Are Lurchers just elite anti-Gold specialists in teams — or are the very best of them legitimate 1v1 Peerless killers?
IMO, yes.
The most elite Lurchers clearly can and do kill Peerless. That’s what separates the true Legio XIII “kill squad” Dragones from ordinary Praetorians — and Praetorians are already a cut above standard Lurchers. I also don’t buy that teardrop tattoos are awarded for merely being part of a group kill. When Rhone asks Atlas for “kill clearance,” the implication is that Rhone believes he can kill Lysander himself — and that his face full of tattoos is his résumé.
The counterargument is that the tattoo might just go to whoever delivers the killing blow/shot, even if the kill was assisted. Under that view, no Lurcher has necessarily made a clean, unassisted 1v1 kill against a Peerless.
But I think the text points the other way: the best scarhunters are dangerous enough that at least some Peerless would lose to them straight up.
