Tips for getting vintage road bike?

My wife and I are hoping replace our heavy department store bikes. I really like the vintage road bikes available in my area as I think they offer a great balance of weight and strength, offering all we need and for a great deal ($80-$120). Some of the bikes I’m looking at currently are a Raleigh Technium 440, Panasonic Villager, 1975 Raleigh 10 speed, and an unknown 1970’s Japanese bike. The sellers all indicate they are in working condition but I don’t know much about bikes. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions before I make a deal?

1987 Specialized StreetStomper

Just picked it up from the man who bought it new.

What would you do with this bike?

Not sure if this qualifies, but I got a new (to me) Trek Multisport 700

$90 on Craigslist. Manufactured 94-95 time frame, TIG welded chromoly steel frame, probably not quite as vintage as most of the bikes on here. My original thought was to convert it to a fixie (it's a 3x7 right now), but after doing five or so miles on it, the ride was so good that I might not. I'll probably push it back to a two by, and I'm thinking I may put a 10 speed cassette that I have hanging around on it. Definitely doing drop bars. Absolutely loving the frame.

Help Identifying

Inherited this from my dad. No info, no visible serial numbers. Any help identifying and value?

Purchased at garage sale. Wondering if anyone had any info on it.

Just wondering what I have here? If it's necessarily rare/valuable? Kinda fell in love and paid $200 USD for her. Thanks
