Need to pivot my career

What the title says. I’m a true hunter/ eat what you kill rep and my current role is so boring it’s sucking the life out of me. To my company, it’s a sought after role because the deals are so large the upside can be great- but it’s urology commodity sales and I don’t feel it’s building my resume anymore. I make 180-200k with amazing work life balance, but I want to get back into something more eat what you kill and less contract driven. I’ve been here for 3 years and before that have urology OR sales experience with stage performances there.

Any ideas where to pivot? I’d love to get into structural heart or something else more lucrative but with good work life balance but I don’t have any cardio experience which hurts me. I also have some small capital experience but nothing disruptive the bulk of my sales have been disposables.

Looking for some ideas and encouragement. Just feel like I stalled my career out and wanting to get back into something that drives me.

Need a side gig

My job is extremely chill. Honestly- too chill for my liking and unfortunately it’s heavily driven by contracts so sometimes there’s not a lot to do but wait it out. I’m driving myself crazy because I want to feel productive and want to make good money but some years are just fine years while you wait out another good year.

Anyone have ideas for a side gig? I have so much free time someday I’m not sure what to do with myself. I know, cry me a river but any ideas would be appreciated!

Dialysis catheters?

At a large med device company right now, make 200k with very good work life balance. Not in the Or which I love, and schedule my own days. Buts surprisingly it’s a little boring and I worry because we don’t have any new or innovative products coming. I had a dialysis company reach out, 250k OTE and was interested in considering but wanted to see if anyone could give me the landscape of this sale and who’s the market leaders, what are your main hospital stakeholders etc?

Grout holes, how bad?

My shower drain has been smelling bad for a while so today I took over the drain cover and cleaned it all out. That’s when I noticed that the drain has two large holes in the grout that have been covered by the drain cover. How bad is this? Does this certainly mean I have mold under the tile? House is 25 years old so who knows how long it’s been like this. Can I just caulk over it? 😵‍💫

I’m even more concerned because when I sprayed vinegar down the drain the holes both started bubbling as those it’s reacting with something.

Tax itemization or Pay down Mortgage

Last year, we got to itemize our taxes as high income earners due to being new home buyers with a high interest rate. I am now trying to decide if I should take some extra cash we have and pay off a lump sum of our 6.6% mortgage or put that elsewhere since it allows us to itemize our taxes. Is there any easy way to figure out which makes more sense?

I’m sure there is but for some reason my brain is not computing. I reached out to our tax guy and it would be $250 to ask him this question. If it would be better for me to just pay $250, I’ll do it but wanted to first make sure there wasn’t an easy way to do this. My mortgage app has the ability to put in a one time down payment towards principal and it’ll tell you how much interest you’ll save over the life of the loan. So I can use that # on the loan side, but confused how to figure it out on the $ saved YOY on itemizing my taxes?

Have too much in my HYSA, aggressively pay towards home loan or invest?

I have 139k in my HYSA. We’re 32 year old new home buyers (lived here two years) with a two year old. When we moved into this home it was the most money I’ve ever spent on something and I grew up very money anxious so I made sure to have a big savings account to feel comfortable. Now I am starting to realize I might be wasting a lot having that much in cash. My money anxiety has gone down since we’ve now lived here for a while and have been totally fine with mortgage payments even with the huge increase of our property tax. Our monthly expenses are about 10k. My husband and I are both in sales so our incomes fluctuate a bit but I am almost never below 200k and he has been between 100-130k at his job of two years. We also need a new roof soon so will need about 40k for that (that’s a high estimate). I am thinking I should take 39k from the high yield savings and put it either in my betterment investment account or put it towards my home loan of 6.625%? My betterment account is invested in all stocks (50% VTI, VOO the other 50% diversified with some mid cap, small cap and international.).

Daycare only allowing plastic water bottles

My daycare put out a new bulletin yesterday evening that starting tomorrow, they will no longer allow anything but plastic water bottles. I’m so mad because I’ve already had to bend on my values by having her eat off old plastic plates and use plastic silverware, but now this. We also live in south Florida so it’s 100 degrees right now and they bring the water bottles outside with them and they sit in the hot sun while they are out there. I know sending my child to daycare I would have to compromise on some of values but this just feels ridiculous now. Especially in 2026 when there’s so much data showing the dangers of plastic and the benefits of limiting it where you can. I spoke with the director and she said the best I can do is reach out to the corporate office. Of course they havnt called back yet.

I know it’s not the end of the world but I just feel like this is the one thing I wanna finally dig my heels in on, and switch her to somewhere else. This daycare also made me get a doctors note saying I could bring my own lunch instead of her eating the disgusting sugar filled lunch they provide, it just feels like they make rules out of convenience rather than what’s best for the child.

If they force me to do this I want to pull her and start her somewhere else. There’s another daycare that I’ve toured and is highly recommended and also has better hours, but she’s two and has been at this daycare since she was 12 weeks and I know it would be hard on her to be in a new environment at this point.

Am I being unrealistic?

Pool fence DIY?

Has anyone installed a pool fence DIY? Is it a DIY job if I already have holes? I know the tension has to be precise etc but in my head I’m thinking I buy the fence and put it in the holes?

I did have someone come out for a quote and he said my holes are good and can be used.

Someone talk me out of it if I’m over simplifying this or let me know where you got yours if you did it yourself!
EDIT: should have said this, I already have a fence fence around the yard, I just want one of those mesh screen ones around the pool so that my daughter can’t fall in.

I’m tired

New pool owner. My salt cell died right after I let my pool guy go and I didn’t know it so have been dealing with that over the last month. I finally got the new cell installed last night and now my chlorine is back up to par but my water is still super cloudy. I’ve also been battling ph. It would just keep rising and rising what felt like every day when the salt cell was out (and I was adding liquid chlorine myself until I could get a new one).

First 24 hours with new cell, I ran it on boost over night, ph was good (7.6) when I went to bed. I should also note that during this time with no cell we did get some green algae on the bottom so after installing the new cell installed brushed the pool super well and ran the pump all night in addition to the cell on boost. Came back out in the morning, water still just as cloudy, and ph was back up to 8.0+ (Taylor test kit only goes to 8). Well I got frustrated and added too much acid… so now here are my numbers please help I’m so sick of the constant testing and just want to get this figured out. (Rehiring my pool guy isn’t an option right now lol I invested a lot into learning and it’s out of principle because my husband was very much against getting rid of him)

Ph: 7.0
Free chlorine: 5
TA: 100
Cya:60
CH:400
Salt: cell says 4300
Br:10

Do I get the ph back up now or just let it be for a day or two and see if it rises on its own?

Edit: 15,000 gal plaster salt water pool

Added shock to Saltwater pool but found out my salt generator was just off

Help, new pool owner clearly. I have a saltwater pool and today when I got the water tested they said there was zero chlorine in the pool and to add 3 bags of cal hypo. I added 3 lbs of HTH pool care shock advanced (cal hypo). I also have mildly high CYA so I went with this without CYA added. Well turns out I’m just an idiot and after adding it I realized my salt generator just hasn’t been on, for who knows how long. Fortunately my water wasn’t green or anything, just a little bit of algae starting to grow around the edges.

Did I completely mess up my salt system? Should I keep the salt generator off while I wait for the chlorine to dissipate?

My readings were (before anything added)
0 PPM of free or total chlorine
100PPM CYA
65 PPM Alkalinity (added alkalinity increaser right when I got home about 4 hours before the shock)
