Constant gnawing sensation with normal endoscopy

28F. I’ve had a constant gnawing/hunger-like sensation in my upper stomach since 2019. It can be there even after eating, and the only thing that reliably makes it disappear is becoming very full.
I previously tested positive for H. pylori, completed treatment and tested negative afterwards. My gastroscopy was normal and I was told there was no gastritis or inflammation. PPIs haven’t helped.
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what was eventually found or what treatment helped?

Constant gnawing sensation despite normal gastroscopy

28F, 5’4, 60kg. I’ve had a constant gnawing/hunger-like sensation in my upper stomach since 2019. It can be present even after eating, and becoming very full temporarily makes it disappear.
I previously tested positive for *H. pylori*, completed treatment and subsequently tested negative. My gastroscopy was completely normal and my GP has confirmed there was no gastritis or inflammation. PPIs haven’t helped either.
I’m currently waiting to see gastroenterology and have been looking into functional dyspepsia and visceral hypersensitivity. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced a similar constant gnawing sensation and what their eventual diagnosis/treatment journey was like. ❤️

Constant upper abdominal gnawing despite eating — what could cause this?

28F, 5’4, 60kg. I’ve had a constant gnawing/hunger-like ache in my upper abdomen since around 2019. It is present all day, including after meals sometimes. The only thing that reliably makes it disappear is eating until I’m uncomfortably full, but it eventually returns.
I was diagnosed with H. pylori earlier this year, completed treatment and had a negative follow-up test, but the gnawing has continued. My gastroscopy was reportedly normal, although I’m not sure what the biopsy showed regarding inflammation/gastritis.
I also experience bloating, nausea, and frequent episodes of shakiness/dizziness/weakness that feel like low blood sugar.
Could this be functional dyspepsia/visceral hypersensitivity, gastritis, an ulcer, a motility issue, or something else? What would be reasonable to ask my GP/gastroenterologist to investigate or try for symptom relief?

Can vagus nerve dysfunction cause constant stomach gnawing?

Hi everyone, I’ve had a constant gnawing/hollow hunger-like sensation in my upper stomach for years. It’s there almost 24/7, even after eating, and I also experience bloating, weakness/shakiness and symptoms that sometimes feel like low blood sugar.
I’ve had H. pylori, which I treated, but the gnawing has continued.
I’m wondering if vagus nerve dysfunction could be contributing to this. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms, and if so, did anything help regulate your vagus nerve/gut-brain connection?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. ❤️

Constant gnawing hunger pain + “low blood sugar” symptoms — anyone experienced this?

28F here. I’ve had a **constant gnawing/hollow hunger-like ache in my upper abdomen**, since around 2019. It’s there almost 24/7, including after eating sometimes. Eating a normal meal doesn’t always relieve it, and it often gets worse 2–3 hours later or after an overnight fast. The only thing that reliably makes it disappear is eating until I’m **uncomfortably full**, and then it usually returns the next morning.
I also get frequent episodes of what feels like low blood sugar: **shakiness, weakness, dizziness , and intense hunger**, often a few hours after eating. I haven’t confirmed whether my glucose is actually low during these episodes.
I had an endoscopy and was found to have **H. pylori**, which I treated with antibiotics. My follow-up test was negative, but the gnawing is still there. Ultrasound also found a small gallbladder polyp and fatty liver.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Did it turn out to be **gastritis, functional dyspepsia, reactive hypoglycaemia, or something else?** I’d really appreciate hearing what helped or what you eventually found out

H. pylori gone but still have constant gnawing hunger pains?

Has anyone experienced this?
For years I’ve had a constant gnawing, twisting hunger feeling in my upper stomach, like I haven’t eaten in days. Eating only relieves it if I get really full, and then it comes back a few hours later.
I had an endoscopy that confirmed H. pylori, completed the antibiotics, and my recent stool test came back negative, so the infection has been eradicated. However, the gnawing feeling is still there.
Has anyone had this after successfully treating H. pylori? Did it turn out to be gastritis, functional dyspepsia, or something else? Most importantly, what helped?
Thank you! ❤️

Constant “empty stomach” feeling after H. pylori treatment is making fat loss impossible

Hi everyone,
I’m a 28-year-old female (5’4”, 60 kg) and I’m looking for advice because I’m struggling to tell the difference between hunger and stomach symptoms.
I finished treatment for H. pylori about 4 weeks ago and I’m waiting for my follow-up test to confirm eradication. Since treatment, I’ve had a constant gnawing, hollow, empty feeling slightly above my belly button. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like I haven’t eaten in days.
The weird part is that it doesn’t go away after a normal meal. The only thing that reliably relieves it is eating until I’m uncomfortably full. Because of that, I keep failing my calorie deficit in the evenings.
For example, I’m trying to eat around 1,700 calories and I walk about 4 miles most days. I don’t think that’s a huge deficit for my size, but after 2–3 days the gnawing gets so intense that I end up overeating just to get relief.
I also have food aversions in the morning. I’m usually hungry when I wake up, but food sounds unpleasant. Today I had 2 slices of toast with peanut butter, a protein shake, and a coffee for breakfast (about 500 calories), but I still worry that the empty feeling will build up later in the day.
Has anyone experienced this after H. pylori or gastritis?
• Did it get better with time?
• Was it actually hunger, gastritis, functional dyspepsia, or something else?
• Did anything help besides overeating?
• Were you able to lose weight while recovering?
I feel like I’m stuck in a cycle of trying to eat in a small deficit, feeling this horrible hollow sensation, then overeating for relief. I just want to stop overeating and feel normal again.
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Still getting painful hunger sensations after H. pylori treatment

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with H. pylori nearly 2 months ago and finished antibiotics about a month ago. Most symptoms improved, but I’m still getting constant, painful “hunger” or gnawing sensations in my upper stomach 24/7.

Eating helps briefly but it comes back quickly. It’s really affecting my daily life and causing anxiety.
Has anyone else had lingering symptoms like this after treatment? How long did it take to settle for you? Thanks
