A new version of the SofaBaton App (4.1.4) is available on the Apple app store for iPhones and iPads. Don’t know what is different; just says bug fixes and improvements.
I’m passing along my experiences in case anyone else is having similar issues.
I was having no luck getting my U-3 to work with my Xi-6 Xfinity cable box. I assumed I just couldn’t find a set of codes that would work, but it turns out the problem had nothing to do with the Xi-6 settings and everything to do with the box’s crappy IR receiver.
I was trying to control the cable box from about 15’ away. My LG tv was the same distance away, and controlling it with IR was rock solid. So it never occurred to me that the problem was a hardware issue, rather than the codes I was trying to use.
The Xi-6 cable box is intended to be used primarily with an RF remote, so apparently Xfinity really scrimped on the IR receiver. The IR receiver is very finicky about the angle and distance of the IR signal and simply won’t respond if all the planets aren’t aligned. By moving the box closer to my seating location (about 10 feet) I got the box to respond, but only inconsistently. I still would often have to press a key several times while adjusting the orientation of the remote before the cable box would respond. Performance also seemed to be affected by the amount of ambient light in the room.
I got a SofaBaton R1 IR repeater and positioned it about six inches from the cable box. So far everything is working flawlessly, and there’s the added bonus of being able to place the cable box out of sight.
It’s really nice to be finally able to replace four different remotes with just the U-3. It does chap me that I had to spend an additional $40 on the repeater to get the cable box to respond, but that’s not SofaBaton’s fault, that’s on Xfinity.

I was having pretty good success programming devices and macros into my U-3 until I got to my Xfinity cable box. I have an xi6-T cable box (Arris) controlled by an XR-11 voice remote.
I know that the xi6 cable box communicates with the XR-11 remote by RF, rather than IR. I think I understand that I need to unpair the remote from the cable box so the box will revert to responding to IR. If so, I’m not entirely sure how to do this.
Also, the U-3 can’t learn any commands from the XR-11 remote because the Xfinity remote is sending out signals using RF. Will unpairing the X-11 remote cause it to revert to IR?
Any help will be appreciated!
I have an LG WH16NS60 Blu ray drive that I’ve been using on a Windows computer for a few years to rip Blu ray discs using MakeMKV. I would like to pull the drive out to use it with a Mac.
I assume I’ll need an enclosure. Do I need one with its own power supply, or will a USB-C connection provide sufficient power from the computer?
And anything special to look out for regarding an adapter that will let me plug the drive into a USB-C port?

Just got my new U3 SofaBaton from Amazon today, and I can’t get it to pair with my iPhone or iPad to program it. I’ve deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled it from the App Store, but no change. I’ve toggled Bluetooth off and on with no effect. If I go into Settings > Bluetooth on the iPhone, I can manually add the U3 device, but the SofaBaton app doesn’t appear to recognize it if not paired through the App.
I never had any problems pairing my U2, fwiw.
Anybody else been able pair a U3 with an iPhone?
