My very first foray into original jewelry!
My background is as a colored gemstone enthusiast (my username checks out, right?) but i ended up with a drawer and needed something to do with them so I decided to have some jewelry made! I designed the ring with some help from AI because I cannot draw at all, and had it converted to CAD, tweaked and cast! Now they will be set with heated blue zircons (center stones: ovals about 10x8mm) and the side stones are going to be unheated brown zircons (closer to 6mm rounds or 5x6mm ovals).
I bought the stones directly from a miner at the mine in Ratanakiri, Cambodia back before COVID and found a manufacturer in Bangkok to do the CAD and casting. Setting will be done in Bangkok as well and I'll post pictures of a finished ring when I pick them up later this week or next.
The one thing I learned through this process is to get well-calibrated stones if you want to make multiple pieces. Mine weren't within the .1 mm tolerance required, so each ring had to be individually rendered in CAD and separate molds made for each. If I had found more identical zircons it would have been one CAD and one mold for all 24 rings...
