challenged those vamps…”

G/regretful whisper/ “I am sorry, soldier. I apologize for taking the easy route of letting them harass you…” /taking a deep breath/ “... but I can’t help you here… ”
more stunned silence for a moment

<Fuck…>

G/quietly, trying to lift the mood/ “Hang in there, soldier. At least you will be on your feet quickly…”

G getting up to leave, noises of medical machines fading out

[A4A]Fangs and Bullets [Vampire elite soldier x human soldier “bloodbag”] [TW: Injuries, Violence,Death,Guns][strangers to friends] [brothers/sisters in arms][special forces]

Okay for monetization (just credit me as the writer) and let me know where I can find it if you filled this script, please.

You can change out words and pronouns if you want to make it more specific, I just wrote it A4A for convenience.

I tried to go for a two in one here. This could be vampire speaker & human listener, but also human speaker and Vampire listener. This is why I included the “full” dialogue, just pick the role you want. (Although I think it works better as vampire speaker, but that’s just my opinion)

Idea for description: (If VS speaker) Vampires are a thing. You are a special forces soldier, when you hear about a programme for human soldiers to team up with a vampire soldier. Command grants your transfer request, so now a new part of your service awaits you.

(If M speaker) You are vampire, enrolled in the army. Special forces, Command wants to make use of your special abilities. But the army won’t send you out alone, there are plans to have a human by your side.  Then, one day, someone volunteers to be your partner.

I have to throw in the full script as a google document, 'cause as it turn out its too long for one post. The google doc has the benefit that I did some color coding, so it should be less confusing about the two version.

Little help:

sounds or explanations what’s going on
/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words”
(...) = leave a little time (would be listener talking)

{stuff only interesting if this is the role you are speaking, if this is dialogue of the listener you don’t have to account for it when pausing for listeners response and also sound effects depending on which perspective you choose}

VS =Vampire Soldier (about 3000 words)
M = Mortal (the human soldier) (about 2500 words)

(A4A)Fangs and Bullets
[Vampire elite soldier x human soldier “bloodbag”]
[TW: Injuries, Violence,Death,Guns][strangers to friends] [brothers/sisters in arms][special forces]

Script starts here:

Door opening

M /politely/ “Uh…” little pause “Oh! Hello, I didn’t see you in the dark. You must be VS 1-6! The vampire soldier?”

VS /annoyed/ “Yes, yes. The real deal… Vampire soldier 1-6.” /sighs/ “What gave me away? The blacked out room, the empty bloodbag on the table? My red eyes?”

M /trying to keep the mood light/ “Mostly the dark room, I can’t really see your eyes nor the table when you’re sitting in the dark.”

VS /annoyed/ You mortals and your poor eyesight…” little pause, flicks light switch /hissing/ “Ah, my eyes…”/to even more annoyed/ “What do you want?”

M /hesitantly/ “I… {Uh-thank you for turning the lights on…} Command send me here…”

VS /a bit less annoyed/ “Command send you?” /to excited and a little malicious/ “Do I get proper food tonight?!”

M /a little sassy/ “You think they send me as your dinner? As far as my information goes, you only are supposed to drink from me if the situation goes FUBAR.”

VS /disappointed/ “No meal then…”/realizing, quickly to intrigued/ “ Wait, are you here because of the ‘partner-programme’?”

M /serious/ “Yes, I got selected {for ‘that’ programme}. ”

VS /surprised/ “They found someone willing to take orders from a vampire?”

M /matter of factly/ “I don’t see the difference whether the team leader is just a human or an undead. Both are gonna bark orders at me, so…”

VS /amused/ “Don’t think you can soften me up with being humorous, B-B.”

M /sceptical/ “B-B? That’s neither my name nor my initials…”

VS /non-chalant/ “It’s short for “bloodbag”. And it’s practical. ‘Lunchbox’ or ‘E-ration’ would be too long in stressful situations, don’t you agree?”

M /growls/ “I guess “B-B” it is… Bloodbag…” /snarky/ “Then how shall I refer to you? ‘Team Leader VS 1-6’ is also too long for quick communication. How about ‘Sucker’?”

VS /angry/ “Do not disrespect me! We may have the same rank, but I am still the team leader!” /a bit softer/ “I was just teasing. Officially you’ll be ‘M’ and I’ll be ‘V’.”

M /sceptical/ “So I’ll be M” and you’ll be “V” /to disappointed/ “‘Mortal’ and ‘Vampire’, how creative…”

VS /uninterested/ “It's pretty self-explanatory, ’Mortal’” /dismissive/ “Still gonna call you ‘bloodbag’ too, ‘cause that’s what you are.”

M /sarcastical/ “How nice.”

VS /curious/ “Different topic. Did you have a vampire feed on you before?”

M /hesitating/ “No… Actually… you are the first vamp I met…{I haven’t been bitten so far}”

VS /surprised, stunned/ “I am the first vampire you met? So you have no idea how it feels to get bitten?!”

M /more hesitatingly/ “... N-no… {I have no idea how that feels}”

VS /annoyed, concerned/ “You are aware that when shit hits the fan, you’re gonna be my emergency blood supply?!”

M/confident/ “I know. When things go south, I have to let you feed on my blood” small pause /less confident/ “Is it that bad? How much do you need?”

VS /serious/ “That depends on the situation. Only a few drops are enough to boost my abilities, but if I get hurt badly and need to heal fast, I can easily consume half a litre of fresh blood.”

M /taken aback/ “Half a litre… But some bloodbags won’t cut it?”

VS /serious/ “No, it’s gotta be fresh from the ‘source’ for those applications. From someone with a beating heart.”

M /wondering/ “So… if you want to enhance your already crazy abilities or have to heal, you have to drink it directly from someone?”

VS/frustrated/ “Exactly, preserved blood doesn’t work for that. Nobody knows why, but bloodbags are only good to still the hunger.”

M /mumbling/ “So preserved blood still gives you the nutrients… But the other advantages just aren’t there…”

VS /sarcastic/ “DING! DING! DING! A hundred points for the walking bloodbag!
little pause /deviously/ “I think we have to condition you, mortal. Getting you used to some blood loss.”

M /wondering/ “ ‘Condition’ me? Getting me used to blood loss?”

VS /derogatory/ “You’ll be enough of a hindrance to me as you are now, B-B.” /to mischievous/ “I can’t have you becoming a liability every time I take a little…”

M /hesitant/ “I hate that this makes somewhat sense… But you aren’t just trying to get your fangs on a little blood, are you?”

VS /sarcastically/ “Of course not…” /to amused/ “I’d be stupid to pass up an opportunity for a proper snack.” /back to mischievous again/ Whether you believe me or not, I’ll have to drink from you on a regular basis from now on, so you’ll learn to handle it.”

M /uncomfortable/ “You want to drink my blood regularly… {So I can get used to it…}”

VS /impatient/ “Yes, yes- shouldn’t be too hard to understand. Now give me your arm.”

M /hesitantly/ “You want my arm?”

VS /annoyed/ “Of course your arm! Do you think I’d go for your neck?! Way too informal. Very short pause /impatient, commanding/ “Now roll up your damn sleeve and give me your arm!”

Sounds of fabric (sleeve getting pulled up)

M /unsure/ “here”

VS /excited/ “Ah, wonderful… Let’s have a try…”

Sounds of VS biting down
M /through gritted teeth/ “Hnngh!”

VS sucking blood for a bit

M/quietly, a little pained/ “Woah… woah…”
VS stops drinking
VS /amused, devious/ “Is the blood loss kicking in?”

M /dazed/ “I… I feel dizzy…”

VS /mischievous/ “Maybe I took a little much…” /to commanding/ “You should go back to your barracks. Get yourself some water, a snack and plenty of rest.”

M /still dazed, a bit out of breath/ “Some water… a snack… rest… sounds good, will do…”

VS /still commanding/ “See you tomorrow at O-Sixhundred for training! Don’t oversleep, or I’ll drag you out of bed personally!”

M /still dazed/ “O-Sixhundred… training… got it…”

{Waiting for M to have stumbled away} door closing
VS /mumbling to themself/ {“Damn, your blood is tasty. I mean, fresh blood is always better than those damn plastic bags, but yours is something else!}

Some time passes  (maybe you just leave a bigger pause or you add some kind of noise like a ticking clock or a “swoosh” or whatever) to a random training day

Sounds of footsteps (VS & M running/ jogging) from here…

M /out of breath, ‘done’ with the world/ “ Not you again…”

VS /derogatory/ “You are pathetic, bloodbag.”/to gleefully/ “You’re still on your third lap, panting like a dog in the summer and I lapped you what, like 15 times?”

M /between breaths/ “With all… due respect… SHUT… UP!”

VS /mocking/ “No need to get all pissy about it.”/to derogatory/ “How the hell does command think you won’t slow me down? You’re like a snail compared to me!”

M /annoyed mumbling, between breaths/ “Just do your laps… and let me… do mine in peace…”

VS /gleeful/ “Where is the fun in that?... but as you wish, bloodbag.”

… to here. M still running/jogging, VS footsteps quicker and fading out (for vampire speaker x human listener. If you go for the other way around, the slower footsteps should fade out.)
A little time passes
Footsteps quickly slowing down until stop (for vampire speaker) / Footsteps fading in, quickly slowing down to stop (for human speaker) -> (VS is waiting at finish line)

M /completely out of breath/ “done… finally…”

VS /mockingly/ “Oh, you can say ‘finally’, for sure!” /to derogatory/ “In the 15 minutes it took you to finish 4 laps, I ran the course over 20 times! /to boasting/ “Could have been over 25 times if I didn’t slow down to talk to you…”

M /catching breath/ “You done?... I am not blind… I did see that you overtook me about 5 times every lap I finished…”

VS /gleefully/ “You are just so much slower than me!”

M /annoyed, still panting/ “Geez, who would have expected that?” {/to sarcastic/ “You being much faster than me, what surprising results…”}

Fabric rustling as both quickly stand at attention

VS /military tone/ “Good day General!”
M /exhausted/ “General…”

Pause for general saying something

VS /surprised, shocked/ “What?!”
M /surprised/ “What”?

VS /overwhelmed/ “Ma’am, you can’t be serious!... You want me to… I have to… CARRY THEM?!”
M /mumbling/ “I think I can walk perfectly fine by myself… even if it’s slow-”
General interrupts (not a noise, just an explanation what’s going on here)

VS /loudly/ “YES, MA’AM!”
M /loudly/ “YES, MA’AM!”

rustling fabric from here…
VS /angry muttering/ “You lucky bastard! Don’t you dare say a single word about this to the others! I can’t believe I have to run laps carrying you around. The humiliation!”

M/annoyed whispering/ “Stay still while I climb on your back!... Do you think I am happy about this? This is embarrassing for me too…”
…to here.

Very quick footsteps fading out, time passes again (couple days later, after some training)

knocking on door

VS /from behind door, absent mindedly/ “Hey Bloodbag, the range officer asked me to drop these by you.”

M /{behind door}, also absent mindedly/ “Come in, V…”

some quiet tool noises, quiet metal clanking (M is taking his rifle apart) from here…

VS /desinterested/ “Just wanted to bring these… /to surprised/ “Are you sleeping in the workshop? {What are all these tools and machines?}”

M /quiet mumble/ “These machines and tools are mine… I need them…”

VS /intrigued/ “You need all those? This is like a proper machine shop! What do you need them for?”

M /proudly/ “To improve my baby and keep her runnin’”

VS /confused/ “For your ‘baby’?” /to realizing/ “Your rifle?!” /to wondering/ “Are you tinkering with property of the government?”

M /still proud/ “She’s not issued to me. I built her myself.”

VS /baffled/ “You built your own rifle?!”

M /back to not really paying attention/ “And I make my ammo too. {Wasn’t easy to come up with something that delivers a good punch without getting too unwieldy, but I think I managed to create something that’ll help me with all different kinds of threats.}”

VS /a little bit in disbelief/ “ Your own ammo too…I mean, looking at it now that’s clearly not standard issue… ” /to quiet mumbling/ “That’s some dedication…”

M /neutral/ “What was that?”

VS /snappy/ “Nothing!” /trying to distract/ “About your stuff…”
… until here, M putting rifle/tools down

M /thinking/ “Did I forget something at the range?”

VS /reserved/ “Your paper targets. The range officer said you’d normally take them with you…”
sounds of some paper getting pulled out a pocket (or something like that)

M /little frustrated/ “{Normally i take the paper targets with me, yes…} I didn’t this time, it wasn’t my best day and I know I can’t blame my gun for it…”

VS /intrigued, teasingly/ “Bad day at the range?... Oh, let me have a look at your pathetic-"
Paper unfurling, VS sifting through a couple
VS /not so bold, getting quieter/ “Attempts… the size of these holes, speaking about non-standard…” /with a little confusion/ “Those groupings are actually not bad…”

M /still frustrated/ “But I know I can do better…”

VS /contemplating/ “What distance were you shooting? 200, 300 yards?”

M /quietly/ “500 yards”

VS /shocked/ “500?!” /quickly trying to sound calmer/ “500 you say? That’s some decent shooting…”

M /surprised/ “Are you impressed? By a mere mortal?”

VS/ trying to hide being impressed/ “No, I am just saying, uh… your shooting skills seem satisfactory to me…”

M /amused/ “I think that’s the closest to a compliment I’ll ever get from you, so I’ll take it.”

VS /mumbling/ “Don’t get cocky, bloodbag! You’re still nothing but an emergency ration to me!”

M /sighs/ “I know, you calling me ‘bloodbag’ reminds me everytime… /to curious/ “What were you doing at the range? I thought you’d rely on your vampiristic abilities in combat… {you know, your inhuman strength, speed, your fangs and all the other tricks I am not aware of right now…}”

VS /kinda neutral/ “I still got trained as a regular soldier… it’s just more convenient for me to use my vampiric powers. {My fangs, my strength, my speed, hypnosis from time to time…}”

M /surprised/ “Hypnosis? {Like making others do whatever you want?}”

VS /proud/ “You heard right. {I can make people do whatever I say}.”

M /uncomfortable/ “Keep that shit away from me…” /back to curious/ “But I still don’t know why you were at the range. I never saw you handling a gun.”

VS /muttering/ “I was just trying to find someone willing to give a little blood… ” /sighs, frustrated whisper/ “But no luck…”

M /confused/ “{Looking for a snack?} Isn’t command supplying you with enough?”

VS /frustrated/ “They are… but only in bags… I drink it, but the taste is awful…” little pause /quieter/ “{And it stays in the mouth… EUGH!}”

M /hesitant/ “ I see… come here”
Sound of M pulling up their sleeve

VS /confused/ “What are you doing?”

M /neutral/ “What does it look like? {I am offering you something tasty.}”

VS /surprised/ “You offer me a drink?” /to sceptical/ “Why? {I am not exactly nice to you most of the time…”}

M /unsure/ “ I don't know… {You are an ass to me most of the time…} /to frustrated/ “Just take the bite before I change my mind! But only if you take just a little… And no snarky comments during the march tomorrow!”

VS /glad/ “Don’t worry, I only want to get the taste off my tongue. And no comments about your pace during tomorrow's march, I promise.”

M /a little unsure/ “Alright… then go for it.”

VS biting M
M /pained/ “Hnng!”
VS sucking blood, for a very very short time

VS /relieved/ “Ah, that’s so much better…”

M /hesitant/ “Can I ask you a question? I am wondering about something…”

VS /grumbling/ “It wouldn’t be polite to say no after you offered me blood. So ask away.”

M /intrigued/ “How come you walk around during daylight? Shouldn’t you stick to the night?”

VS /a bit confused/ “What do you mean by that? Are you worried I don’t get enough rest? Well, that’s another thing we undead are superior to humans, I don’t need sleep. At all.”

M /impressed/ “You don’t need to sleep?! God, I envy you…” /to curious/ “But I meant like, isn’t the sun a problem?”

VS /neutral/ “Did you notice that I always wear my full kit when I am outside?”

M /careful tone/ “Yep, I did see that you always put on your full gear…”

VS /neutral/ “Did you see any of my skin when I am wearing my tactical suit?”

M /piecing it together/ “None of your skin is showing… so as long as sunlight doesn’t touch your skin directly you’re good… But you can’t go into the sun without protection, or is this just a trope from the movies ?”

VS /non-chalantly/ “It’s not like I burst into a pile of ash instantly, but if sunlight does touch my skin, it hurts like hell.”

M /understanding/ “So very not pleasant, got it. Thanks for clearing that up.”

VS /genuine/ “Thank you for the meal, M.”
door closing

again some time passes (to mission)

air rushing past, quick footsteps (V is carrying M) from here…
VS /angry muttering/ “Couldn’t Command have us drop closer?”

M /calm/ “Guess they wanted to make sure we avoid being detected…”

VS /angry muttering/ “Our first deployment, and I already have to carry you around! I hate it! I am an elite soldier, not a mule! Why didn’t they just drop a motorbike for you to get around? You seem way too comfortable back there now.”

M /still calm/ “I know you hate carrying me. But a motorbike would be way too loud, that would defeat the entire purpose of not being detected-”

VS /frustrated/ “Argh! Detection, detection, I can’t hear it, bloodbag! Shut up about it, you should better tell me where we are heading again!”

M /a bit louder/ “North East, Zero-Four-Zero!”

VS /still frustrated/ “And?! Don’t tell me the bearing is all you got!”

M /getting annoyed too/ “Command only knows the rough location of our target. It’s a secret hideout, we gotta locate it ourselves.”

VS /angry again/ “We have to locate the secret hideout ourselves?! These bastards at command going the easy route!”

M /frustrated too, confused/ “Didn’t you listen during the briefing? Why are you so surprised by that?”

VS /scoffs/ “It’s too boring to listen to the general speak, I only looked at the pictures of the person command wants gone.”

M /also scoffs/ “Only looked at the pictures… what an awesome elite soldier you are…”

VS /hisses/ “Another comment like that and you can walk yourself! Look at it that way, you’re at least useful for something now.”

M /calm again/ “Let’s get up that hill over there. That should give us a good overview of the surrounding area.”

VS /unwillingly agreeing/ “That hill should be a good vantage point, maybe we can spot something…”

… a bit more rushing air and steps, then fabric rustling.

VS /disapproving/ “You look ridiculous with those night vision googles. The hoops you have to jump through to get a fraction of my qualities…”

M /annoyed/ “Instead of complaining about my looks with the gear, why don’t you put your ‘superior’ vampire powers to use? Can you and your perfect night vision spot something unusual down there?”

Little pause (V&M surveilling the area for a bit)

VS /non-chalantly/ “Something unusual like a convoy of armed pickup-trucks without any lights on them?”

M /focused/ “Yep. {A convoy of armed pickup-trucks without any lights is something we should pay attention to.} Where?”

VS /bored/ “To your right. Down that little dirt path, heading towards that little tunnel.”

M/ focused/ “I see them now…”

VS /paying attention now/ “Did you see them come out from the other side? I think that’s something worth noting.”

M /thinking/ “I saw them drive into it, but where are they now? I didn’t see them come out either side again!”

VS /excited for the hunt/ “Me neither… {let’s investigate…}”

M /focused/ {“Let’s have a look then.”}

Rushing air and quick steps fading out, then fading in again and stopping

VS /focused, a bit excited, whisper/ “You see that? Some guy guarding a gate in the sidewall of the tunnel…”

M /focused/ “A gate in the sidewall of the tunnel with a guy pacing back and forth in front of it… He’s holding a Kalaschnikov…” /to sarcastic/ “I wonder why he’s guarding that gate…”

VS /commanding/ “Wait here, bloodbag. I’ll do a quick sweep… and if there’s no surveillance around…” /to very excited/ “I will take care of that guy directly.”

V rushing off, little pause

If V-speaker very distant noise of flesh tearing, if M-speaker ‘normal’ sound of flesh tearing
{M /shockled/ “Holy…”}

Quick (human) steps, M catching up with V

{M /shocked, uncomfortable whisper/ “I didn’t know you could open your mouth like that… You ripped out half his throat…”}

VS /non-chalantly, but quiet/ “Well, he couldn’t scream for help {with his vocal cords missing}...”

M /lets out some air, no words/

VS /annoyed whisper/ “Don’t tell me you are not used to some carnage… I thought you were a soldier of the special forces beforehand! {Someone missing half their throat shouldn’t shake you up.}”

M /frustrated whisper/ “I am not unfamiliar with blood! Seeing you bite that chunk out of him was… a sight. Certainly a sight.”

VS /focused again/ “Stay focused, bloodbag. There are more behind the gate.”

M /also focused again/ “Do you have any idea how many more {there are behind the gate}?

VS /whispering/ “At least two. Stick close, are you ready?”

M /determined, quietly/ “Ready when you are.”

Sound of gate shattering, couple very quick steps and bones breaking

VS /with disdain/ “Serves them right…”

M /impressed, quietly/ “Woah ho ho, you smashed through that gate and caved in their skulls with your bare hands! Squeezed them like they were just ripe tomatoes!“

VS /proudly, whispering/ “Already impressed? Squeezing the brain out of a skull like juice from a lemon is nothing special to me.”

M /amazed and disturbed whisper/ “That’s crazy… and also terrifying…”

VS /commanding, quietly/ “Shhh, quiet!”

M /barely audible/ “You hear something? More enemy combatants?”

VS /focused/ “There are certainly more people deeper inside… Follow me.”

some quiet footsteps (V & M sneaking deeper into the underground facility)

M /whisper/ “Why are we stopping?”

VS /focused, whisper/ “Room at the end of the corridor, 9 people inside… two on either side of the door, five gathered in the middle, seemingly around something”

M/whisper/ “Alright, room coming up, two people either side of the door, five gathered around something…/to amazed/… How can you make all that out from here?”

VS /whispering, commanding/ “Not the time to evaluate my heightened senses, bloodbag.”

M /whisper, apologetic/ “Right, right… How do we wanna proceed, V?”

VS / determined, whisper/ “You take the two left of the door, I handle the rest. Make as little noise as possible and be quick!”

M /whisper/ {Ready? Let’s go!}
VS /whisper/ {Ready? Let’s go!}

flesh ripping, maybe gurgling screams(optional), a knife being drawn and stabbing someone, a neck being broken, bodies slumping to the floor

M /breathing heavy, quietly/ “Clear… Got ‘em…”
VS /absent mindedly, whisper/ “All clear…”

M /again impressed, barely keeping voice low/ “You’re a damn killing machine, V!”

VS /unimpressed, whisper/ “Ignore the slaughter… if we keep working together, you’ll see much more of that…”
some steps, fabric noises (VS crouching down)

M /concerned, quietly/ “Something wrong?”

VS /dead serious, whisper/ “There are ten bodies here… Looks like our target is already dead…”

M /surprised, but still quiet/ “Ten bodies? Our target is already dead?!”

VS /concerned, just a little bit louder/ “I know I didn’t pay attention during the briefing, but did you know that guy was a vamp too?”

M /baffled/ “Command didn’t mention anything about that. A vampire like you?”

VS /worried/ “Those wounds… those are neither bullet holes nor blade cuts…”

M /concerned/ “You’re saying that guy didn’t die from conventional weapons? What killed him then?”

VS /worried/ “No idea… I don’t like this..”

M/worried too/ “If you have no idea, then I don’t like this either.”

VS /urgent/ “Let’s get outa here. Mission completed, as far as I am concerned.”

M /mutters/ “If you say so, V. Let’s get out of here.”

footsteps fading out, again time passes  (to another training day)

VS /grumpy/ “Cardio training again… what’s the point? Stupidly running laps around the course…”

M /neutral/ “Ready for some running, V?” /to sarcastically/ “Can’t wait for you bitching about the training again.”

VS /annoyed/ “Of course I’ll complain! It takes so long, all because you are so slow!”

M /snarky/ “Well, it’s not my fault for not being a vampire. I think my times on the stopwatch are quite alright for an ‘inferior mortal’!”

VS /frustrated/ “I always have to wait for you to finish your little run… Because command insists that I carry you around for a couple of laps! This goddamn humiliation…”

M /gleeful/ “I think it’s a nice little teambuilding exercise. Makes each other realize the differences in our abilities. I don’t have a problem riding on your back.”

VS /angry/ “Of course you don’t have a problem with that! Sitting on my back while I am the one running! I hate that!”

M /amused/ “Guess it can’t be helped {when the piggyback ride is directly ordered from above}”

VS /thinking/ “You know what…” /to mischievous/ “Let’s get that part out of the way first this time.” /to commanding/ “Hold still!”

sounds of VS sweeping M up

M /surprised/ “What are you doing?!”

VS /gleeful/ “You are getting way too comfortable on my back there… If I have to go through this humiliation, I’ll make it awkward for you too, bloodbag.”

M /still surprised/ “That’s why you’re holding me like that? Put me down, goddamnit!”

VS /mischievous/ “Oh no. If I am the one who has to haul your ass around, I’ll decide how to handle that. Princess-carry it is, you fragile mortal. It is time to share some of the embarrassment with you!”

M /frustrated/ “Does it really have to be a princess-carry?” /to defeated/ “Great, now I hate this part of the exercise too!”

VS /satisfied/ “{Now you aren’t happy with that part of the exercise too?} Goal archived.”
very quick steps fading out,

time passes (to another mission)

noises of V & M getting shot at, flesh tearing and M returning fire (throw in some shots in between the voicelines if you want)

M /frustrated/ “{So many of them!} They just keep coming!”

VS /barking while tearing through some enemy soldiers/ “Target rich environment! Keep shooting, {I’ll watch your back if you keep ‘em off mine}!”

M /frantic/ “Watch that direction, I’ll keep them off your back!”

even more gunfire

M /frustrated, focused/ “{Looks like they aren’t giving us any room to breathe!}”
VS /frustrated, focused/ “{Looks like they aren’t giving us any room to breathe!!}”

M /angry, yelling out/ “{How many soldiers do these fuckers want to throw at us?!}”
VS /angry, yelling out/ “{How many soldiers do these fuckers want to throw at us?!}”

M /quietly, knowing-you-fucked-up-tone/ “Shit!”
VS /screaming/ “M! WATCH OUT!”
Really close noises of flesh tearing and bones breaking

M /breathing heavily, shaken/ “I thought I was done for… thank you V!”

VS /commanding, loudly/ “No time to relax! Keep your head on a swivel, there are still more incoming!”

more noises of gunfire being exchanged and V tearing soldiers apart for a bit, then gunfire stops (soldiers suddenly retreating)

VS /heavily breathing/ “Looks like they finally threw in the towel…”

M/ also heavily breathing/ “It seems like it, but why are they suddenly retreating? They outnumbered us severely…”

VS /serious tone/ “Those fuckers nearly had us, holy shit!”

M /pondering, still catching breath/ “Maybe they finally grew scared of you… you ripped them apart by the dozens…”

VS /commanding/ “Stay alert. Just because they’re gone, doesn’t mean we are out of the woods yet… How much ammo you got left?”

M /gathering themselves/ “Mission’s not done, I know… 3 mags for the pistol, for the rifle it’s just one full and the one loaded left…”

VS /contemplating/ “That’s not looking too good…”

M /unsure/ “Should we abort the mission? That skirmish was not expected…”

VS /not happy about circumstances/ “Wait here, bloodbag. Watch the entrance, radio me if there’s movement. Stay hidden, don’t engage! I’ll see if I can find the device Commands wants us to retrieve.”

M /uncomfortable/ “You want me to watch the doors, while you go deeper alone?... Whatever you say, V.” /more quieter/ “I don’t like that idea though…”

VS walking off, a pause

V-speaker version: sounds of M walking, suddenly distant roar of a monster and stuff breaking, M running, sounds of V struggling to fight something getting louder, two gunshots in very quick succession, heavy body slamming on the ground

M-speaker version: loud roar of a monster and stuff breaking, noises of V fighting said monster for quite a bit
M /yells out/ “V!”
suddenly 2 quick gunshots, heavy body slamming on the ground

M /shocked/ “V, are you okay?!”

VS /also shocked, surprised/ “M?! What are you doing here?”

M /fighting themself whether to say it or not/ “I… I was worried… you were taking so long…So I came looking for you…”

VS /shocked, but kinda glad/ “{You were worried about me? So you came looking?} I should be angry with you for disobeying my orders, but you saved my ass right now!”

M /unsettled/ “What in the blue hell is this thing? Where did it come from?!”

VS /also shaken/ “I have not the slightest clue… some kind of mutated absurdity? I didn’t even register it until it burst through that door- are my senses getting dull?”

M /frightened/ “Even you didn’t know it was there?!... It doesn’t look like anything I’ve ever seen…”

VS / unsettled/ “It doesn’t resemble anything living that I know… not even close…” /to also frightened/ “I could barely match it’s strength… and it’s skin was too resilient for my fangs and my claws…”

M /stunned/ “What? That thing was as strong as you?! {And your fangs and claws were useless?!}”

VS /slowly getting their bearings back/ “I am glad you didn’t come any later… I think I can guess what happened to that one dead vamp we found on our first mission together…” /to impressed/ “You hit it in both of its eyes… Was that on purpose?”

M /calmed down a bit/ “{You think this thing killed that vamp we found during our first mission? But yeah,} I did aim for it’s eyes, this thing is so massive… I wasn’t sure my bullets would go through the skull… Figured it would be easier fighting it if it can’t see us…”

VS /impressed/ “Quick thinking, M. And seriously good marksmanship. I owe you one…”

M /nervous laugh/ “Don’t worry, just look at it as a thank-you for earlier.”

VS /a bit more relaxed/ “Alright, I’ll take it we’re even then.” /to unsure/ “Did command say anything about the size of the device? I found something that looks like the thing on the pictures… but it’s the size of  fridge…”
{/quick to (not serious) threatening/ “Don’t you dare lecture me about listening to the briefings again!”}

M/thinking/ “The size of a fridge? You probably found the device then.”
{/snarky/ “You’ll never listen to the briefing, will you?”}

VS /frustrated/ “Oh great. How am I supposed to carry you and this thing?”

M /trying to keep the mood calm/ “You don’t have to worry about hauling that thing and me around. I’ll use my own legs this time. Command approved to call in an extraction team to this location.”

VS /more frustrated/ “Oh, if they want to get their hands on some fuck-knows-what prototype, they suddenly don’t care about detection anymore…”

M /joking/ “Don’t worry, I believe you can carry me around in the next mission again!”

VS /angry/ “Carry you the next mission?! OH SHUT UP!”

again, time passes (To a bit after the mission)

knocking on door {depending on perspective either VS or M muffled -> VS in his room, M on the corridor}
M /very drunk, loudly/ “Open up, V!... I know you’re there…”

VS /annoyed/ “What the hell is going on?”
door opening

M /very drunk, happy/ “Heeeeyyyyyy…”

VS /shocked, a little concerned/ “Holy crap of a lukewarm bloodbag, you are wasted…”

M /still very drunk/ “I thought-”

VS /a bit overwhelmed/ “Geez, come in and sit down! Before you faceplant into the wall or something!”

M /happy, very drunk/ “I thought you should celebrate too…”

VS /concerned, confused/ “Celebrate what?”

M /happy, very drunk/ “The mission!... the mission… turning out good… And command praising us…”

VS /a bit frustrated/ “I know it was a close call today and Command was very happy with our results, but that is not a reason to-”

M /proud of themselves, very drunk/ “I got you a preeeeeseeeent…”

VS /completely confused/ “A present? For me?”

clanking of glass, as M pulls out two bottles

M /enthusiastic, very drunk/ “YEEeeeeEES! One for each of us!”

VS /disappointed/ “A beer? You know human food doesn’t do anything for me, right?”

M /apologetic, very drunk/ “Whoops! Gave you the wrong one…”

VS /back to completely confused/ “{That was the wrong bottle?} What is in this one now?”

M /very drunk, proud again/ “My blood! {If booze directly won’t work, maybe you’ll feel something when you drink blood from someone boozed up...}”

VS /lost/ “What?! You thought blood from someone wasted could make me drunk?” /stutters/ “How-?” W-Why would you… I actually didn’t try that-”

M /drunkenly laughs/ “See? He he he… Maybe it works!”

VS /confused/ “But how did you…?”

M /concentrating really hard while very drunk/ “Firstly… I got drunk. That was the easy part… Then I went to… to… medical, to find… find a medic… that would drain… some juice of me… and put it into the bottle there…  That was the not easy part…”

M /very proud and very drunk/ “BUT!... But I convinced- uh… the- the one- the one with half an eyebrow… And now I am here!”

VS /in disbelief/ “You got yourself wasted and asked a medic to drain some blood from you? Into an empty beer bottle?!”

M /struggling because drunk/ “... … YES… … /quietly/ “I just wanted to have a drink with you… you know, we’re battle buddies now…You saved my ass, I saved your’s…”

VS /stunned/ “Battle Buddies?! Okay, okay.. Uhm… let’s toast to the mission then…”

VS /awkward/ ; M /very drunk/ “To a mission well done!” (both)

clanking of bottles, some gulps, bottles put down on table

M /very drunk, barely keeping it together/ “Aaaaaand?”

VS /surprised/ “It… it tastes crazy good… not just your blood” /to overwhelmed/ “I-I think I can taste the booze in there…”

M /very drunk and happy/ “So you still can taste it… if the blood is… fresh… from someone drunk… Hi hi hi…”

VS /in disbelief/ “That’s incredible… thank you!”
VS taking some more gulps

M/very, very drunk/ “NOOoooOO ProoOObleEEm…”
M slumping down on table {taking some more gulps}
M /cheery, half asleep, drunk/ “BaaaAAAaattlEEe BuddiIIIiiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIies!”
{M taking some more gulps, empty bottle slamming on table, then M starting to snore}

{VS /soft/ “They fell asleep… no wonder, completely drunk and missing blood…”
some steps, fabric rustling

VS /soft/ “That should be more comfortable for you…” some more gulps

VS /quiet, amazed/ “Holy shit, is this really kicking in? I haven’t felt like this in decades!”
little pause
VS /overwhelmed, contemplating/ “Battle buddies… normally people see me as a monster…” }

again time passes (the evening before another mission)

M /singing (melody of ‘personal jesus’ depeche mode/ “... your own, personal, bloodbag… M laughing out loud
VS /singing (melody of ‘personal jesus’ depeche mode/ “...my own, personal, bloodbag… VS laughing out loud

VS /good mood fading, going to frustrated/ “I hate that I am only allowed to drink from these plastic bags for weeks before our missions. They makes the ‘soup’ taste so artificial…  And joking around like that really makes me wanna crack open the warm one…”

M /amused/ “He he, crack open the warm one?!” /to joking/ “Haven’t heard that one before, but don’t you mean the hot one?”

VS /jokingly/ “The HOT one?! Are you getting delusional?”

M /laughing/  “The ‘awesome one’ it is then!…” /a bit more serious/ “But come on, pull yourself together. {The mission is set for tomorrow, so you only have to hold out for one, maybe two days.}”

VS /annoyed/ “I know the mission starts tomorrow and will last two days at most…” /scoffs/ “You have no idea how terrible blood tastes from those shitty bags!”

M/smug/ “Can’t be much worse than the rations I gotta deal with when we are in the field.”

VS /still kinda hoping/ “So… Absolutely no dice?”

M /serious/ “No, V! I won’t go out already low! Command won’t allow you to bite me a couple days before the mission… And  I think the reasons are good enough!”

VS /pouting/ “God damnit! You’re not such a stickler for rules on other topics…”

M /a bit annoyed/ “You know it’s to secure my FULL combat readyness. I am not an undead fighting machine like you are, I need to be at a hundred percent. Knock it off!”

VS throws an empty bloodbag against a wall, so , maybe a wet ‘thunk’

VS /really frustrated/ “FUCK! I’ll swear this crap tastes shittier with every badge I get!” /to a frustrated whisper/ “I can’t… this fucking shit…”
Little pause
VS /suddenly very calm/ “M, can I get your attention for a sec?”

M /unsuspecting/ “What is it?” /to dazed/ “Woah…”

VS /voice slow & echo-y, commanding/ “You will obey me! ”

M /in trance/ “I will obey you…”

VS /voice slow & echo-y, commanding/ “Pull up your sleeve!”

M /in trance/  “My sleeve…I- I’ll pull it up…”
Fabric rustling

VS /voice slow & echo-y/ “Good, good… now give me your arm!”

M /in trance/ “Here, my arm…”

VS biting down
M /still in trance, but pained/ “Hngh…”

intensive blood sucking by VS for a bit

VS /still distorted, satisfied/ “Ahhhh… that. Was. Amazing… Tastes better every time…”

M /in trance/ “Do you have any other orders for me?”
Short pause VS processing what just happened

VS /realizing, horrified/ “Shit… Shit!... What have I done?!”

M /dazed, still under hypnosis/ “Do you wish me to answer that question? Answer to ‘What you have done’?”

VS /panicking/ “Wha- No!” / disappointed, quiet panicking/ “That wasn’t an order…” /back to normal panicking/ “Shit! Shit, shit, shit shit… SHIT!”

M /in trance/ “What is the reason for your distress? Did I do something wrong?”

VS /still panicking/ “NO! No… You did nothing wrong… I made a mistake… “ /to a desperate whisper/ “Hypnotizing you, to get your blood right before a mission… I crossed a line here… What do I do now?” /to regretful whisper/ “How will you react when you find out… ”

M /in trance, robotic/ “Do you have more orders for me?”

VS /still in panic mode, a bit calmer/ “Give me a little time to think…”

M/ in trance/ “As you wish, I will wait…”

VS /anxious, thinking/  “ Command won’t cancel the mission, there’s too much hanging on it… they won’t let me go alone… but you won’t be happy going if you know… that I couldn’t restrain myself!” /to desperate/ “Arghh! I fucked up!”
Small pause (VS thinking)

M /in trance, robotic/ “Do you have more orders for me?”

VS /regretful, slowly/ “Uh… Yes… get yourself something to eat, a big glass of water and then go to sleep…” /commanding, voice slow & echo-y again/ “And forget what just happened!”

M /in trance/ “Eat… drink… sleep… and forget… As you wish….”

I didn't had space for the ending here, I ran out of letters. Check the google doc at the beginning of the post for the full script.

Hope you had fun reading, have a good one!

You’ve gone far, little cruiser (A4A/F)
[God/ess of ships speaker][SMS Emden’s soul listener][historical fiction][talkin about your journey]

Okay for monetization (just credit me as the writer) and let me know where I can find it once you filled it, please.

Attention: there are two versions of this script again. The one posted here is the “historical” version that should be a fairly accurate retelling of the story of the SMS Emden.
The other version is set in the world of a lovely community writing project I am glad to be a part of, differing quite a bit from Emden’s story. It can be found in the second tab of the google doc.

Idea for description: Your shot up hull has been sitting on that reef for some years now. You hoped someone would refloat you again, but that hope was in vain. The constant wave action took you apart more and more, while your soul held onto your slowly disappearing remnants. Now you decided to finally let go, suddenly your soul finds itself in a strange place. Strange, but somehow you feel safe here… then you hear a voice.

Little help:

sounds
/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words”
(...) = leave a little time (would be listener talking)
{} = whatever you wanna go for

(whenever I wrote “/neutral/” I meant like someone (re)telling a story, however you would do that)

script starts here:
I was imagining just some ocean ambience throughout the audio (like some light waves, or a light breeze, do whatever you want)

/welcoming/ “Ahoy! There you are, finally I get to meet you. I was wondering how long your soul would cling to your wrecked hull…”
/whistful/ “After some years it’s barely recognizable as a ship anymore… let alone as your old self, Emden.”
(…)
/proud, but not stuck up/ “Why do I know your name? Well, I am the {god/godess} of ships. I should know the name of my children.”
(…)
/soft/ “Yes. The {god/godess} of ships. I was waiting for you to arrive here.”
/chuckles/ “You made quite the ruckus, little cruiser.”
(…)
/chuckles again/ “Nothing special?! Ha ha, no need to be humble about it.”
(…)
/surprised/ “You’re serious, huh?” /to determined/ “Let’s have a look then.”

short, louder swoosh of wind(?){<- my mental image is the speaker waving their hand, opening a portal/window to look into the past, whatever noise that may be. If you can think of something better, put that sound here and everywhere I wrote <short, louder swoosh of wind>}

/neutral/ “Kaiserliche Werft in Danzig, 1906. That’s when they laid your keel down.”
/still neutral/ “It took about two years… Then your hull touched the water for the first time when you left the slipway.”
/little chuckle/ “Yeah, your sister Dresden was already out and about, causing trouble during her sea trials…”
(…)
/soft/ “You're right. Despite you two being sisters, there were some differences between the two of you.”
/lost in thoughts/ “She could go faster… Because she was equipped with steam turbines, while you had to get around on the good old triple-expansion engines.”
/wondering/ “Did you know you were the last german light cruiser driven by those?”
(…)
/curious/ “You were jealous of your sister?”
(…)
/amused/ “Ha ha, don’t worry. I won’t tell her.”
/neutral/ “But back to your story.”

again the short, louder howl of wind

/neutral/ “Outfitting done on the 10th of July 1909… And you left port the same day to start your sea trials.” /chuckles again/ ”Quite the eager little ship you were.”

/neutral/ “You were ordered to take part in the annual autumn manoeuvres of the High Seas fleet, even before you were done with your test runs.”

/neutral/ “But you finished your sea trial after that and got a little rest.”

/dreamy/ “Who would have thought what was to come back then.”

/chuckles/ “It wasn’t a joke when they reactivated you on April the 1st 1910. You were assigned to the {“Ostasiengeschwader”/ “East Asia Squadron”}.” /to a bit more serious/ “The Kaiser wanted you to do a little goodwill tour of South America before you steamed to Asia.”

/neutral/ “You met up with your older cousin “Bremen” and represented the Kaiserreich Germany at the celebrations of 100 years of argentinian independence.”

/neutral/ “You rounded Cape Horn together with the “Bremen” after the celebrations, but your ways parted when you had to coal up for your crossing of the Pacific."
/excited/ “You remember the heavy storm you encountered?”
(…)
/matter of factly/“You just steamed through it and after several stops, you met the rest of the {“Ostasiengeschwader”/“East Asia Squadron”} in Apia…”
/thinking/“It was the…”
(…)
/happy to be reminded/ “ah yes, the 22nd of July.”
/neutral/ “You were allowed some rest there, in October you headed for your new home base at Qingdao.”
/neutral/ “From there you went to visit some chinese and japanese ports, that kept you occupied until December.”

again the louder, short swoosh of wind

/a bit more serious now/ “Early 1911, your first time getting into real action. You were called to help suppress the “Sokeh Rebellion” in Ponape, together with the “Nürnberg” and “Cormoran” you bombarded rebel positions. You even sent a landing force…”
/back to neutral/ “You returned to Qingdao after that revolt was shattered. And in mid 1911, you were sent on another tour to Japan.”
/a little amused/ “But that was cut short when you collided with another steamer during a storm, right back to the drydock at Qingdao you went.”

another louder, short swoosh of wind

/matter of factly/“11th of October, the Chinese revolution. You steamed to the Yangtze again, to protect some european people there.”
/a bit softer/ “And by the end of the year, you helped out a grounded, german steamer. It was greatly appreciated.”

again, short, louder swoosh of wind

/rattling off facts/ “Not much happened in 1912, in 1913 you went on another cruise. And you were sent to Nanjing, another revolution to suppress. More cruises followed in chinese and japanese waters for the rest of the year and into 1914.”
short pause
/proud/ “Already quite the record, isn’t it?”
(…)
/assuring/ “Yes, I mean it.”
/anticipating/ “And so much more to come… When the world was set ablaze in 1914.”

and again short, louder swoosh of wind

/a bit more serious/ “3rd of August, 1914. The Kaiserreich declared war on Russia the day before… And you already captured your first enemy vessel.”
(…)
/soft, kinda happy/ “Exactly. The russian steamer “Ryazan”. Guess you don’t forget your first score, do you?”
/anticipating/ “But that was only the start. A couple of days later, your captain asked for permission to detach from the {“Ostasiengeschwader”/“East Asia Squadron”}, to disturb british shipping and pull their attention from the Squad away.”

/reassuring/ “You did your best with that. Nobody expected the journey you’d go on.”

/neutral/“Your crew rigged up a dummy funnel, to disguise you as a british cruiser.”
(…)
/chuckles/ “You hated it? Looking like an enemy warship?”
(…)
/still amused/ “Understandable, but it worked.”

/neutral/ “You steamed around a bit, until September.” /to excited/ “Then you scored a series of hits!”
/neutral/ “9th of September. Captured the greek collier “Pontoporos” and turned her into your supply ship.”
/neutral/“10th of September, found the troop carrying-”
(…)
/more serious tone/ “Yes, the “Indus”. The first ship you sunk. You met the “Lovat” a day later, sunk her too.”

/neutral, serious/ “Also on the 12th, you found the “Kabinga”, which you captured and released later. And the-”
(…)
/neural, a bit serious/ “The “Killin”, you captured her and sent her to the bottom after.”
/a little bit excited, but also a bit sad/ “And more! Three ships over the next three days, stopped and sunk by you!”
(…)
/a little quieter/ “ “Diplomat”, “Trabboch” and the “Clan Matheson”... So you remember their names too.”
(…)
/relieved/ “I am glad you are still thinking about them.”

And again, a short, louder swoosh of wind

/anticipating/ “No more ships for some days, but your captain planned a daring coup. Madras was set to be your next target.”
/proud/ “You arrived at the port at 8pm on the 22nd September. You entered without a hitch,  closed to the piers within 3000 yards. Then your guns threw 130 shells at the harbor, which damaged three oil tanks and set fire to another two. And you damaged a merchant ship moored there-”
(…)
/a little quieter again/ “The “Governeur”...”
(…)
/sad undertone/ “yes, yes… She later sank in the harbor…”

/back to neutral/ “After your attack, you sailed away unbothered, leaving the British stunned.”
/little bit excited/ “And you weren’t done for September. On the 25th, you encountered the merchant vessel “King Lud” and sank her.
The next day you sank the Tymeric, stopped and released the “Gryfevale” AND captured the collier “Buresk”. Filled with a load of high quality coal, what a stroke of luck for you.”
/again a bit quieter/ “Then, on the 27th, you sank two more merchants…”
(…)
/lost in thoughts/ “Hmmm hmmm, “Ribera” and “Foyle”...”

/and back to neutral/ “Little coaling stop at the Maldives on the 29th…”

another short, louder swoosh of wind

/excited/ “And then your captain set course to Diego Garcia. Where a british garrison hasn’t heard about the war yet, so they gave you a warm welcome.”

/in disbelief/ “The guts of your captain and crew, visiting the enemy in the middle of a war…”

/neutral/ “You stayed there till the 10th of  October, your crew used that opportunity to remove some fouling to keep your speed up.”

/neutral/ “You went back to cruising around after that was finished.”

/a bit reserved/“Five days later, another british steamer crossed your way. The encounter concluded with the “Clan Grant” sunk. And you sent a digging ship to the bottom the same day.”
…
/mumbling/ “Yep, the “Ponrabel”...”

/back to neutral/ “Four more ships found by you on the 18th of October. “Benmohr”, “Troilus” and the “St. Egbert” met their end on the bottom of the sea. The “Exfort” got lucky, you captured her and released her later.”

/neutral/ “And on the 19th of October-”
(…)
/quiet/ “You’re right, the “Chilkana”. The last merchant ship sunk by you.”

/mumbling/ “Nothing worth noting for a couple of days…”
/excited again/ “So your captain planned to raid another harbor and you steamed towards Penang.”

And again short, louder swoosh of wind

/still excited/ “It was 3 in the morning when you arrived at the entrance on the 28th of October. You rushed into the port at 18 knots, surprising some russian and french ships.”
/matter of factly/ “The “Zhemchug” bore the brunt of your attack, getting hit by your guns and two of your torpedoes at point blank range-” speaker suddenly pauses
/concerned/ “Are you alright? You seem sad…”
(…)
/wondering/ “Not a fair fight?”
(…)
/thinking/ “You hit her when she was sleeping at the piers… That may be true, but it was a war… No war is fought fair.”

/consoling/ “Hey. Heads up, Emden. Here you won’t be judged for that.”
little pause

/soft/ “Are you okay now? Can we continue?”
(…)
/kinda happy, a bit proud/ “Alright. It still was a daring raid, you couldn’t know that the port was barely secured. You turned to leave while the other ships at the harbor tried desperately to raise steam and you ran into the french destroyer “Mosquet” on your way out.”

/a little quieter again/ “They also had no idea what hit them.”
/and back to proud/“Despite the looming threat whether those other ships would get underway, you still stopped to pick up survivors from the water.”
(…)
/content/ “You are right, that was the right thing to do. I’m just saying, others probably would have preferred to get away safely.”

/happy/ “On October the 30th you stopped the “Newburn”. Not to sink the merchant vessel, your crew transferred the french sailors to her and sent the “Newburn” on her way.”

/neutral/ “After your bold attack on Penang, your captain had ideas for a third raid. He wanted to attack the british coaling station in the Cocos Islands.
Destroy the wireless station there, to draw british attention from your next hunting grounds.”
/neutral/ “You got on your way to get there and kept looking for more merchant ships, but none were found…”

and another louder, short swoosh of wind

/neutral, leaning into grim/ “So without further ado, you got there in the morning of the 9th of November. While some of your crew members assembled a landing party, you tried to jam their wireless station.”
/neutral, leaning into grim/ “But they got out a distress call, “unknown ship off the entrance”. Nobody knew that the HMAS “Sydney” was only 52 miles away. She immediately turned towards the islands and approached at full speed.”

/sad undertone/ “Your wireless operators picked up her messages, but assumed she was way further out. 9 am, your lookouts spotted smoke on the horizon.”
(…)
/compassionate/ “Oh that was a nasty surprise, I can imagine.”

/serious tone/ “The lookouts identified the “Sydney”  as an enemy warship half an hour later.”
(…)
/reassuring/ “I know, there was no time to get the people from the landing party back aboard. So you readied yourself to square off with the enemy.”

/proud/ “You fought with courage, throwing a barrage of shots towards "Sydney ". You even scored the first hits, but your shells did not do much damage. The “Sydney” had the bigger guns, was faster and better armored. You and your crew gave it your all, but your opponent hit you harder.”
/
slowly increasing sad undertone/ “The firefight didn’t even last two hours. Most of your guns were silenced, gone were two of your funnels and your foremast. Your rangefinders were destroyed, and your rudder disabled. Leaving you on fire and to steer only with your propellers.”

/matter of factly/ “Unable to continue the fight, your captain ran you aground on a reef on North Keeling Island. Your hull slowly broken up by the waves over time, your journey ended there. After travelling 30.000 miles, capturing 23 merchant vessels with 16 of them sunk, and sinking two enemy warships…”

The louder, short swoosh of wind for a last time

/proud/ “You travelled far, little cruiser… You did well, Emden.”
little pause
/worried/ “Why have you gone so quiet?”
(…)
/reassuring/ “Don’t worry about that. You were built as a warship, those are the things you had to do during a war. That’s how it is.”
(…)
/consoling/ “The ships you sunk? They are all here. Safe under my care, just as you now.”
(…)
/lightens up a bit/ “Of course! You can ask me anything.”
(…)
/soft/ “This here? This is the destination of your journey.”
(…)
/thinking/ “That differs… it can be anything you want.”
(…)
/surprised/ “You wanna meet your sister once she gets here?” /to awkward/ “Well…”
/awkward/ “She’s already here. Wouldn’t you believe it, she had her own crazy story to tell…”
(…)
/sad tone again/ “Yeah, she also didn’t make it through the war…”

/but quickly to cheery/ “Come, let me take you to her.”

We gotta be faster (A {+M?} 4 A/F) [chief engineer speaker][RMS Carpathia listener][you’re a literal ship][15th April 1912][racing to aid the titanic]

Idea for description: You are a small ocean liner of the cunard line, making your way towards europe. The year is 1912, the 15th of April has just begun. It’s 0.30 AM, when your wireless operator Harold Cottam received a message…

Little help:

sounds (a little more explanation what I mean)

/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words” -> about 1400 spoken words

CE = Chief engineer (main speaker)

CR = Captain Arthur Rostron (either collab partner or just another voice you do)

Listener = the ship RMS Carpathia

Script starts here:

sounds of morse code transmission, SOS, SOS, SOS  (S=three short, O= three long, so for one I have seen it written out >dit-dit-dit, dah dah dah, dit-dit-dit<)

little pause ( give it some seconds)

sounds of working steam engine in the background for now

RRRRRING, RRRRRING, RRRRRING! (sound of machine telegraph ringing)

CE /surprised/ “What? Stop?”

CE /louder, shouting to crew in engine room/ “All engines stop! Slow ‘em down!”

sounds of lots of people getting moving, valves turned, engines slowing down to a stop

RRRRRING, RRRRRING RRRRRING! (again sound of machine telegraph ringing)

CE /wondering, baffled/ “And now back to full ahead? What do they want up there?”

CE /louder/ “Open the valves back up! The bridge wants full steam ahead again!”

valves squeaking, steam flowing, engines speeding up again

CE/quiet mumbling to listener/ “What are they playing on up there? Do you have an idea?”

couple seconds of just engine noise, then

CR/muffled (coming through speaking tube)/ “Engine room for bridge… engine room for bridge…”

sounds of a metal lid opening

CE/shouting into tube/ “Engine room, Johnston here. What is it?”

CR/serious, still muffled/ “Chief, I need you up on the bridge. Hurry!”

muffled sound of lid on other side being closed, CE closing the lid of speaking tube in his end too

CE /voice a little raised/ “Captain Rostron wants to see me. Guess I’m about to find out what is going on.”

engine noises and some steps on metal fading out, steps on wooden floor fading in

CE /mumbling to themself/ “All the officers are also here? What the hell is going on?”

a bit more steps, mumbling of multiple people

CR /serious/ “Johnston, good you’re here.” short pause “Listen up. Cottam at the Marconi received a SOS transmission, the Titanic has struck a berg.

She is in distress 58 miles from here on the bearing north 52 west. We’ll make utmost speed in going to her rescue.

Call out an extra watch in the engine room and raise every ounce of steam possible. We may reach her in 4 hours.”

another short pause

CR /dead serious/ “Make her run, Johnston. As fast as she can.”

CE/ determined/ “We bring her up to speed, Captain!”

CR/satisfied/ “Good. I count on you and your men. Now get back down there.”

CE stepping away -> steps on wood fading out, steps on metal and noise of running steam engines fading in

CE /shouting to other personnel/ “Alright, Lads! Open up those valves to their hard stop! Rostron wants us to push our Carpathia to the limit!

Maybe a bit more valves turning, engines speeding up a little more

CE /sarcastic/ “Why? The captain wants to try for the blue riband!”

Little pause (enough that some crewman could say something)

CE /shocked, angry/ “No! Of course not!”

CE /serious/ “Jokes aside, the situation is serious. White Star Line’s Titanic has hit ice and needs assistance. We need to be fast!”

Couple steps, hand pats on metal surface

CE /quiter, challenging/ “Show us what you got, old girl. We have to get there!”

CE /louder again, to other crew/ “Don’t let her bearings get too hot while I am gone! I have to pay our firemen a visit.”

Steps on metal and engine noise fading out, steps on metal fading in, plus occasional shovels scraping and coal being thrown into fireboxes (closer and further away)

CE /shouting/ “Listen up Lads, I have bad news!”

clanking and scraping of shovels stop

CE /a bit calmer, serious again/ “We are going to aid the Titanic, she struck an iceberg and sent out SOS And CQD messages. She’s 58 miles away, Captain Rostron wants us to get our lady there as fast as possible.”

CE pauses

CE /still a bit quieter/ “Yes, she’s in the ice field. But our Captain expects 2000 people waiting for us, so we need to hurry.”

CE /louder again/ “I’ll get the second shift in here. I need you to feed our boilers non-stop, keep up the pressure so our engines can work at maximum performance. I know the next hours will be hell, but we need all the steam we can get!”

lots of people mumbling, much more coal shoveling noises

CE /cheering/ “Like that! That’s the spirit!”

CE /much calmer, to listener/ “Will that be enough old girl? Are you ready to race north?”

some steps again

CE /whispering to listener/ “Let’s do our duty as best we can.”

steps and boiler room noises (scraping shovels, fires burning) fading out, engine room noises (steam engines hard at work) fading in

CE /mumbling to themself/ “Condensers are keeping up, engine RPM and steam pressure remain stable…”

CE /yelling to other crewmen/ “How are the bearings holding up? Are they heating up?”

CE /quiet again/ “Temperature of the bearings normal…”

CE /louder to other crew again/ “Keep her like that! I’ll go up to the bridge again. Maybe Rostron knows some more by now.”

And again, steps and engine room noises fading out, steps on wooden floor fading in

CR /worried/ “Johnston! How are the engines holding up?”

CE /matter-of-factly/ “Brought them up to maximum RPM, sir! Everything is working fine so far.”

CR /with urgent tone/ “Cottam exchanged more messages with the Titanic. I can’t really believe it, but it appears they are going down. They doubt she’ll stay afloat until we get there. Can we get Carpathia sailing any faster?”

CE /grumbling/ “Damn… we are already shoveling coal into the fireboxes without rest and the boilers are just holding up the pressure…”

CE /pondering/ “The engines are doing well. I think they could bear some more revolutions per minute, but the boilers won’t be able to keep up with the demand.”

CR unintelligible mumbling for a bit

CR /determined/ “What if we free up some steam? Shut off everything that is bleeding steam but not necessary right now. The steam heating for example. Disconnect everything from it, just keep the saloons warm for the people we’re gonna take aboard!”

CE /encouraged/ “That could work, Captain. Maybe we can get another knot or two out of her.”

CR /happy, but urgent/ “Wonderful, chief. Find everything unnecessary and shut it off!”

CE /motivated/ “Yes sir!”

quick steps fading out, engine room noises fading in

CE /trying to talk over engine noise/ “DONE!... Tom, how’s it looking? Yeah, yeah, I think the RPM have increased a bit.”

CE /whispering to listener/ “You’re doing great, old girl. Sorry for pushing you that hard, but it needs to be done.”

CE /normal talking to other crew/ “You should have seen what’s going on on the upper decks. Captain Rostron thought of everything!

little pause

CE /emphasizing/ “Yes! There are more lookouts on the bow, the boats are swung out, the stewards have hot coffee, tea and soup at the ready, our ship’s doctors turned the dining saloons into triage units-” /impressed/ “prepared all our medical supplies for that. They are collecting coats and blankets, and cargo nets were hung over the hull so people can climb up. The gangway doors are opened, and there’s a team at each one of them with pulley systems to pull up everyone too weak to climb.

Some sailors even prepared oil, so we can pour it over board to calm the sea if need arises…”

CE /thinking out loud/ “The Cap really covered all his bases, huh old girl?”

CE /sorrowful/ “I hope we’ll make it in time…”

No dialogue for a bit, just steam engines working hard fading out and back in again

CR /through speaking tube again/ “Johnston? Johnston! You’re there?!”

metal lid of speaking tube again

CE /with discipline/ “Yes, Sir!”

CR /worried/ “I know you are already pushing her hard. But can you give me more? We received another message from Titanic. They are begging us to come as fast as we can. She is going down, water is filling up her engine room to the boilers…”

CE /understanding/ “I can’t promise anything, Captain. But I’ll see what I can do.”

CR /neutral/ “Good. Thank you.”

click of lid closing

CE /stunned,to other crew nearby so not so loud/ “The Titanic… she’s really sinking… she has not much time left it seems…”

Little pause

CE /still shocked/ “Crap. This isn’t good…”

Pause, a bit longer

fast steps

CE /hurried, while running/ “Keep an eye on the bearings! I’ll go to the boiler room again.”

CE /mumbling while running/ “We gotta be faster, old girl!”

Engine room noises fading out, boiler room noises fading in

CE/loudly, but a little out of breath/ “How’s it looking?”

CE /worried/ “I know it’s taxing work, but we have to keep up the pace! The Titanic won’t stay afloat for long!”

Some steps

CE /compassionate/ “You look exhausted, young fellow… gimme your shovel.”

CE picking up coal and throwing it into fire

CE/calm/ “Take a breather, I’ll take over for a bit.”

CE /chuckling/ “You are hungry tonight, old girl!”

More coal into the fire

CE /quiet/ “Who could blame you? We never asked you to exert yourself like that before…”

CE scraping up coal and feeding the fire multiple times, fading out and back in

All coal shoveling suddenly stops

CE/breathing hard, shocked/ “WHAT?”

CE /in disbelief/ “There are no more messages from Titanic? WE lost contact with her?!”

couple seconds of silence

Just CE throwing another load of coals into the fire

CE /shouting encouragingly/ “COME ON, LADS!”

CE scraping up another load of coal and into the fire

CE/half motivating, half desperate/ “OUR CARPATHIA NEEDS ALL THE STEAM WE CAN GET! MOVE YOUR GODDAMN SHOVELS!!”

People muttering, more and more coal shoveling noises

CE also still shoveling coal, one load in between the following phrases each

CE /determined/ “Come on old girl!”

CE /determined again/ “Give us everything you got!

CE /shouting to firemen/ “HANG IN THERE LADS!”

CE /still shouting/ “KEEP THE COAL MOVING, PUT THESE SHOVELS TO WORK!!”

Lots of coal shoveling in the background, some more swings of the shovel by CE

CE/catching breath/ “Hey there young fellow, able to continue on your station again?”

CE /relieved/ “Great.”

CE /still a bit out of breath/ “I’ll head back to the engine room.”

Steps, boiler room noises fading out, engine room noises fading in

CE/a bit stressed/ “How are the engines holding up? Anything unusual?”

CE /relieved again/ “No? That’s good news then.”

CE walking around, climbing up metal ladder

CE /stern, to other crewmen/ “How are the bearings doing?”

little pause

CE /calm/ “Unsure? Let me show you a little trick.”

CE spitting, followed by short burst of sizzling

CE /smug/ “If you are unsure if a bearing is hot, spit on it! If it spits back, it’s getting hot!”

CE/louder to other oilers/ “Make sure you give the bearings a good dab of oil every revolution! We’re right at the border, but we can’t reduce our speed!”

little pause

CE /much quieter/ “Not now at least…”

couple more steps, CE patting metal surface

CE /encouraging whisper/ “Keep pushing, old girl. There will be people waiting for us to help them…”

CE /sorrowful/ “I hope…”

engine room noises fading out and back in, suddenly a faint metal groan

CE/Surpised/”WOAH!”

CE /to other crewman/ “She’s lurching pretty hard, I suppose they put the rudder hard over!”

RRRRRING! RRRRRING! RRRRRING! (machine telegraph again)

CE/ shouting/  “AHEAD AT HALF STEAM! CLOSE THE VALVES A BIT!”

from now on steam engines slower in the background

some steps, metal lid opening

CE/talking into speaking tube/ “Bridge for engine room, can you hear me?!”

CR/through speaking tube/ “What is it, Johnston?”

CE/eager, curious/ “Why are we slowing down? Have we arrived at Titanic’s position?”

CR/tense/ “Not quite, Chief. But our lookouts spotted multiple bergs. Barely avoided the first, there are plenty to come. They are nearly invisible on this moonless night! I can’t risk it pushing at full steam anymore, we reached the icefield. Stay alert, you all did well so far.”

CE/acknowledging/ “Understood. Awaiting further orders.”

lid of speaking tube closing

CE /commanding/ “You! Go tell the firemen that they can slow down now.”

CE /again commanding/ “And you two, go and connect the central heating back up! With half ahead we can spare the steam for that. Our passengers and the people from the Titanic will be glad about that I believe.”

CE /tense, mumbling/ “Hope your lookouts keep a sharp eye, old girl. Not that we end up like the white star liner…”

engine room noises fading out again, and fading back in again. plus ongoing metal scraping, creaking

CE /concerned/ “Must be ice floes, brushing along her hull…”

CE listens for a bit

CE /tense, worried/ “I hope your hull can take the impacts, old girl… THAT DAMN ICE!”

CE/commanding again/ “Go prepare our supplies for shoring up damage. If we spring a leak, I won’t be taken by surprise! We will be ready!”

And engine room noises fading out again. When engine room noises fading back in, machine telegraph again

RRRRRING RRRRRING RRRRRING!

CE /shouting out again/ “SLOW AHEAD! Reduce her speed further!”

steam engines slowing even more

CE/talking to other crewman/ “We must be in the thick of the icefield now. If Rostron won’t go above slow ahead, how bad is  it? And to think that Titanic charged into this mess with her throttles opened up…”

And for the last time, engine room noises fading out, and fading back in

last time RRRRRING! RRRRRING!RRRRRING!

CE /mix of stress and relief/ “STOP THE ENGINES! STOP THEM!!”

valves being turned, steam engines slowing until stopping

steps as CE runs to speaking tube again

CE /tense/ “Bridge for engine room, bridge for engine room!”

CE /impatient/ “COME ON, BRIDGE FOR ENGINE ROOM!”

CR /voice hollow, shocked/ “It’s Captain Rostron…”

CE/nervous/ “Captain, why are we stopping? Do you have the Titanic in sight?”

CR/shocked/ “We spotted a lifeboat, but… no trace of the Titanic…”

CE /also shocked/ “You think… ?”

CR /sad/ “I think she went under before we got here…”

click from captain closing lid, another click from CE closing the lid on his side

CE/ concerned/ “If the Titanic is gone… how many people fit in her lifeboats?”

CE /frustrated/ “Shit…”

CE /sad/ “We gave all we had tonight, old girl. All we can hope now is that that was enough…”

End

Disclaimer: This is still a work of fiction. I tried to stick to facts, but I took some artistic liberties. I don’t know what exactly went down in Carpathia’s engine rooms that night, from what I gathered all the people aboard her went above and beyond in the circumstances they found themselves in. They deserve just as much recognition as the engineers and firemen of the Titanic, fighting to save as many lives as possible.

To the heroes of that night!

Here's a link to the google doc, if you prefer to work with that:

Skin Problems [A4A] [human speaker][lamia/naga listener][flatmates][modern fantasy?][friendly assistance][comfort][banther][wholesome]

[A4A]Skin Problems

 [human speaker][lamia/naga listener][flatmates][modern fantasy?][friendly assistance][comfort][banther][wholesome]

Okay for monetization (just credit me as the writer), you can change out words and pronouns if you want to make it more specific, I just wrote it A4A for convenience. about 1200 spoken words

Suggestion for description: You are a naga (or a lamia) and your friend group wanted to go to the cinema together. Something you normally wouldn’t miss, but there are “complications” this time. One of your friends shares the apartment with you, they come to your room to check up on you.

Little help:

sounds

/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words”

(...) = leave a little time (would be listener talking)

script starts here:

knocking on a door

/muffled from here… (speaker on the other side of the door)/ “Hey, I was just checking the group chat. The gang wanted to go to the cinema, are you coming? You’re the only one who hasn’t answered.”

(...)

/surprised/ “No?! You normally don’t miss out on fun…”

/worried/ “Are you okay? Do you feel sick?”

(...)

/confused/ “What is it then? Can I come in?” doorknob starting to turn, stops abrupt /again surprised/ “No again?”

little pause, speaker thinks for a moment

/asking carefully/ “Is- is it that time again?”

(...)

/playfully annoyed/ “You know what time I mean.”

little pause again

/knowing/ “You are shedding, aren’t you?... Why didn’t you say anything?”

sounds of speaker dialing someone on their phone

/quieter, speaker stepped back from the door a bit (little pauses between the phrases, speaker speaks over the phone to someone)/ “Hi Hothead!... Sry, I gotta keep it short. I just wanted to tell you that you and the gang don’t have to wait for me later… Yeah, something came up… No, they aren’t coming either… It’s the flakes again… Have fun though, bye!”

/louder again (speaker again in front of door), determined/ “Whether you want it or not, you are stuck with me this evening. I am coming in now, don’t you dare to protest!”

…till here, voice not muffled after door opens

door opening

/caring tone/ “There you are…”

little pause as speaker comes closer

/observant/ “Ah, I see… the snake half being difficult again, is it?”

(...)

/trying to lighten the mood/ “Can we really call it “half”? Like, your human torso and head make up a tenth of the length of your body, if even… maybe less… "

/compassionate/ “Sorry, you are clearly not in the mood for jokes… I can see how all your snake skin turned dull…”

(...)

/understanding/ “I know that is normal for your kind when shedding… and I know what isn’t normal about your shedding process.”

/soft, quiet/ “All that dead skin is already ripped into so many pieces, but every single one of them is still sticking firmly to your new skin.”

/curios/ “What was it called again? D.S.S.D?”

(...)

/mumbling/ “Dead skin separation disorder…”

long scratchy noise

speaker exhales

/soft, little frustrated/ “Why didn’t you ask me to help you?”

another drawn out scratching noise

(...)

speaker exhaling again “How many times did I tell you?”

/reassuring/ “Hey, listen. You aren’t a bother. I can watch that film any other time, but this can’t wait.”

again drawn out scratching noise

/assertive/ “Give me that comb-thingy!”

(...)

/just normal/ “I know, the correct term would be “skin separation assisting device”, but come on. It just looks like a slightly bent, oversized comb.”

(...)

/understanding, soft again/ “This procedure is uncomfortable for you, I am aware that it causes you some pain. But we’ve been over this already, you are TOO careful.”

/caring/ “Building up the tension to get the flakes off that slowly hurts more overall than doing it a bit faster… But you already know the pain is coming, so you can’t get yourself to do it quicker…”

(...)

/and again, soft voice/ “Would you be alright if I scratch those flakes off with the comb-thingy? You didn’t complain the previous time you let me do it.”

(...)

/little bit excited/ “Thank you for trusting me with this. I can imagine it’s a really personal matter to you.”

/little commanding/ “ Alright, scooch over a bit.”

/instantly back to soft, reassuring/ “I’ll sit down beside you. If you want, you can hold onto my hand again. So you can squeeze it when it hurts too much. I just use my other hand, luckily the “skin separator” isn’t too awkward to use.”

Sounds of fabric rustling as speaker sits down on bed

/surprised/ “Wooow…”

(...)

/amused/ “Your heated bed just caught me by surprise, that’s all.”

/chuckles/ “I always forget that you don’t produce your own body heat.”

a bit more fabric rustling

(...)

/laughing/ “No no. You don’t have to turn it down.” /to soft again/ “I think it’s nice and cozy. Also, we are in YOUR room. YOU should be the one to feel comfortable here.”

/mumbles, but compassionate/ “Especially when you gotta deal with stuff like this…”

/quickly getting more enthusiastic/ “Come on then. The sooner we get this started, the sooner it will be over.”

speaker patting their lap

/lighthearted/ “Would you rest your tail on my lap, please?”

again fabric rustling as listener shifts around

/satisfied/ “There we go!” /to soft/ “Looks like you got already halfway yourself… must have been at it for a while, hm?”

/quiet, caring/ “Ready?”

(...)

/soft again/ “My hand, of course… Can I start now?”

some shorter, faster paced scratch noises for a bit

/concerned/ “Is the way I do it bearable? I can feel your tail tensing up and you gripped my hand really tightly there…”

(...)

/relieved/ “Still better than doing it yourself? Glad to hear that. Then let’s get it over with, shall we?”

(...)

/cheery/ “That’s the spirit!”

Again the quicker scratching noises, continuous from here…

/mumbling/ “No more sad little noodle… “

(...)

/playful/ “What?! You are our little danger noodle…”

(...)

/teasing/ “Don’t be like that. Everybody in the gang loves the face you make when we call you our little danger noodle. We all know you would tower above us if you could stand upright with even half your body… but that doesn’t matter.”

(...)

/cheeky/ “You are always gonna be our little danger noodle.”

… till here.  A little more scratching noises, that slowly fade out

/cheerful/ “And done!”

/a bit quieter, soft/ “It’s over, we got it all off.”

Little bit of fabric rustling

/a little bit worried/ “Everything alright? Given that we just finished the painful part, you don’t look too happy…”

(...)

/pushy/ “Don’t say “oh, it’s nothing” now! I saw that look on your face.”

/quickly to soft again/ “Something is clearly bothering you. What is it?”

(...)

/a bit confused/ “What’s wrong with the new skin?”

(...)

/now a bit surprised/ “That other side effect of your condition? You mean the imprints of the shape of all the skin flakes on your new skin?”

(...)

/more surprised/ “That’s not the pattern your skin should have?”

Speaker pats shoulder of the listener

/cheerful/ “So there’s at least one good thing from your illness I guess!”

(...)

/back to confused/ "Why are you looking at me like that?”

(...)

/still not understanding/ “Yeah, I said a “good thing”. Do you think it’s not?”

(...)

/instantly to reassuring/ “That’s not true, not in the slightest. Ask any of our friends, we all think you are the coolest looking snek around… That pattern rocks!”

(...)

/serious/ “I do mean it, we all think so.”

/teasing again/ “Aw, did I make our little danger noodle blush?”

/happy/ “Glad I could bring a smile back to your face.”

/wondering/ “Do you want me to help you put this medical lotion on? Gonna take you ages to apply it to your whole snake half without assistance.”

(...)

/laughing/ “That’s not too much to ask, trust me.”

Sounds of opening something like a paint bucket

/baffled/ “That’s a whole bucket!”

(...)

/pondering/ “Guess you are right. With a body that long, a “normal” container wouldn’t get you very far…”

/eager/ “Let’s get started then.”

sounds of cream/lotion being applied from here on…

/fascinated/ “This feels funny… but in a good way…”

little pause + (...)

/startled, cause lost in thoughts/ “What was that, my friend?”

(...)

/curious/ “You don’t like the feeling of the lotion on your skin?”

(...)

/thinking/ “It makes you feel slimy?”

/chuckling/ “Like an amphibian? I can see why that bothers you…”

(...)

/genuinely interested/ “How does it affect your ability to move around though?”

(...)

/realizing/ “Ohh, less friction between your scales and the floor…”

(...)

/pondering/ “Would it be like standing on ice for me?”

(...)

/understanding/ “Constantly feeling like you are about to lose your footing does sound annoying…”

(...)

/wondering/ “How long does it take the lotion to get absorbed by your skin?”

(...)

 /mumbling/ “Wow… that sucks…”

… to here. still a bit more lotion applying

/pretending to be innocent/ “What do you mean your tail end feels weird? I did nothing. Noooothing at aaaaall.”

short pause

/chuckles/ “Maybe I put a knot into it…”

sounds of heavy rustling, bed creaking (listener trying to undo the knot but failing)

/taken aback by reaction from listener/ “Woah, WOAH! Stop thrashing around! I’ll fix it again!”

moment of silence

/frustrated/ “Just gimme your tail, move it over here!”

don’t know if there are sounds for that, but I imagine the speaker touching and pulling on the listeners tail for a bit

/shocked, mumbling/ “Uhm… I- I can’t undo it…”

/louder, still shocked/ “I can’t undo it!”

silence

give me your best evil/mad cackle

/laughing/ “Look at your face! HA HA ha ha, Gotcha!”

/still laughing/ “I am sorry, I couldn’t resist… but look, the knot is gone…”

/chuckles after calming down a bit/ “ Sorry again, but you are too precious- /baby voice/ “little pouty noodle…”

speaker laughing, until listener suddenly coils them

/surprised/ “WHAT?!”

coils tightening

/mocking moaning/ “... Harder!...”

listener tightening their coils further

/strained, hard to breathe/ “Not that hard!... I yield! I yield!... You win!”

maybe more creaking of the bed or something as listener releases speaker

/catching breath/ “Damn… I forgot… how strong you are…”

little pause

/pretending to be shocked/ “I can’t believe you would just squeeze me like that!”

(...)

/offended (sarcastically)/ “I had it coming?! How dare you! I have no idea what you mean…”

speaker laughing for a bit (with listener together)

/apologetic/ “No, but really. Sorry about the knot… thinking about it, it wasn’t funny. That was pretty mean actually… I hope I didn’t hurt your fresh new skin…”

(...)

/relieved/ “Phew.”

/with a smile/ “How about I help you clean out all those skin flakes and then I cook dinner for both of us? You know, as a proper apology.”

end of script (?)

I have a little bonus scene I didn’t know where to put:

TV in the background

“Paper” ripping

/lost in thoughts/ “Hm? What were you asking?”

(...)

more “paper” ripping

/little confused/ “What am I doing?”

ripping “paper” (...)

/realizing/ “Oh, ripping the flakes of your old skin apart?”

silence for a bit

/thinking/ “I don’t know. It feels weirdly soothing… or satisfying?”

another rip

/chuckles/ “Like popping the blisters on bubble wrap! You know, the old one where you could still do that…”

(...)

/angrily/ “I swear, if I get my hands on the guy that reinvented it so the blisters can’t be popped anymore!…”

drawn out ripping of “paper”

/happily/ “But this is just as good!”

Serving as memorial A4A

[sequel Until the last shell][Chief engineer speaker x Warship listener][literal ship][long time no see][memories][we lived!][lore dump?/rambling?]

Idea for description: You thought the sea would claim you, after you fought your last battle. Now you find yourself back at your home port, restored and a museum ship now. Today was your grand opening and one of the visitors stayed after hours.

sounds

/tone of voice for the/ “spoken words”

about 2200 spoken words, script starts here:

harbor ambience until speaker steps inside later* (like waves, light winds, maybe a seagull here and there or a whistle of a boat)

some uneven steps on wooden deck, speaker limps all the time

/whispering to themself/ “Now that all the visitors have left, I can finally do this properly…”

/louder, but softly/ “Hello, old girl.”little pause

/a bit quieter/“It’s been a while…7 long years…”

/normal again, little annoyed/ “And there was so much going on the day we finally met again. So many people here on your deck, there wasn’t even room to fall over…”

some more steps

/In awe, happy/ “Oh boy, look at you my old friend. You are sharper than ever! The guys of the Dockyards really went all out for your restoration, didn’t they?”

/astonished/ “I heard the previous lord of the dockyard even came out of retirement to oversee the work on you.”

/joking around/ “That guy looks like a dried up raisin… not a dried up grape, a dried up raisin!”

/chuckles/ “Heh, guess I am one to talk… The wrinkles are plentiful and also digging deep into my face now.”

more steps again, walking while talking

/dreamy/ “But I guess the old lord made sure the work was done to perfection. Everything is just like back then, when I first set foot on your deck.”

/matter-of-factly/ “Well not everything. They placed those information boards everywhere…” /a little quieter/ “I hope they don’t bother you.”

/happy/ “Even if these boards did, I think you have to get used to that. You are a museum ship now, displaying YOUR part of our navy’s history.”

/In awe again/ “It’s well deserved, but can you believe that?”

steps until here, speaker stops

/kinda indifferent/ “There was such a crowd, I didn’t bother during the day.”

taps on glass

/more serious tone/ “But let’s see if they got it correct… I swear, if they put some stupid stuff on those boards…”

a bit of Incoherent mumbling

/a little bit in disbelief, but still happy/ “Damn! I knew you were the problem-child of the yard back then, your construction wasn’t going smoothly…”

/little bit louder/ “And the sea trials!” hand slapping against forehead

/annoyed, frustrated/ “The god-awful quality of the coal, so much more dust than usual…”

/from annoyed to reminiscing/ “And it burned like crap. I remember passing out from all the work with the shovel- we hardly kept up with the demand of the boilers...”

couple steps more

/judging/ “What do we have over here? The battle of Atelus strait?...

/over to a sober, serious tone/  You could say the most important victory for our navy…”

/mumbling in a serious tone/ “Yet it looked so bleak in the beginning… our enemy had more ships… and their gunnery seemed to be better. One of our cruisers crippled, before our shells even hit them.”

/more clear/“And then the fog rolled in. You couldn’t see more than 200 yards and unbeknownst to us, we got separated from our own fleet.” little pause to think

/somber/ “5 hours of slugging through that white wall of mist, before a strong breeze blew it away.”

/more lighthearted/ “Ha ha ha, I can’t believe our captain didn’t shit his pants! We didn’t notice down in the engine room, but when that fog lifted… We were only half a mile away from the closest enemy.”

/swallows, a little scared/ “Their squadron between us and our other ships.”

/quickly back to normal, maybe even a bit proud/ “The enemy reduced their speed when they couldn’t see in the mist too, when we didn’t. Maybe they were focused on the rest of our fleet, I don’t know. They didn’t notice us until it was too late. The captain ordered you to steam right into their formation, closing in quickly. And then-”

/blown away/ “I CAN’T BELIEVE THERE IS A PICTURE OF THAT! Did their lookout have a camera?!”

/telling of fond memories/ “You split that enemy torpedo boat clean through the middle! And afterwards we bore down on an unsuspecting protected cruiser. Your ram nearly cleaved off his bow, I felt that impact even in the engine room.”

/proud/ “That’s when your guns started to speak, their flagship to our starboard side.

Nearly point blank, they had no chance. You sent two more cruisers to the bottom in quick succession, and set another pre-dreadnought ablaze…”

/a bit in awe, still proud/ “You slamming into their fleet broke their formation and left the enemy in confusion. Easy pickings for us and the other ships of our fleet… And the glory of that day made you the Kingdom's  flagship.” short pause

/a whisper/ “For decades to come…”

and some steps again

/pleased/ “Oh, that’s a nice depiction of you firing all your guns.” /thinking/ “Which one of the many bombardments is this supposed to be? Kallis?”

/half in awe, half a slightly mad laugh/ “OH, I swear I heard those torpedoes scratch along the hull. One on each side!”

/suddenly quieter again/“Imagine if those things had magnetic detonators back then, we'd have been fodder for the fishes…”

a couple more steps

/thinking a bit harder/ “And this one? Gulf of Vara… Vara?-”

/with sudden realization/ “I remember! When we got swarmed by those small torpedo boats with those really old torpedoes! They had to get so close…”

/like telling fond memories again/ “Your secondary battery put on a real fireworks display, keeping them away. Did your 6 inch guns ever fired faster than that? And we were maneuvering like crazy, constantly switching directions of the engines to help turn away from the torpedoes they did launch.”

couple steps again

/thinking/ “I wonder if… there it is!”

some more steps

/pleased/ “The skirmish at the Oprea Islands! That was a tough one… You and your two sisterships, facing three other pre-dreadnoughts. You lead our little task force, the gunnery duel between the ships dragging on. We scared them off, but you received nearly 300 hits…” /again so proud/ “and still, minimal damage.” Hand petting metal surface couple times

/with nervous laughter/ “The shock when we found an enemy shell lodged in one of our magazines after that battle… this could have gone so, so much worse…”

and some more steps

/amused/ “Ha, that damn watersprout! Went straight over us and ripped our rigging and the longboats apart. That shit poured so much water down your funnels, I was afraid it would extinguish your boilers… That was an experience!”

again, more steps

/again a little quieter/ “But not as bad as the storm at Cape Lanus… it was supposed to be a nice little exercise… ”

/a little pained/ “But it was even worse than I thought… 50 ships were involved, 4 made it out. One nearly sinking, two heavily damaged. And one drenched from the keel up to the tips of the masts, but pretty much undamaged.”

/grateful/ “Thank you old girl, for getting us through that…”

guess what? more steps!

/understanding/ “Ah, of course. Can’t miss out on the Glawiss-incident.”

/a little aggravated/ “Those fuckers thought they could sneak close to our home harbor in the dark and pull of a night raid.”

/back to proud/ “But they didn’t recon with us! Engaged them head on, the muzzle flashes lighting up the dark.

The two armored cruisers sunk when we pushed through between them, your secondaries fiercely spitting fire as usual…”

/a little gleeful/ “And for the ‘Glawiss’? You burrowed your bow in her side, after putting two 12 inch shells into her rear turret. That pre-dreadnought blocked part of our harbor entrance for weeks…”

/a little bit ashamed/ “And the dockyard had to do extensive repairs to your bow again…” /sober/ “I know we had a lot of leaks to shore up after that ramming attack to even get back into the harbor.”

and again, some more steps (who would have thought?)

/wondering/ “The last infoboard out here… Yeah, I remember the raid at Daar’s point…”

/disappointed/ “We made the same mistake as the ‘Glawiss’, the admiralty wanted us and the ‘Viribus Ventorum’ to sneak in there, bombard the facilities at night.”

/painful to remember/ “They knew we were coming… five battleships at the ready, and those damn coastal guns…”

/somber/ “They waited for us to get closer, opened up from a distance of a mile at most… it says right here that their rounds would have hit us, if it weren’t for some empty spaces in your superstructure. Their second salvo blew away some lifeboats and one of the secondary guns, but other than that…”

/sad/ “The ‘Ventorum’ took most of the heavy fire, didn’t take long for her to burst into flames… there was no helping them…”

/underlying anger/ “And we had to get away, fast. That was the first time we let more pressure into the engines than they were rated for. We made you run at 20 knots instead of 18…”

/sad chuckle/ “Hehe… The people at the dockyard weren’t happy, they had to rebuild your engines after that.”

/confused/ “Seems like I saw everything out here. Is there more inside? I think they left out the most impressive chapter.”

more steps and a door opening, harbor sounds stopping here

/in awe again, surprised/ “Oh my… a whole separate exhibition. “Until the last shell, the incredible escape and last stand of the ‘Viribus Oceanis’... that title tracks…”

the one or other step during the sentences, like reading little bit and then going to the next exhibition piece

/neutral/ “We arrived early at the Delgarian Islands, a happy little accident for us. Got to fill up our coalbunkers two weeks before the royal family arrived.”

/swears/ “Those damn delgarians!”

/calmer again/ “Refused to coal up the ships of the royal entourage again… wanted to trap our king and his family there, who knows what they wanted to do to them…”

steps stop, speaker standing still while reminiscing

/telling fond memories again/ “And lady luck smiled upon us again… without another foggy morning, we probably wouldn't have been able to sneak away. We ran for two days, but then our lookout spotted the “Commodore Wals”, their newest dreadnought. Coming for us…”

/changing to daunting/ “I still remember the desperation in the voice of our captain… she wasn’t just ordering us to full speed ahead, she begged us for everything you could give.”

/quietly repeating her words/ “>Make her go as fast as she possibly can! Give me everything, EVERYTHING!<... I can still hear her panicked tone…”

/sights/ “If the lord of the dockyard knew what we were doing down in your engine and boiler rooms, he’d kill us…”

/whistfull but proud/ “Goddamn, but now you are the only pre-dreadnought that ever cracked 22 knots… “

/wondering/ “Wait, is this…?”

“two or three faster steps

/disbelief, surprised/ “IT IS, HOW did they get their hands on that?”

/exstatic/ “That’s the captain's favourite bottle of rum! At least, what remained of it, after it fell off the shelf.”

/getting quieter again/ “Because the vibrations of the engines shook your whole hull like crazy… I know your rangefinders took damage from the shaking alone…”

a hand stroking over metal surface

/sad tone/ “It hurt pushing you that far, to me it felt like you were shivering…”

/worried, empathic/ “Were you afraid too? Afraid we wouldn’t get away, afraid we’d die trying?”

/worried/ “Cause I was, I am not gonna lie about that…Overpressure valves disabled, boilers 10 bars above test pressure… we had to spill cold seawater on the outside of your condensers, otherwise they wouldn’t keep up.”

/astonished again/ “And your bearings got so hot! We used the lubrication oil for a whole week in just five hours to prevent them from completely overheating…”

/thinking out loud/ “I wonder what that delgarian captain thought, when they realised they weren’t catching up to us… must have driven that guy crazy…”

more steps

/contemplative/ “But you brought us to a neutral harbor, where the royals would be safe. Maybe we should have kept running, all the way back to our home port… but maybe they would have found us again before we’d have gotten there…”

some taps on glass again

/sad undertone/ “No use thinking about the ‘if’s’ now. The royal family was safe, but that stop doomed us... doomed you. When leaving that port again, two delgarian dreadnoughts were waiting for us. No running this time, your engines were way too worn out to pull this stunt again.”

/really quiet/ “They could shoot further with their 14 inch guns… their shells packed more punch…”

/sad/ “Seeing those pictures now, I never knew how badly they shot you up above the waterline… I can barely recognize you there…”

jiggle of some keys

/wondering/ “The old lord of the dockyard gave me this keychain… I wonder…”

some steps, door unlocking, door opening, steps changing from wooden to metal floor and fading out

then fading in again

/nostalgic/ “Back home…”

/frustrated with themself/ “Damnit, I am getting old, old girl.I need to sit down, just because I climbed down some narrow stairs…”

rustling of clothes, speaker sits down

/neutral/ “I mean, the prosthetic foot is not helping, but still…”

maybe some light breaths, speaker taking in the sight

/completely in awe/ “Incredible… just incredible… everything back in pristine condition, your engines look like they are ready to run at any moment.”

/wondering/ “Did they put in new ones, or did they restore your original machinery? Hold on- let me check.”

speaker getting up, couple steps, a metal cover getting opened

/snorting amused, cursing/ “God damn… >Kev was here< this stupid oiler! Scratching that shit into the cast iron…”

/impressed/ “But hats off to the dockworkers, they really restored your original engines, even after sitting two years in saltwater…I can’t imagine the pain that was!”

Steps on metal floor fading out and fading in again

/whistful/ “The boiler room… I didn’t expect to see all this again. Everything looks so clean… It’s surreal seeing you like this…”

you know already, some steps

/deep in thought/ “Back again, back at the spot I thought I’d close my eyes for good…”

a hand caressing a valve or some surface again

/a bit confused, a bit grateful/ “How did we get this lucky back then? Nobody at the helm anymore… with your list and only one screw working, we weren’t staying on course. You slowly drifted to starboard… our heading changing steadily, straight at a sandbank.”

little pause

/wondering/ “Is that why you were so stubborn? Did-did you know it was there?”

/proud undertone/ “ ‘Cause now it seems to me like you clawed your way on this shallow spot with your last bit of strength… Must have hit it right after I opened the release valves…”

more steps

/unsure/ “I was already unconscious when you settled on the bank. I still have no idea who pulled me out of the water that was gathering in here. Was it the captain? Did she make a final round through the ship and found me?”

little pause

/nostalgic again/ “Looking back, we always got lucky. So, so lucky…”

couple seconds of silence

/happily/ “ I’ll toast to you when I visit the pup tonight, old friend.”

long pause

/sad undertone/ “I guess I should get going. The old Lord of the dockyard wanted these keys back at the front desk of the administration building by midnight…”

two steps, speaker turning around

/excited/ “I nearly forgot, the new lord of the dockyard promised me that you will lead the next naval parade through our harbor. You’re gonna be under steam again!”

short hesitation

/softly/ “Please behave and be kind to your new personnel. I am sure they will treat you with respect, you are still the pride of our navy after all.”

again little pause, like waiting for an response

/sad undertone/ “You know, it is weird when it is so quiet down here, no noises from you at all…”

disappointed pause

/sad whispering/ “Leaves me asking myself, were our ‘conversations’ just my imagination? Or did your spirit finally leave you after that last fight?”

couple seconds of silence, then a quiet, drawn out creak of metal

/barely able to get words out because happy tears/ “It makes me so damn happy to know that you’re still here, old girl!”

End

NOTE: this is the more neutral version, in the second tab of the google doc you find a little longer version that is set in the world of a little community writing project I am happy to be a part of. spoken word count for that: about 2400 words
