NBD (new bars day)

TOSEEK integrated carbon handlebars ($107). 38cm wide and 80cm stem length to mirror my previous dialed in setup. I had to cut about a 1/8 inch off the steering tube to fit these but the rise on these seemed to make up for it compared to my previous setup. Replaced all the brake hoses while I was at it. Recently put on these new tires too, it’s feeling like a brand new bike.

My Zwift “Ride”

I converted my old rim brake bike into my dedicated Zwift “ride” and I’m curious how many of y’all have done something similar?

I stripped the brakes, cables, and swapped out the derailleurs for a single speed tensioner. I have Zwift Play controllers so I don’t need to manually shift. It is so quiet that I can’t hear the drive train past the soft hum of the Tacx Neo 2. I had made a fork stand with some spare lumber last year and it’s not had any issues at all. My trainer was bought second hand for $450, the single speed cassette and tensioner was $50, the front fork mount was $10, Zwift Play controllers were $50. Though I already had the bike, a second hand rim brake bike goes for under $200 locally. So $760 for the whole setup is still a great deal to me. There’s cheaper KickR’s second hand that can bring the price down but I much prefer the Neo trainers.

I normally have my Zwift setup in the basement but our basement flooded due to a ruptured water heater so I’m temporarily upgraded to the living room.
