Am I the only one who actually likes MAPPA’s animation?

I know a lot of people prefer WIT’s style, but honestly, I really like MAPPA’s animation in the final season. 😭 I feel like it fits the darker tone of the story really well. Anyone else feel the same?

Why does anime seem so mainstream now when it used to be considered “weird”?

This is a genuine question, and I’m not trying to offend anyone or gatekeep anime. I’m just curious because I’ve noticed a pretty big change in how anime is viewed.

When I was younger, liking anime at school was often considered weird, and people who were really into it could get made fun of or bullied for it. But now, it seems like anime is extremely mainstream, and even some of the most popular/socially “cool” people at my school watch it.

I’m wondering what caused that shift. Was there a specific point when anime started becoming mainstream in the US, or was it more of a gradual change because of things like TikTok, streaming services, popular anime becoming more accessible, etc.?

For people who have been into anime for a long time: what was it like watching the culture change from something that was often stigmatized to something that’s considered pretty normal now?

Again, I’m genuinely asking because I find the change really interesting, not trying to insult anyone or say that people aren’t “real fans.”
