hello all! my grandfather passed away two days ago and then the day after, while at an animal rescue, i came across an all white parakeet with a little tuft of yellow. i had never seen an all white parakeet and for some reason, something inside me told me it was a sign from my papa so i got her the correct size cage, a bunch of toys, food, treats, etc. and i took her home with me. outside of the research on their type of closure, toys, and food, i hadn’t done much research on their care. this is the first time i have ever impulse adopted an animal that i wasn’t throughly educated on. she won’t leave this one specific spot in the enclosure. i guess i’m wondering if you have any advice for me? is it a male or female? how can i bond with and coax her out of that corner? does she hate me?

this is briar! if i remember correctly, his container said he was a half moon twin tail i think??? like i said, i don’t really remember. i absolutely adore him, he’s probably my favorite out of the 5 bettas that i have. i guess i just have some random questions about him and also wanted to show him off a little.
i was wondering, does he look healthy to y’all? he’s in a 5 gallon with driftwood, moss, a java fern, some orange rotala, some red cardinal plants, and some guppy grass. he has a low flow filter and an LED light. i have 2 inches of fluval stratum with a layer of cleaned, non-painted, large gravel. he has a snail friend and a couple harlequin rasboras that were leftover from a community tank wipe out. everyone gets along. he’s super active, comes up to me when i go up to the tank, eats, plays around, etc. his colors even brightened when i moved him to a tank. in my opinion, i don’t think he’s unhealthy but i’m not an expert and a second opinion isn’t a bad thing.
also, is it common to find this coloration in betta fish? i have never seen a betta fish like this in my life, and i frequently look at tons of betta all the time. is he a special color? are the betta fish in my area just so limited that this color rarely comes through? thanks! <3
