My daughter married an ex-JW man last year. Neither of them are religious. She has gone no contact with me after what seemed like a minor disagreement and since knowing him has also dumped several longtime friends and a former partner. She and I recently met and it felt like we made a lot of headway with it ending in her saying she loved me and we should get together soon. She went home and two days later when I inquired about getting together she said she changed her mind and also wouldn't attend my 75th birthday party. Is it a thing that some former JWs continue with what they grew up with - coercive control - while leaving the church?
