And if so, were you able to find an effective substitute?

I had about thirty lovely days on Lamictal (Lamotrigene) before it lost effectiveness. I was left with all of the side effects (poor word recall, nightmares) and could not get any of the positives back, even with a dose increase.

I'm hoping to arrange for a GeneSight panel before I start experimenting with meds again, but if anyone has had a similar experience, I'd love to know if you found a match elsewhere.

EDIT for clarification: I was on Lamictal for roughly a year. The 30 days mentioned above is how long it was effective; I continued to take it in increasing doses for months, unsuccessfully, until weaning off completely.
