What is the best option to save for retirement with the money I have saved up?

Hello everyone. The title basically says it all, I have slowly accumulated 10k over the last few years through a CD account. It usually matures every twelve months, and I kept adding it until it's gotten to the size it is now. The next maturity date is in about a week, so I'll finally have access to it again.

My question is how to put this money toward my retirement. I am not looking to invest this money in the stock market, and I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to personal finance, only knowing enough to do my taxes.

Would opening an IRA or 401k be a good idea? What would be the best move to effectively save up for retirement?
