:( people started blowing up fireworks during the daytime. he was scared, couldn’t eat or use the bathroom since the early morning. glad it’s over now.

My five month old chihuahua cries and whines so loud whenever I leave the house. He will cry if I just leave to go to the bathroom. He won’t stay in his bed and cries and follows me around. I can’t sleep at night because he cries unless he sleeps in the bed. Putting his bed right next to my bed doesn’t work even when my hand is on his bed. There are days during the week that I have to be away for a couple of hours, and I’m worried he’s going to wail and cry the whole time I’m away. I live in an apartment building that is strict about disturbances. I’ve had puppies before but never one that was this distressed from being away from their human, so I’m lost on what to do. What can I do without causing separation anxiety and worsening the stress or teaching him that crying equals attention?

He’s literally a copy and paste but brown version of my older chi, Dracula.
