New member, how did I miss this group??

Apparently, I have been wandering around on other websites, and never thought to join this soup group on Reddit. I am a huge soup fan and cannot wait to dive into this group. 🙂

To get started, I will suggest a soup cookbook that I have made many recipes from, resulting in keeper recipes that I make over and over again.

From Lorraine Wallace - Mr. Sunday's Soups.

No matter what your politics are, the recipes in this book are good. I hope you will give them a try.

Falsely accused of being or using ai to write my post.

I was banned from a group r/spices for supposedly being ai. When I wrote back to ask why, the mod said I was ai. I responded that I was a human, then they blocked me from contacting a mod, or even appealing.

This is what I had written:

Yesterday, I sold something for a few hundred bucks. Although the vast majority of it will go toward bills and groceries, I did allow myself a small splurge, since we were in the area of a fabulous Asian supermarket.

Even as a child, I would raid my mother's spice cupboard, which I now look back on as very basic, and familiarize myself with the smells of each container. I would close my eyes, reach into the cupboard, open and sniff each one, to see if I could correctly guess what I smelled.

Yesterday, since my companion was driving, and waiting in the parking lot, I didn't spend all day on the spice aisle as I normally would, but I did come home with a few treasures.

There would be no more Kung Pao Chicken until I picked up the Szechuan pepper, which has a very strong smell like marijuana, thanks to the terpenes they both share.

Library borrows...

Drat! I don't want to give these books back to the library! LOL, I suppose that says a lot about the books. I may need to add them to my wish list.

Any recipes in either of these books that you find amazing?

Seeing is believing

I had to stop, look around to make sure no one else was nearby, and snapped a picture, because it is too hard to believe.

Do you see what I see?

TWO DOLLARS on this thrift store shelf.

I was even more surprised, because in this store, one of the employees has a clear storage tub in the area with a lid, and a note telling customers not to touch. A store employee who gets first pick before the customers, but then the box is left out there for customers to see what they can't have. At least put it in the back room. 🙄

I'll confirm after a few guesses.

This little spiral was found at the bottom of a basket in a thrift store. I'm glad I took the time to dig through the pile.

50 cents, well spent. 🙂

Two related recipes are included in this post. Apparently, their tortillas are a big deal, but the recipe for them is not in this book. I have included two recipes from the book that I think you will enjoy - Jalapeno White Sauce, and Primavera!

You want me to drink how much prep??

I will have my first colonoscopy in August. Doctor called in a prep prescription. Fine. Pharmacy contacted me - prescription was ready. A few hours later, I received a similar message, with a different prescription. When I picked both of the prescriptions up, the clerk gave me a puzzled look, and the pharmacist seemed confused.

The pharmacist commented that it was odd they had called in two prescriptions:

  • PEG-3350 and electrolytes for oral solution

  • SUPREP Bowel prep kit

Is this normal? I'm just having a routine colonoscopy. I sent a notice to the doctor's office, but will probably not hear back from them until Monday.

I knew there would be a lot of liquid, but this just seems over the top. This would be the equivalent of FOURTEEN 16.9 oz bottles of Ozarka water.
