Saving a crow the right way.

Hello everyone, some of you might know me already.

And some of you might know the park I frequently visit, has a lot of crows. Now, since I live in Berlin, we also have a lot of foxes, and they don't always play nice with our crow friends.

This little bro, got the short end of the stick, and can't fly anymore. His feathers are broken or straight up plucked. Here is what has happened over the last 8 weeks.

When we first found him, he was very weak, but alert and otherwise unharmed. Since he's grounded, he was unable to successfully compete for food. So we have given him some extra.

We immediately took pictures, and dubbed him "Suppenhuhn" and appropriately so. Because plucked feathers and stuff. Lucky for him, we could assess that he has no broken bones and besides looking rough, he's healthy.

The next day we contacted a wildlife group, they reviewed the pictures we took and gave us a call. After answering additional questions and giving the exact location to them, we met about a week later. Until then we kept feeding him separately to avoid stress with the rest of our murder.

About another 3 days later, we met the girls from the wildlife group and decided to act carefully. During the week, he made good improvements, because of the improving weather and the food.

As of now, we are in contact with the group, and the friendly staff from the park security. "Parkläufer" who helped us monitor the situation.

We try to get the little one through the next molting cycle.

Since then, we kept feeding him, and after 3 weeks he trusted us enough to take food from my hand. Which was one of the most important things. Since then he became comfortable with sitting close to me on the bench. Which would make it easier to catch him, if needed. Also, not being coughed by a stranger, would probably cause less stress.

Meet Suppenhuhn, that little bugger, who's a real cutie, despite looking like shit.
