I have a stack of American Express Membership Rewards points and just saw this message:
Please note: As of July 1, 2026, the ratio for transferring Membership Rewards® points to Flying Blue will change from 2 Membership Rewards points = 1 Flying Blue Mile. Until July 1, you can still transfer at the current ratio.
Now I am unsure what the smart thing to do is.
I expect to fly a few more times next year, probably with KLM or a SkyTeam partner. Is it wise to convert everything to Flying Blue now, before the new ratio takes effect?
Or do you think Flying Blue/KLM will raise the award prices even further later on, meaning you won't gain much from it in the end? I sometimes read that Flying Blue regularly adjusts the required miles.
Are there people in the same boat? What would you do:
Convert everything now?
Just a part?
Or save Membership Rewards for something else?
I am curious about your experiences and tips!
