Is there a book that breaks down the moves in detail?

I’m looking for something similar to Kano’s book for Judo or Jiu Jitsu University for BJJ. Everything I’ve seen on YouTube is hard to follow and it glosses over the important details. I’m looking for something that will help me memorize the movements, the names of the moves, the important details in how you apply them.

We go over this stuff in class but it’s hard for me to remember after class. I think a little self study would go a long way even if the techniques are performed somewhat different from how we do them at my school.

I’ve previewed some books on Amazon but so far everything I’ve looked at is about the philosophy or history of Aikido instead of the techniques.

Grappling in Shorinji Kempo and Chinese Hawaiian Kempo

Just wondering if anyone has experience with these. What I’ve seen online seems to mostly be wrist control stuff similar to Aikido but my understanding is that Chinese Hawaiian Kempo incorporates Judo and that Shorinji Kempo incorporates a Daito Ryu offshoot but also Fusen Ryu. Fusen Ryu as I understand it, was pretty competitive with the Kodokan back in the day.

Could someone explain the timeline for the internet hate?

I looked into trying Aikido many years ago when that show Man In The High Castle came out and unless I missed it there was not any noticeable anti-Aikido obsession on the internet. Did it all start with the Rokas thing?

I’m definitely not trying to start a debate about the effectiveness of Aikido. Just trying to understand the timeline and how we got here exactly. It seems like kind of a weird obsession. Was there a series of events that caused Aikido to get singled out? I’ve trained in many styles of martial arts and the majority of them don’t pressure test or didn’t in the 90s. So why Aikido?

Is it worth it to train Judo only once a week?

There is no judo near me but I could travel once a week to do Saturday classes. I’ve been doing Aikido instead and it’s fun but I really miss doing judo. I only did it for like 6 months so I’m still a beginner. Would aikido twice a week and judo once a week be reasonable? It seems like the ukemi and kazushi would transfer so maybe that kind of works?

Does this seem excessive to you?

The throw is very hard but then to break the guys arm after is just crazy to me. I like to think nobody at my gym would do this

Did Takeda Sokaku study jujutsu? Is Daito Ryu a Koryu?

I’ve heard that Daito Ryu is not a real Koryu and that Takeda made it up and lied about his samurai heritage but I’m wondering, is it real jujutsu techniques at least. Someone told me it’s just some random circus tricks or something and that he never even studied martial arts. Info online seems all over the place. I’m guessing that you all know the answer though

I played in some very very very crappy bands growing up but the shows were often packed anyway. Maybe my memory is wrong but I don’t think I recall it ever being just the bands watching each other. Recently I joined a band with a very substantial listener count (higher than many of my favorite bands) but every show we play is so empty. I think the best we’ve ever done is maybe 2 actual attendees for every 1 person performing. Anyway I just do it for fun and it’s ok even though I feel stupid when it’s really really empty but what is the deal? At the same time I will go see a band that I listen to with a very low listener count and see lots of people like me that just showed up for the music. I really don’t think the listeners are fake. Most of them are foreign so I guess there is that but we just played a city where we’re supposed to be popular and literally no one came.

Has anyone else experienced this?
