Another glasses question: does it really matter if you're nearsighted?

This is more of a general VR question, but do you really need glasses/contacts/prescription lenses for VR if you're nearsighted? With the screen basically being directly in front of your eyes, I can't imagine there'd be a problem with going without any corrective lenses, but the last time I used any sort of VR was 10 years ago for about 5 minutes so I don't remember much of how it looked without glasses on.

Is the screen really a downgrade from the 1 V?

I've been using the Xperia 1 V for almost three years now and I've loved it, but I think it's time for an upgrade. I've seen for the past now three generations now the screen has been downgraded from 4K 19:9 to an FHD 19.5:9. Is it a really noticeable difference between the two from day to day? Not sure if I should get the new phone (the telephoto lens looks nice and the new texture seems interesting) or just continue on with this one and replace the battery.
