New law requires driver’s education course to get license
Sounds like it’s applicable to all high school students now, and will be applicable to anyone who’s a new driver starting in 2027.
If you’re out of high school, like a family member of mine is who’s still recovering from an abusive relationship and never held a license, or a teenager in Mississippi who doesn’t have a drivers ed course in school/can’t get into a class in time, you will now have to pay a few hundred dollars to be able to get a driver’s license. Not including paying for the license itself.
It’s too much to ask for these lawmakers to think through what they put into law before they do it, I suppose.
Good luck living in rural parts of the state where you really need a car.
