I’m making a roguelike inspired by dice games, but with a twist: you’re playing against Death itself, and your life is on the line. Today I launched the first public playtest.
At the core of Cheat Death is the idea of a game within a game. You sit down at a table with a mysterious figure and enter a dangerous confrontation. There are no traditional battles here: the gameplay revolves around card mechanics, dice rolls, and a hexagonal board. Every turn is a risk and a wager.
The project is inspired by virtual tabletop experiences like Inscryption and Hand of Fate, where gameplay systems and storytelling are tightly intertwined. In Cheat Death, the internal game of dice, combinations, and artifacts directly affects the overarching narrative and intensifies the pressure from Death itself.
A special emphasis is placed on cheating. Death breaks the rules, but the player gains access to the same tools: artifacts and probability manipulation. What matters here is not fair play, but ingenuity.
The game is currently in open testing, and we would be happy to receive your attention and feedback.
