Deceitful Warranty Practice?

Dyson tried charging me $170 for a failed part on a 3-month-old, $800 vacuum. Here’s what happened.

I purchased a Dyson V15 approximately three months ago. Recently, the rubber gasket around the cyclone assembly started pulling out of its housing.

I contacted Dyson expecting a straightforward warranty replacement, considering the vacuum has a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Instead, Dyson support classified the problem as normal wear and tear and told me a replacement part would cost $170 plus tax.

When I questioned how a component failing after just three months could be considered normal wear and tear, they offered me a 30% discount.

I pushed back again and insisted that a premature component failure should be evaluated under the warranty.
Only then did Dyson agree to replace the part for free, describing it as a special, one-time exception because of my loyalty.

I appreciate that they’re now offering a replacement, but my concern is bigger than my vacuum.

How many customers accept the initial denial, pay for a replacement part, or simply give up rather than challenge the decision?

I don’t know whether my experience reflects a broader practice, but I think it’s worth asking.

I’m sharing screenshots of the conversation because consumers deserve transparency about how warranty claims are evaluated.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Dyson warranty support?
