Restoring paint and decals on steel frame
I believe I have a 1986 Bianchi Brava. The paint is worn away in parts and many of the decals are heavily scratched. I bought it about 15 years ago at a bike shop that restored old bikes and so I believe they put together the frame and parts, that it was not in it's original form when I bought it. The handlebars that came on the bike were too small for the stem and I had to replace them in a pinch. I was young and naive and replaced the seat and the pedals without a second thought. Now I have more of an appreciation for vintage bikes, but still not a lot of knowledge or experience with repairs and parts.
I'm wondering if this bike would be a good one to use to learn how to restore on my own? It would be my first time every trying to touch up paint on a bike. And maybe I'd look into finding a seat, handle bar and pedals that were originally on this bike when it was made.
I'd appreciate any guidance about what to invest in this bike or if that would be better spent on finding another steel-frame Bianchi to enjoy.
